Thank you for explaining not to use tretinoin long term but instead after a treatment period to go back to retinol. I’ve been trying to figure this it what’s best and have heard so many conflicting things. 🙌🏻🙏
I don’t see the issue long term if your skin tolerates it well. I don’t get any inflammation (maybe low level I don’t notice?) so I’m curious if she recommends I switch to retinol even though my skin tolerates it well and I see amazing results
There are several vitamins/minerals that can build up in our bodies because we don't have a mechanism to eliminate them well. Some of the important ones include vitamin D, vitamin A, iron and calcium.
I love this Q&A format. I have a question: I am going to be 45 in April and I have been using tretinoin since I was 35. Should I stop using it and just use retinol moving forward. Have I been on it too long?
This is such a complex question actually, so I put it in my next Q&A. The short answer: Unless you plan on using the potent ZO retinols, stay on your tret.
Great video! Great answers! Would you please consider making a hair care video? Your hair is always so healthy and shiny! Would love to hear your routine and advice! 🧘♀️💕
One of your best video. I got answers to all my questions. Thank you so much. The only unanswered questions for me is what brand Tretinoin . I used Alterno it was like a lotion.I like creamy versions . I’m 52 years old with normal to dehydrated skin.
I just stumbled across your channel while searching for SkinBetter Science videos. I automatically subscribed and have watched quite a few. As far as rosacea… I have it, and also cystic & fungal acne that is under control by topical prescribed Curology. Also melasma and wrinkles, texture, oh my! 😂 Question: I didn’t have rosacea until a few years ago. Adult onset. I have broken capillaries on the tip & sides of my nose, cheekbones, t-zone. Is it okay for someone with my skin type to use Trio as a moisturizer? I’ve read that Lactic & Salicylic acid are irritating for rosacea, and I’ve found that to be true. Stinging while applying, redness, blotchiness, and a very tight feelingThey are lower down in the ingredient list. Does that mean that the concentrations are low and will not irritate & worsen rosacea? About to watch more of your videos! Thank you, Dr. Ania Marie ❣️
Thank you so much! That is challenging for sure! You have very delicate skin. It's so hard to say. Trio is intended to strengthen the skin barrier but it does have some salicylic and lactic acid in it. Generally speaking people with rosacea can have success with it but it's impossible to guarantee. Every skin is different.
Very dismayed you left out retinaldehyde. Could you please addresss it in another video and please be sure to talk about how it isn't all that stable, and which products have a stable form of it how hey do this. Thank you so much.

retinaldehyde is very gentle by way of it's activation process. I think its great for sensitive skin and areas like the neck. The retinols that I recommend to my patients and use myself are the ZO wrinkle and texture, skin brighter and Skinbetter science alpharet. Because I am primarily targeting collagen, I personally use the wrinkle texture and repair. It is prescription strength without the prescription. I alternate with Skinbetter alpharet overnight cream and peel pads.
@@theocbeautymd I'm using the MDAire Retinol right now which I like but Wrinkle Texture sounds great too and stronger. I still use my tretinoin a few nights a week. So hard to give it up! I think I'm wasting money on the retinaldehyde products. Thank you for that information.
My dermatologist has me on a compounded tretinoin. I’ve been using that for sometime now and have no problem. It is at the lowest strength and I use it every night. Should I stop using it or use it every other night and use the skin better science one, alternating or replacement?
@@marthastewart2658 I recommend using a retinoid every night but switching up between products is great too especially with alpharet because you get the benefit of a gentle chemical peel. I love the peel pads and alpharet overnight cream combined 2x/week.
Here’s my question: I just went for my first ever facial and first Botox in 11’a and jawline. I am 59 and have went all clean on products as well as I do a lot of animal organs getting a lot of vitamin A. I have rosacea red cheeks and very sensitive skin. I have been studying and decided 2 months ago to go down to nothing but vanicream cleanser and moisturizer and my skin has been looking much better so now I feel like it’s time to add 1 active in but while at the facial they talked me into $$$$ zo rozatrol, revision vit c 30%, and revision DEJ retinol. I havnt opened any and thinking of returning when I go back in 2 weeks for the recommended facial laser treatment . I just feel it’s too much not only in dollars but in treatment??
You have to ask yourself what you align with and what your goals are, both in terms of skin and budget. From there, it will be easier to make a decision. Also think about who is giving you advice and how specialized they are. Rosacea is tricky. I would go to a skin specialist who might choose different products for rosacea.

Hey gorg, have you tried or ever came across the ZO complex A or the complex A+ creme ?
Yes. It's a combo of retinol and tret but it's only available at the ZO skin health centers
