    Omg thank you so much for this video! I feel there are many reviewers who choose to tiptoe around the obvious fact that the quality of Homeworx has been declining pretty steadily. The candle market is saturated so having the Slatkin name behind it simply isn't going to suffice for long. I hope they step their game back up. I refuse to make another purchase until they do. I found your video to be very respectful, informational and critical. Well done!

      Well stated! As long as people keep buying their reduced quality candles, there’s no incentive for the company to improve the quality of their products/customer service. 🍁

    Great video Josh. Absolutely great. Spot on, very thorough and HONEST. I find myself throwing away half burned containers cause I'm tired of burning unscented wax. I do find it insulting that Harry Slatkin will sit on an IG live, be tipsy, drink and not be professional enough to address his product issues with his LOYAL customers. We are spending hard earned money buying his product and he ignores us and these issues. I too am a lover of HW but I plan to continue not purchase until I hear enough positive reviews on a candle to warrant a purchase.

    Out of respect for your unique, in-depth candle knowledge & fragrance descriptions, I watched this well rounded video. You did not rant, IMO. My personal experience with this company has been repeatedly inferior, so I no longer purchase from their site, QVC, nor discount retailers (TJ Maxx, etc.). This company’s higher prices, no return policy for new, unused candles, & lack of customer service are the reasons why I stopped buying them. Thank you for speaking with honesty and integrity on this brand and many others. 🙏🏼Best regards. 🍁🌲

    I love how unafraid this video was. In a world of candle review tiptoers, you are doing all of us who crave an HONEST REVIEW. Not the “oh this is light but I love Harry so much so you guys should also buy this poor performing candle so I don’t lose PR” type review. But an honest to blog this is exactly what I think and what’s going on review and I loved every minute of it. Please keep being you. We need more of you in this candle community

    SPOT ON review and concerns. What is making me the angriest is that HomeWorx ISN'T owning it. They are not. I am so happy you aren't sugar-coating these very obvious and serious concerns. You are absolutely right and all points. I am done with them for now, sadly.

    Josh, I’m only at the beginning, but just want to say how much I appreciate you in this space. While my experience has still been more so positive, I have had the most “issues” with HW this last calendar year, which has me looking at other brands.
    We have the exact same Seasons Greetings candle (pour date is the same) and I had the SAME EXPERIENCE with it (wax issues & scent). 😒
    I appreciate your maturity so much in this video. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    Thank you for this honest discussion Joshua. I find it really difficult to criticise any of Homeworx beautiful candles and also of Harry himself ,as I can vouch for his care,compassion and kindness first hand after my stroke earlier this year. Here in the Uk our candle company choices are very limited and expensive.
    After living through the sad demise of Yankee several years ago. I tried Village candle, candleberry, Goose Creek and several others but they all went the same way, unscented ,poor performing and then hard to source in the uk. By 2018 I like a lot of candle 'addicts' had started buying Bath & Body Works candles from someone who imported them. At £16 plus shipping , I was delighted and thought i'd found the best in the limited market in the Uk.
    Through my BBW addiction I soon heard Harrys name and was so sorry that I hadn't been able to enjoy his candles when he was in charge of the now BBW.
    I then found out that Harry had now started Homework in the US and through QVC he was bringing them to the UK. As soon as I tried my first Homeworx candle ( fresh cotton clouds) and realised what they meant by Home filling scent I soon binned BBW and spent every spare penny on Homeworx. It was in late 2018 when I first bought my all time favourite White Birch and decided I had to buy as many as I could and hoard them! There really was nothing like a Homeworx candle in our budget in the Uk. Harry's attention to detail regarding so many different scent notes being in one candle and the visually stunning vessels well surpassed even the Yankees during their golden years.
    Fast forward to Spring 2022 and cracks started to appear in the quality of Homework. The lids to me were disappointing but I'm more interested in the scent I'm burning than anything else. I knew the difficulties in both sourcing alluminium and the cost of it but I understood, but the depletion in the fragrance oils really concerned me as I felt like I was watching the demise of Yankee all over again.
    Cut a long story short. I now no longer recommend Homeworx to my friends and have even started buying the odd BBW here, even though they are now costing us £22 plus shipping each and the scent notes of each candle seem to be more generic and 'flat' compared to Harrys scents. But I have an old Victorian Terrace House with very high ceilings and I could now burn two of Harry's 2022 candles in the one room with no scent throw and being ill and retired now I'm unable to afford to.
    I bought several sets off QVC last month and one of them was Iced Sugar Cookie ,on cold it smelled quite delicious but unfortunately after several burns I'm still left with a unscented block of wax and as for curing it could be left to 2023 and it'd still be unscented. My good school friend came home from the States for a visit this summer ,and she'd never heard of Homeworx candles so I gifted her a 2021 version of Rose Petals. She went home telling all of her nurse friends in ER of the fabulous candles that are available on their doorstep. On her last message last night, she happened to say that they'd all bought several Homeworx candles from either QVC, Homeworx.shop and TK Max, and the UK factory ( she didn't realize they're all from Vietnam)was obviously producing higher quality candles compared to the US as theirs had all been duds so they'd gone back to BBW.
    I do hope Harry or someone else from the company addresses the low fragrance thow and different scent notes,as it was quite concerning when I heard that Harry had addressed the change of candle lids, while completely evading the more serious issue of the disappearing scent throw.
    Thank you for your opinions Joshua, sometimes its quite annoying for several of us to find a candle that's just a waste of money to read that someone who's had the same candle through PR say they've heard peoples views but theirs have been fine. It makes me wonder if the vietnam factory send out a highly scented batch for PR or are the reviewers not being completely honest in case they get dropped from PR. Its now made me avoid several people I used to follow on youtube because of their less than accurate reviews. Thankfully I can still watch and know that your opinion is accurate and genuine.

    Thank you for the courteous, respectful, truthful video. I am disappointed with Homeworx. If a company does only candles, then the spelling, lids, labels, scent, wicks, performance all matter. Quite frankly, my Homeworx candles have performed sub par, and smell like a smoky crayon when the halfway mark is reached. Perhaps Homeworx has jumped the shark. Not the candles they used to be. I still miss Slatkin & Co. candles.

    Sadly, the issues with the burn and scent intensity of Homeworx candles has been going on since the Fall and Winter releases of 2018, so I don’t see it being fixed or publicly acknowledged anytime soon. I wonder if cutting costs has to do with rising prices of manufacturing materials and QVC’s demand to keep the price low, or if it’s their way of pocketing more profits. I’m making my way through my stash of good ones that I’ve had for years, so I haven’t been buying any of these new candles. It also doesn’t help that he’s stopped sending out PR, so there are no second opinions, other than yours, and you just can’t trust the QVC hosts. I’m very happy with brands like Rigaud and Harlem Candle Co, so I have no problem moving on from Homeworx.

    Thanks Joshua - glad to hear from a very experienced nose, YOU, can defer there is a difference from year past to current with the same candle name/notes. I had commented on someone's IG about the scents while burning are NOT giving and first clue was the smell on cold sniff for which a reply was given that I may just need to keep candle for a while & burn months later allowing wax to get stronger (mensurate). I can't remember the word but have heard that that is such a thing with HW candles. Your words were right on with respect to strength and scent oil quality/quantity with the 2022 & maybe some of past years as well!

    I cannot thank you enough for your honesty!! It's seemingly harder and harder to come by from candle reviewers of late, especially regarding those reviewing our beloved Homeworx brand. I've enjoyed and loved this brand for well over a decade and it is noticeable the quality decline in many areas. I still love the candles that are great, but regrettably, it is hit or miss across the brand. I cannot even purchase and gift blindly like I used to. I have to purchase, burn one for myself, just to see if it's the quality I'd be proud to gift. You were very informative, truthful and respectful. It has become evident that some reviewers opinions can be bought with either kickbacks or PR. I love that you are not one of those people. Your in-depth reviews have helped me improve my knowledge as well as desire to purchase certain candles. In my experience, you haven't steered me wrong yet! Again, you are appreciated! Integrity is very important to me and it seems that way for you as well. 😘

    Yes! Thank you Thank you! I really appreciate your video on this, it’s disappointing that Homeworx is downgrading and I realize candles are a cheap to make , overpriced commodity. I used to work for a well known single wick company that currently is almost 3 times the cost of Homeworx, they used a similar paraffin / veg wax blend depending on the volatility of the oils. 6.5 oz and the cost was about $4.25 wholesale per unit post packaging, obviously that’s not how retail works but this stuff is cheap they use. And probably not very healthy tbh. It’s frustrating when the owners are banking and obviously not caring. I was annoyed that Harry had the wrong candles on his live with Laura and didn’t even recognize what he was smelling. So obviously he’s not very involved anymore. Perhaps they’ve been sold or are being courted.

    Thank you for taking the time to post this video and for saying the things that need to be said. Other reviewers on here are not discussing these issues and I think it's important for EVERYONE to be honest about what is going on. The reviews for these candles online (QVC) and fb are very telling. People are receiving unscented candles and paying a premium price for them. I also can't believe more people weren't up in arms over the fact that they aired and sold candles that were spelled, "candl." They were shown on air with the misprint and no one even acknowledged it. How disappointing that this brand is allowing this to happen. I hope they can fix these issues and make things right again.

    Thank you for your honest thoughts. I appreciate your integrity. There have definitely been issues. Christmas Joy was a huge disappointment. I tried burning Frozen Balsam last night. After an hour I could not smell anything and I was 3 ft. away. How on earth can someone produce a BALSAM scent with no throw? I had to light a Kringle candle along side of it in order to smell anything. And Joshua, you didn’t even touch on the SHIT SHOW of shipping issues that we’ve had in November. Orders from November 11th have not been shipped yet. My last 3 orders have had candles cancelled because they apparently can’t track their inventory correctly. It’s very frustrating.

      Agreed-the ongoing processing & shipping delays were the last straw for me. I contacted them 3x to cancel an order that sat unfilled, collecting dust, for over 2 weeks. They couldn’t handle the request, so I refused delivery when the order finally showed up weeks later. Done, just done. 🙄

      @@ReillyWildeomg same exact problem except I called my credit card company to dispute the charge. Told them I never received the items. Homeworx thinks they can take our money on the order date and then never ship them! I wish everyone would stop payments on unfulfilled orders that would serve them right! BBW doesn’t charge your account until the items ship! I just got my bill with charges of 2 unfulfilled orders so I’m calling again. I don’t see how it’s legal to take our money when they have no intention of ever shipping them! I’m done with them!

    I rarely go to Nordstrom Rack but decided to take a quick look at the candles and I was quite disappointed with the HomeWorx candles that found. They truly either did not have much fragrance or they reminded me of cheap cleaners. I’m not sure what’s going on but unfortunately I will be a little more careful with buying fragrances from HomeWorx. I love fragrances and candles and I hope that if there is truly an issue with some of Harry’s candles that it gets remedied, and we can enjoy them to the fullest once again. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    Josh, I actually viewed your video last night and waited until today to comment because I wanted to give careful thoughts here. I agree with you, there are clear differences in Homeworx candles when comparing previous years with this year candles. I recall when he increased his price $5 on his 4 wicks which to me is a substantial hike. It seems that since that took place everything starting going downhill. Drowning wicks, lost detached wicks (5 candles here), little and no fragrance or throw, poorly applied uneven labels, and shipping that taking weeks in November( still waiting on unfulfilled orders). I had made a decision to hold off on buying anymore Homeworx candles. Josh, when I burned my FIRST snickerdoodle candle it was nice from the second burn ( first burn light), so
    I ordered 2 more. I was actually burning one last night and NOTHING! There was no throw and even being next to the candle, I could not detect the fabulous fragrance I had on the previous candle! I still had the first candle in the recycle bin and pulled it out. Both the first and second candle were poured 7/4/22! So same batch but total opposites in fragrance! I cannot even figure how this could be. This is so sad, I am the highest level on Homeworx award program and I guess that will change quickly because until they improve, I will not be buying anymore Homeworx.

      I’ve been waiting weeks for my unfulfilled orders too. I actually sent Harry a private DM regarding this matter on my order from October and then it was finally fulfilled with a discount and a gift card! But now right back to the same problem, as I have an order pending from November 19th still not processed or shipped and also one from November 24. I had already decided that this is it for me, as I will not even receive these orders by Christmas and I’m not putting up with it anymore and this video just reassures me of that decision. I can accept that problems occur but when there’s no effort to correct or improve them then it’s time to move on. So very disappointing, I mean if you can believe it my candle day order from BBW has already shipped! And you do know that Homeworx charges your account the day you place the order whereas BBW doesn’t charge until it ships! So Homeworx takes your money for weeks before they ship your products!

    Thank you for addressing this it’s been a concern of mine I have over 100 of his candles and needless to say I don’t burn them off as soon as I buy them and lately every time I like one it’s a hit or mess very sad for such an expensive candle also right now candles coming from his site are backed up November candles aren’t even moving on shipping and they just keep coming out with new stuff kind of unfair to his loyal customers … If they don’t change that back he’s going to lose a lot of people because it’s like they only put half the amount of cent in as they used to in a lot of the candles possibly because it was unsupervised that’s the only thing I can think

    Well, you already know we are aligned here. You broke my heart when you told me about White Birch 2022 a bit ago 😭 I'm fortunate I have several from previous versions cause I indeed would be upset and devastated.

    I bought four of the NEXT for Autism Chocolate Chip Banana Pancakes. My son also has Autism, so I jumped at the opportunity to support. These candles are LITERALLY UNSCENTED while burning. This really hit hard and ultimately hurt my opinion of the brand overall.

    I appreciate your honesty. I’ve noticed inconsistencies as well but most have mine have been wick issues. I’ve been burning candles for 30 years so I know how to burn them properly too. 😔 it makes me sad and a little cautious.

    I agree with so much in this video. It's very frustrating to be a supporter of HomeWorx when I've been having nothing but problems recently! One issue that you stated that I've had happen in so many candles recently are the bad burns. Holiday Spice, Autumn Pinecone, Mistletoe Magic, Autumn Bonfire...all these (and more) just don't want to pool out completely! Chunks of wax that won't burn and residue left all along the candle, despite having decently length wicks with good flames. I've also had batch variance with candles in the SAME YEAR. Blueberry Cheesecake was EXCELLENT on their website. The QVC duo...waste of money. Completely different fragrance.

    Josh, I wanted to provide your subscribers an update I received from Homeworx regarding order shipment delays. I see that a number of your reviewers commented that they had been waiting long periods for shipment of their orders. I had sent Homeworx a second email, prior to your video and my earlier posted comment, asking for shipping updates on two of my orders, one which is 17 days old. Homeworx informed me that orders placed before 11/21 would ship by 12/3 and orders for the period 11/23-11/29 would ship by 12/8, although my order falls in the December 3rd deadline it still indicates unfulfilled. I had suggested to Homeworx to update their FAQ section regarding their timeframe in processing orders and they did change the processing time to 4-8 business days with possible longer time frames during promotional events and holidays. Just a side note, I did not ask for a phone number for them since their website clearly indicates there is no customer service phone number; however, I did request that someone from Homeworx call me. I had never made such a request before but thought being a customer who places orders regularly and partakes in their reward program perhaps they would make such an accomodation. They declined.

    Much appreciation for this video! Even with inflation these candles are already overpriced before that so there’s absolutely no reason to give watered down scents followed by cheap components to make them. Candle enthusiasts who’ve been around for a minute can’t be fooled when they make changes so obvious it’s like a smack in the face 😒 If they’re going to degrade the quality then they should also downgrade forcing people to buy in sets and let us try one. I knew something was up when they started showing up in T.J Max but even still at least you can smell before you buy. To bad the brand name is more sophisticated than the actual quality 😒😒😒

    I finally lost a whole wick in the wax pool. I used foil to help the remaining 3 wicks finish the burn. This was my first experience with this happening although I have heard others complain about it. I have a cabinet full of Homeworx 4-wick candles. I will burn my way through them and hold off purchasing until I hear better news from you and other reviewers.

    Josh, i wanted to provide an update regarding Homeworx shipping on unfulfilled orders. I relayed to you that Homeworx advised via an email to me that unfulfilled shipments placed before 11/21 would ship out 12/3 and those after 11/21 would ship by 12/8. My order was well before 11/21 and the order is still reflecting unfulfilled. I contacted AX today to dispute the charge due to product not received. There have been no further emails from Homeworx to me indicating a shipping change. I have another order that I placed 11/24 which they said would ship BY 12/8. I will wait a few more days and call visa if still unfulfilled. I am done with Homeworx.

    It is really sad that so many people are experiencing these issues with Homeworx. Personally I have not had any chronic problems other than 2 or 3 wicks issues out of lots and lots of candles purchased. It is my favorite brand with BBW second. But sadly I don't know how long they are going to be around with all of these issues others are having.

    I've noticed lately the homeworx cookie candles are not throwing..cookies n cream,snickerdoodle,and iced sugar cookie had no throw at all for me 🤷🏾‍♀️
