I've also noticed that Bindi is the smartest dog out there: not only has she been the only one to deposit her kills in the bucket upon command, but she's also figured out that pulling up lumber flushes out rats! At least 3 times in this video I've seen her pulling planks with her jaws when things slow down, looking to flush more rats out! With Boss on cleanup and the smaller dogs on dig-and-slaughter duty, they really are an un-stoppable ratting team of dogs. So impressive to watch.
I think all the dogs use their bodies based on their size. Boss is a big dog = Slow, lumbering, longer stride I'd bet Boss is fully aware of his own size, and if he has to chase, he's got the stride to do so.
Bindi is my favorite. The rest are running off instinct. She's watching and thinking. Helping put them in buckets. She makes thoughtful decisions. I saw her trying to rip up a board. She is trying so hard. This is the best. I love watching the dogs just have the time of their lives. Just having fun doing what they do. Thanks for letting me watch.

Thank you for posting. I used to keep poultry and had a Jack Russell border Collie and a couple of ferrets which I used to keep the rats under control. I lost my last dog a few months back no longer have poultry, can’t walk dogs any more, but I got myself a couple of ferrets. Love the channel reminds me of the fun me the dogs and ferrets had.
@@Vancedme A few scratches and bruises are inevitable, when working hard in a rough environment, whether you're human or dog. These dogs probably have better medical care than most of us, are up on their vaccines, get "paid sick leave" whenever they're under the weather, get plenty of exercise and healthy food, and have an owner that spends many hours a day watching them and will notice any issues. Not least, they love their job so much that every day is a trip to Disneyland. I'd say they're probably healthier and happier than 99% of dogs that have never gotten a single scratch or bruise.
I love Bindi! She’s so smart, quick, and efficient. My favorite thing about her hunting is that she Carries the dead rat and puts in the bucket. Gypsy’s a hood hunter too.
I’m curious how you keep them healthy doing this! Are there shots or medications they have to take to prevent them from getting disease? How do you take care of them if they get bit or are they usually ok? I’ve never seen dogs at work like this before, super interesting and satisfying seeing how stimulated they are in their work :)
Probably have to have regular checks for infections, likely make sure their vaccinations are up to date as well, to avoid rabbies and other diseases. Wouldn't be surprised if it's expensive.
Cleaning out the shed more would mean the rats would be flying all over, escaping, if no dogs were there to catch them. Having a person to pull out planks and stack them up on something outside (off the ground, to keep the escaping rats from hiding in the stack) would be helpful, if you could fit another guy in the shed.
@@sinchrotron She's like, Can't I just keep it awhile, and lick on it? Lol..Poor dogs gotta give up their prey. He should give them treats off and on for doing such a great job. They work their butts off!
This is probably the hardest part for any type of hunting dog. It's really hard for any lab I've ever had to want to give up the bird even when they're great at fetch they really just naturally want to keep the bird. Some with coon dogs I've never personally trained any but have been on a lot of raccoon hunts breaking in New dogs. It's really intense for them and if they get ahold of it they don't want to give it up
The camera man deserves a raise! That leg work to dodge the pups and still get good shots is top notch. Edit: Please make a montage of the all the crunches you hear after Boss gets em! Boss is deadly!
You dropped into my feed the other day, and I’m totally addicted. I think these videos are really important to illuminate the problems your clients are facing, the process you go through, and dispel negative stereotypes and opinions about ratting. PS: I would love to apprentice for you!!
I've a soft spot for Leroy. In the first videos on the farm, he was really obsessing over his catch. But in the latest videos, after working with the other dogs for a few hours, I'm impressed by how quick his behavior has changed. He's still once in a while holding onto a rat but more often than not now, he kills them and drop them to go for another target. Atta dog!
I know you've been conflicted about making Gypsy an official part of the pack given her weaknesses in speed and agility, but she absolutely killed it this run (ha!). She's got a slender enough build that she can wiggle into tight spaces and just pick off one rat after another, and her senses are spot on. I wouldn't pass up on that talent if I were you. Put her in the right situation and she is a fun-sized thompson submachine gun
Honestly gypsy is a loose cannon and I love it hahaha needs to learn not to take kills from the others and focus more and she’d be a solid sharp shooter for sure!!
Poor Gypsy was upset when Daddy took her rat stash! She was like, "NO!NO! I worked hard for those!" Watch her closely and you can see it. Poor baby. What a great little dog. Can't help but love her.!!
as a vet student, also interested in training dogs, this is actually so amazing to watch! the dogs get to use their natural instincts and hunt as a pack. It's perfect presentation of how the dog's mind work while catching prey AND working with their owner. It's just admirable how, even while chasing a quick, small prey, they still listen to your commands. I suppose they were bred for this, but just wow. The way they're always looking around and listening to every sound in case some rat ran out, and how they corner their prey, it's just so entertaining to watch. The only thing I'm worried about is if they get proper vet checks and I hope they're vaccinated, because they're exposed to many possibilites of getting some illness, but I'm sure that is taken care of as these dogs look happy and healthy :)
Ive been watching this channel for around 3 years and he's been going at it for around 7-8 years and he's never talked about the dogs getting sick. He's also mentioned that the rats in his area doesnt carry the diceases that people are most worried about in the US. I mostly watch the ratting videos, but Ive watched some training videos and his training and care leads me to believe that those dogs get the utmost vet care in the world 🥰 He gives the dogs breaks and water when its sunny and hot, and breaks for Bindi the puppy, and even brought one of the dogs older puppies to one of the locations so the dog could take a break and feed the puppies in between the vicious murdering lol When he got Bindi he met all the puppies and tested them in the forest to see which one would have the best adapting abilities for hunting. He even trained an argus monitor to hunt mice, but gave it away because he didnt have the time or space for it and was worried for its health when it started hurting its tail turning around in an enclosure that was too small. There's a toooooon of small details about Joe that I love about him and how he loves and respects his animals and the animals he hunts and if you were to look around, Im sure you'd find a video of him detailing vet care
@@Bruce6001 excuse me if I missed something in the video, but when I was clicking through it, there were many scenes where they pulled dead rats out of the ground.
The first time I watched one of these videos I had to watch it with the sound off. As an animal lover, it’s hard to get over those little squeaks they make when they’re dying. Would have to remind yourself that these are an invasive species and what these guys are doing is great! about five videos in, and here I am cheering for the dogs and minks!
right with you!! i try to at least understand the little screams also double as the rats being extremely pissed and it kind of gives me comfort knowing this is for the health of the environment, but maybe that's just coping lol. death is hard. it is very uncomfortable, you're seen and it's a valid feeling!
Also same here. It is painful knowing that these creatures have no conception that where they're inhabiting is going to seal their fate. And to think that they will die in a rather painful, if quick, way is hard to watch.
@donm.theefdmgboogieman2266 this is a fair point, still being upset about death is also valid. You can come to accept the factor of death without detaching yourself the empathy that comes with it.
For anyone keeping score: Boss: 87 Gypsy: 84 (including the ones under the boards) Bindi: 56 Leia: 51 Leroy: 43 Chuck: 3 alive Joseph: 3 alive Total 321/512 that can be seen or reasonably inferred
That was such an amazing day. Every dog was completely on point, well behaved, and performed their role to perfection! I've never seen anything like how many rats came out of that floor and I don't think they let hardly one escape. Daisy (aka Dutchess) nailed 40+ escapees out the back, so any the dogs missed inside never got far. It was the best executed and best teamwork I've seen on a removal!
Eh, Gypsy is constantly trying to steal the other dogs kills and not staying on the hunt. Has to be corrected again and again. Otherwise yes near perfect
@@Harkness78 Haha! Fair. That's just a Gypsy thing that one expects. She single handedly killed probably more rats than any other dog that day though, so her stealing tendencies were easy to overlook. 😁
@@chucklearnslithics3751 True, that tear she goes on under the floorboards is very impressive. Who needs a Ferret when you have a dog that determined and small!
Amazing hard working dogs really enjoyed this one, they all worked so well as a team, but must do a shout out to Gypsy, Laya, Leroy, not forgetting Bindi and Boss dog. Let’s not forget the supporting human😂🤣😂 who also worked hard as well.
Boss is a pro, Mindy is a thinker, Gypsy is an absolute work horse, Leia is experience and Leroy is the team spirit. Power team. All they need is Sherlock.
I am from England, Joseph has more control over his dogs than most people do with one, and praises all the time, what you give out, you will get back. Thrilling & exciting, thank you so much, hugs to all the dogs. 👍👍❤❤
Boss is low-key terrifying! He's like a movie assasin with a quick headshot and onto the next target. you can also see his intelligence when he sits back and watches the little dogs flush.
Sherlock is the ninja who works underground behind doors - BOSS digs out the pockets, Leroy and Daisy are the runners and Bindi is the BRAINS - the leadership. When she knows another dogs got one she stops chasing and goes to the next. It’s so crazy to see those dogs work together like a true team. That’s wild.
Bindi is the truth! Especially to still be a pup! Bindi and Gypsy are my favorites! Gypsy mainly cause I love hearing "Gypsy out!"😂😂😂 She be soooo ready to be the back up 😂
Imagine a world where you are paid for recycling. All materials that are bought/transported are in some way recycled. You get a tax break for planting trees, how much you recycle, and how sustainably you live. It might actually benefit people (most importantly farmers, and land owners) , expand parks, protected forests and natural landscape. Radical. Even more wild, what about cities with green space, vertical and roof top gardens. Apiaries, arboretums, fountains, ponds, cultivated gardens, community gardens etc. more people could live in the city, and would want to if they were nicer to live in.
It's funny watching boss walk around through the mess at the start. He's gently putting down his feet almost like he hates the mess but the moment rats appear he turns to a beast
boss is such an effective killer, one quick crunch on the head and he drops right away and moves on. then there's gypsy who's small and can get in the tight spaces. love this
Honestly? Best video you’ve produced since I’ve started following your channel. Please consider longer videos, more often. Happy New Year, Minkenry Family.
I've always wanted to let our family dog try something like this. She's a danish-swedish farmdog, colloquially known as a "rottehund" or "rat-dog." Bred for this exact thing, but there aren't that many rodents around here. Barely have to feed her with all the bugs she eats though, and she'll spend hours chasing moving spots of light on the wall like a psycho when there's nothing else going on. She'd be in heaven out there.
Joe, check Bindis right front paw. Around 5:36 she ran in the corner and began limping slightly. Later she isn't limping, but Owning a pit bull, I'm aware how much pain tolerance they have and how they well they hide injuries. I was so scared the whole time just seeing (in my head) one of the dogs impaling themselves with the sharp broken wood points. Ugh. And Gypsy is a little thief! She thinks she's entitled to everyone's catch. Lmao
Good eyes... I always say that.. They should clean up or try to get rid of the sharp wood and nails that be in those places.. One of these days, one of those dog are going to get their eye taking out..
I used to have a very small male ferret that did this kind of work as a hobby, he once pulled out an entire nest of mice from behind the neighbour's fridge in their garage. It got to a point where he was essentially ripping them in half and flicking them over his shoulder to get the next one he'd cornered. Your dogs are amazing
Some of those rats looked HUGE! Gypsy's enthusiasm is fun to watch - she has been a great addition. Bindi is like, Daaad do I HAVE to put my rat away? Boss & Leia great as always. Was this farm bedding dead tires?
Gypsy is a great ratter. She really uses her nose, feet, teeth, and brain. Great dog. Was wondering if you have to spend much time on wound care after the job is done.
I've just joined your channel yesterday and have watched several videos. I've notice each dog has a different hunting characteristics. Voss- Loves the chase more than the kill. Because after he catches the rat, I've noticed he doesn't mind handing them off to be completely killed. He loves the adrenaline rush of not letting them get away. Bindi: Take more pride in her kills and wants recognition for each one. So she makes sure each one is seen by dad, and accounted for by taking them to the bucket. Because she also loves the extra praise and gold star status. Gypsy- wants to touch every rat killed and feel that she took part in every single kill. So she tries to put her mouth on them, when their in her siblings mouths. She has so much drive it's like she constantly trying to put in the most kills. To work her way up in promotions, to one day become the CEO. Layla- Is a team player and always positions herself to go where she's needed. She's happy to help in the chase and doesn't mind someone else's stepping in for the kill. She just likes be apart of tasks.
@@Gaming-glitch23 Awww! I definitely didn't mean to leave anyone out. Now I'm new to the channel and so far I've only seen 2 adorable minx Sherlock and Badger, and I just now realized I left them out too. That just came out for the day to help out with the huge haul.
That’s almost 70 rats for each dog, and that’s a low count. I bet everybody was coughing and sneezing stuff up for days after that. Congratulations to the whole team they got this done. I would like to know if the owners of the property knew they had a few rats, or didn’t even notice them.

Bindy has turned into a valuable asset in your crew. When you made the first video with her as a puppy, I was confident she would be a great rat killer.
Wow, this is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. I grew up on a farm and we had outbuildings. However we didn't grow grains, we had racehorses. The surrounding farms grew vegetables, fruits, and corn. We had several outbuildings but they were not infested with vermin because the snakes and cats ate them. I don't even remember seeing a mouse, which is very strange. We had a cellar too, and a coal chute.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's expensive.
surprised none of the dogs hurt themselves on nails or other sharp objects.
I was thinking the same thing. You would think they would clear the shed out before they let them in for the dogs safety.
@@kellyspann9845if they did that, all of the mouse will fled.
I love how Bindi is such a good girl bringing the rats to the bucket but always seems to have trouble wanting to put the rat down 😂😂
Yep, it is a hard task for dog to do so
@@sinchrotron She's like, Can't I just keep it awhile, and lick on it? Lol..Poor dogs gotta give up their prey. He should give them treats off and on for doing such a great job. They work their butts off!
@@kellycarver2500 they do reward them plenty, it’s not like their prey is necessary for their survival
I love those crunches. Boss knows what he's doing!!
The speed, power, focus & teamwork is awesome in this. I've heard of dogs bread for hunting rats but have never seen it done in such a good way.
from what i know schnauzers are bred for rats
Gypsy is a little firecracker! All these dogs are amazing. They seem to like what they're doing.
She’s a thief though 😂
As the owner of 3 terriers and a big lurcher, this is awesome ! Love their characters; Gypsey always in trouble and Bindi being terrific ! Love it.
Im an big in 2 years 😊❤😊
Poor Gypsy was upset when Daddy took her rat stash!
As a vet student, no wonder, you'll get clients like the lazy owners' dogs on the video. They got hurt
@@pochola4550 lol no they did not 😂 what are you even talking about ?

Those dogs definitely earned their keep and more. They were amazing workers and so good at what they do!! Well done dogs!!!!
What typa animal lover even clicks a video like this lmaooooooooo yall do it to urselves
right with you!! i try to at least understand the little screams also double as the rats being extremely pissed and it kind of gives me comfort knowing this is for the health of the environment, but maybe that's just coping lol. death is hard. it is very uncomfortable, you're seen and it's a valid feeling!
do you like those squeaks when they eating your bread. or dropping terds on your stove
Those are probably the happiest dogs ever, they loving it

I kinda wished we could get this on the sports channel.
I love your channel pal. Keep it up
Eh, Gypsy is constantly trying to steal the other dogs kills and not staying on the hunt.
He is definitely the fastest, most efficient and coldest in demeanor. He’s like a black mamba.
Lurcher operate that way and are amazing to watch. They are also highly intelligent. They were originally bred as poachers dogs

If there was a used tire business in Utah, perhaps you could partner with them and have help removing these tire piles from large farms.

Wow, this is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. I grew up on a farm and we had outbuildings. However we didn't grow grains, we had racehorses. The surrounding farms grew vegetables, fruits, and corn.
