I DID IT!!! It took some squirming and patience but my pup looks way cleaner and handsome now. I didnt have all the materials but the razor, brush, and scissors and just following how you cut. Thankyou so much

Beautiful job and the dog looked great when you were finished. I liked your video so much more than others that I have seen. Instead of complaining and pointing out all the things the owners weren't doing to care for their pets fur, you just did the job in a very professional way. Kudos to you!

definitely expert level grooming...i cringed when those scissors got so close to the eye. i wish i could leave my baby looking this beautiful. GREAT JOB!

Check with your vet first for the dose, but you might try Benedryl. I use pediatric liquid but you can use a pill if the dose amount allows. Benedryl is great for anxiety as well as allergies. What I do is, do anything I can to really exercise my dog...ie dog park or a long walk or active play, , give her the dose of Benedryl, then she is ready for her bath and her grooming. By the time the bath is over its taking effect on her anxiety. She sometimes is so relaxed she naps in my lap when I trim her nails. It makes for a much quieter grooming. I also try to keep things calm during that time while talking quietly to her. This works great for us. She's then ready to scamper after a nice warm bath, grooming and nap. 8)

Our Shih Tzu (hi name is Penguin) always gets hyper after bath. Probably because he is only 7 months old. But I will try your advice. Long walks and run then bath with little hint of Benadryl.

I found it very helpful to watch you grab him by the hair under his chin to keep his head steady while you did the majority of the face.

What would be the corresponding guard to the one you’re using for the body?

So we bathe them, then dry them and then trim them up. I thought we cut them with wet hair. Good thing I watched this. Lol I just bought a grooming table and a battery operated Hair Clippers

I learned my lesson early on, DON'T USE HUMAN CLIPPERS! Make Sure you get Dog Clippers for Heavy or thick coats, They have 3 times more power than human ones are not strong enough to go thru dog hair!!!! The better the Clippers they easier it is so Cheap dog clippers don't work as well. Also, Wash and Brush them first!

All the dogs I've seen you do are so calm and well behaved and gold still for you though, everything we get in my lil town are crazy biting dogs that jerk and tug and will try to bite the scissors out of your hand or flinch for every scissor closing noise, do you record on bad dogs too or do you get lucky and all yours are basically well behaved??

I have an Oster a5 clipper and bought the 7FC blade in your link. You didn't specify which comb you used and Amazon suggested the Wahl 1, so I bought that. But it won't fit. What comb are you using here? I really like the stainless tines of the Wahl because they glide through her fluff easier than the plastic ones.

Thank you for sharing this lovely video. I clip my own two Shih Tzu and wonder if you would mind me asking for some advise? I have an Andis cordless and usually use a 5f blade on their bodies. I also have a 10 blade and wonder if I would be better using that, with comb guides, as I notice you use the guides. Is the 10 blade okay? and if so, what length guide comb should I use? Also, I use the 10 blade for between their pads, is this right? I notice also that your scissors are a longer length than the ones I use. What length are they and do the give a better finish than shorter ones? Many thanks x
you can use comb guides if you want your shih tzus with longer coat, I like use blue comb to shorter coat and for example yellow for longer, , 10 blade is not good blade for snap on combs, you should use 30 blade with combs. I use 30 blade between pads, its shorter blade but you can use 10 if you want. I have a thinning shears 7' but if you have a shorter scissors it's all right. Scissors are like a shoes - should be convenient for you

I was advised by the company I bought my clippers from that the 10 blade was right for the comb attachments, but will purchase a 30 blade. Thank you again xx

i'm confused -- all the articles i see online says that shih tzus are double-coated dogs and that it's bad to shave double-coated dogs, but in all the shih tzu grooming videos i see on youtube, they get shaved. what is the right way to go about it? i would like to shave my dog but don't want to accidentally ruin her coat.

Can I know why it's shivering like that? My neighbours Shih Tzu also shivers a lot but I assumed it's cause they never take her for walking and have kept her locked for an year, but were planning adopt a Shih Tzu and that shivering isn't really a desirable trait
There are a lot of reasons why they shiver, consider googling these many different causes

@@petgroooming yes I was wondering about that, I rescued a little Maltese and he is so matted, so I didnt know if I should bath him first or clip first. A maltese has very odd fine hair that matts so bad . What would you recommend for a Maltese ,are they different than a shih tzu or are all breeds about the same ? Thank you
