    This track especially hits different when you play "The Chapel" on Insane and can't help the squads of Space Marines who are fending off the Chaos forces in time; you can only watch them all fall.

      i managed to save the squads on insane AND the apothecary sometimes the sarge too, i just throw EVERYTHING at their postion no matter the cost, like 2-3 assualt marine squads. once you deal with the turrets and raptors you they are pretty much safe. the little encouunter is very easy to save but the bigger one is painful and hard AF

      Glad I'm not the only one who associates this track with The Chapel mission.

    *A drop pod lands in the middle of a battle between the Death Korps of Krieg and the Iron Warriors. The Salamanders are here, blasting away the Chaos marines and soon checking on the guardsmen*
    Salamander: "Guardsman, what made you so sure no-one was coming?"
    Krieg Guardsman: "We're Death Korps, my lord. We're made to be expendable."
    Salamamder: "...Not to me."

      This story is perfect homage to the Salamanders, and the sanctity they hold for human life! Also, that last bit is a nice reference to jedi Plo Koon from Star Wars The Clone Wars series. 🙂

    I've always felt this piece is a one of lamenting. The planet is breaking and burning, the green tide grows ever closer and ruinos powers corrupt the planet, reflected in the very land you tread upon. This conflict is in it's final hours, I know it, you know it, they know it. It brings on a feeling of despair and determination. Despair for the inevitable fall of the planet, for the loss of a friend, and the determination to see it through, to make things right.

      It also makes you reflect on the beauty lost. The planet was once a lush and populated world, until it began to burn. It may have been inevitable, yet you can only feel some lament for the loss of life and seeming rising tax on your forces.

    This one has always been my all time favourite track from the entire DOW franchise. Ever since I heard it when facing isador for the first time... ❤

    From an in-universe standpoint, I wonder why the grey knights weren't present on Tarturus. Or maybe they were and we all just got mind-wiped.

      @Elfenastics 4 года назад +7

      You just answered your on Question. But on another point maybe the Grey Knights werent fast enough? Or maybe the Chaos God "T_H_Q" didnt have the license to put them on Tartarus.

      i think because the main threat was an ork invasion and the proof of chaos operations were shown in the last 3 missions excluding the inqisitor and isador, because isador would be killed in less than 1 sec if he told his brothers that he spoke to a chaos sorcerer in secret and inqisitor wanted everyone to leave the planet hence the need to send GK into a meatgrinder would be pointless. Just my thoughts

      Simple…this game came out in 3rd edition of 40k. The Grey knight army and codex came with 5th edition. They where in the lore for sure, but no real force.

    They seriously need to make a sequel to Dawn of War. A proper one I mean, a true sequel, not a real time tactics game like DoW 2 (which was good in it's own right, but a completely different type of game), or DoW 3, which is unworthy of the name. Just a honest, straight up spiritual successor to the original, that's what we need, and they should re-use DoW 1's music when they do!

    Can really fit in as background music for the Emperor's throne room besides Rachmaninoff's Russian Choir.

    Потрясающая мелодия, которая вызывает целую бурю эмоций и образов. Не знаю почему, но у меня она вызывает образы не Империума Человечества, а близкой всем русским Византийской империи, ее императоров, армии, культуры и идеологии, ее многочисленных войн и постоянных ожесточенных раздоров. Должно быть, дело в хоре. Как хор в этой песне похож на типичный православный церковный хор, так и сам Империум, раздираемый войнами и мятежами очень похож на угасающую Византию, которую сгубили непрекращающиеся мятежи и гражданские войны
