I like her energy. Like she's charismatic but bad ass at the same time. She's just a natural entertainer. She's kinda the "Casey Nistate" of the motorcycle world BUT better because she doesn't go all political.
Interesting interview on many levels, thanks to you both. I've been attracted to DoodleOnAMotorcycle videos for their infectious good spirit and open minded perspective.
Thanks for sharing the' behind the scenes' of content creation and the challenge of maintaining the interest of an audience. I couldn't believe how hurtful people can be when you guys are just trying to share your passion and make us feel like part of a big, caring, colorful and oh so lucky family! much love to both of you
I love listening to both m/c you-tubers talk to each other. Their conversation flows like two told friends talking to each other at a coffee shop about one of my favorite topics, motorcycles! Great interview and podcast…
I missed this episode when it dropped. I remember watching Doodle's first videos where she exposed her vulnerabilities about being a highly anxious person and going to therapy and now she is a confident and competent rider throwing herself at challenges. Very inspiring. And she did more U turns in a month than I will do in 10 lifetimes! I got dizzy just watching her.
Doodle, it is the smile you always show. You all don't realize that no matter how bad your day goes, it is uplifting to a lot of us. We live through you and your escapades.
She's been an inspiration in my riding. And being able to find other youtube riding channels to watch! Especially when I started in 2019. But even now with her 'gonna keep doing things' videos.
Great interviewee, great interviewer so great interview!! Thanks for making that happen, will for sure continue to follow you both. Any others like that on your radar?
Good crossover video. I initially saw Carolyn during that early phase of "pretty girl on a motorcycle". I guess some people like that stuff but it's devoid of content, and so shallow it's boring. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed that she ditched all that. She still seems to be experimenting with formats and production. YT, with it's oddball changes, seems to mess with co tent creators too, so I know that's not easy. I've heard if canyon chasers but this is my first time here. I will happily check it out and, I promise not to stalk Dave, lol.
If I may offer an unsolicited point of view regarding the 'you release your baby in the world and get a thousand views' mentioned in the beginning: when, during one of my shows, my band of friends filled a club with about 150 people - who then pulled a moshpit to one of our songs, I thought this was the highest of highs I'll ever reach making music. Point: reaching 1000 people may seem low only in comparison to some other videos, but reaching a full one thousand people, who want to hear what you have to say from beginning to the end - is a huge accomplishment, in my opinion - and is worth celebrating 😊
You are so exactly right! For those of us who put ourselves out there, we really shouldn't get caught up in the numbers - thats where we lose sight of what we probably set out to do. We do this because we want to connect with others, right. 10 or 10,000 - every one of those connections matter. You know?
@@CanyonChasers Agreed! What worth are millions of views, if 99% are from people who are simply playing a video game simultaneously, or killing time because they can't sleep - or watching it because its "bikes go brrmmmm"? IMO - its the audience quality that matters far more than the sheer numbers, and I believe your content is of such high quality that it attracted top quality audience 👍
Overall, our comment section is extremely friendly - I think because I'm in here amost every day. But we got two trolls right off the bat when we uploaded this video.
This was fun! Just started my journey on two wheels. Still terrified to crash and have no one really to ride with. Your content helps keep me getting on the bike.
I've been riding over 20 years - I'm still afraid of crashing. I think it's healthy, fear is there to warn us of risk or danger. The person who isn't afraid isn't aware; that makes them a danger to themselves and others.
i love the discussion about creation almost more than the motorcycle stuff! my naming convention for clips as a professional in video production is usually YYYYMMDD Project Scene Take (Note). I try to label all my clips every night after a shoot, and if it's really too busy or too much work, I'll have someone on set whose whole job is ingesting and labeling them. No idea how you guys do it on your own.
Thats awesome. I've actually started going back through old footage and reorganizing it. I was just doing YYYYMMDD but using the folder to list the project, but adding scene/shot into the name, now thats brilliant!
@@CanyonChasers oh yeah! it helps a ton especially if you can't afford an entire person to write down which part of which clip is good or usable in a log sheet. the day i do a shoot without a log sheet is the day i have forsaken my editors. it's way too common in the industry now, everyone needs to bring back the good ol log sheet.
even if you're by yourself, a little notebook where you just jot down a good clip number and timestamp while you're shooting can save you DAYS in the edit
There needs to be a space online for riders of all skill levels and genre/interests. There's some big holes in it, but I do think in the recent decade there's been a lot more personalities taking on the challenge of doing content full time, featuring whatever aspects of motorcycling that occupies people. At first, you may not get much interest or views, but there should be pioneers too, that introduce an audience to possibilities they weren't aware of.
I'll never understand people who take time to insult or put down other people or their work. If you don't like something or someone, why not just move on and concentrate on something you actually enjoy?
Great conversation and insights into content creation. It really sux that you two have to deal with trolls and stalkers. Trolls need to ask themselves if they would say what they type to their mother to her face before posting a word.
There's something about her that is entertaining and charismatic but bad ass at the same time. Carolyn is my sisters name too. Im also an entertainer. I'm a touring musician/ singer. I'll actually be on tv coming up. "Late night show" i would highly suggest that she get into firearms for safety. Being in the public eye is scary. In America we can defend ourselves and carry. She should carry. You just never know with nuts out there. Id be stressing if i were her husband when she travels. I love riding motorcycles and i see going to the gun range in that same fun way of learning.
I didn’t know there was a motorcycle matrix - I personally don’t care if people like or dislike if I put my leg out in order for me not to drop my bike. I apply this attitude with everything I do in life- I just do things differently and let other people be. 👍 Oh 😂 almost forgot- Doodle!!!!! Stop presenting yourself as a beginner- you’re not a beginner rider anymore, those were many moons ago 😊 I mean this as a compliment 🫡
Some dude said I sounded like an AI Droid on a video, nine months after radical neck surgery for metastatic cancer. Lol. I have nerve damage throughout and it changed my voice. I’m just happy to still have a voice, but now I’m like, damn, I do sound like a droid!
Great conversation!!!! I love Doodle and her videos. I have been riding for decades and now my daughter just took the MSF course and got her M1. The first thing I did was forward her Doodles channel. I really enjoyed this video and you two chattin’. You did a great job keeping everything “natural” and enjoyable. Again, a great video!!!
if i may point out ,they did have riding course back in the 80's ,as i recall my dad taking one when he got back in riding and i recall to that by taking the course ,you'ed get a reduction on your insurance ..
Riding courses were out there, but not as widespread as it is now. There wasn't anything available where I grew up and I didn't have access to a riding course until I was in university.
I see golf collaborations where some portion is hosted on one channel and the second part is hosted on the other channel. The worst ones are where it's just one person's content on their channel and the other person's content on the other channel. Why collab for that? The best are when you feel like you know what you're gonna get if you start watching the other channel. I watch both of your channels, so I'd like to see you collaborate.
Actually I learned a lot from the magazines back in the day. They had monthly rider tips and I would spend the month practicing. Dirt Rider magazine has taught me a lot

The number of close calls I’ve had( like EVERYONE else), photographic proof of fault is a huge deal.We all know how the conversation will go if you’re not there. Unless of course it WAS your fault: in which case the idiot will be patently obvious.
Data! Don't drink and ride. That reduces your risk by about 40%. Get trained. 36% of accidents involve untrained riders. Learn how to and employ trail braking. Running wide in corners is the leading cause of single-vehicle accidents. Always cover the front brake - thats the second leading factor in motorcycle crashes. It's all about reducing risk.
That's a hard one, their concern is both rooted in the evidence of you being more vulnerable on a bike than in a steel safety cell full of airbags and the fear of something happening. I'd suggest acknowledging that what you're doing does carry risk, this shows that you are aware of the risks and don't have your head in the sand. Then talk about statistics that matter - like most rider crashes are riders with little or no formal training. Talk to them about your training and experience. Let your partner know where the risks are and how you manage them, and maybe spend some time talking about modern safety gear technology and make sure you have the latest equipment (consider an airbag vest or jacket).
There's a lot more girl riders now. When i ride im seeing about 40% girls to 60% guys riding. It used to be very rare finding girl riders. I now see a lot. Same with the horse world. Used to be mostly men back in the day and now its dominated by woman.
I unsubscribe from Doodles Channel a few years ago, it just felt strange me being 55 years old following a Channel of a 30-year-old. Kind of gave me the ick Factor, especially when she started to talk about people stalking her online and her feeling uncomfortable.
Sorry, but after all the years Doodle is still an unconfident rider, severely lacking some basic riding and road strategy/foreplaning skills... With all those long trips and training courses, trackdays, etc she is taking, I don't see much improvement. At some point almost every video I watch takes a turn where I start to squirming in my seat.

One of my favorite things about Doodle's videos is how excited she gets at everything, especially her progress when she's practicing motorcycle skills
I agree. And I think it takes courage to be that honest about learning and showing the struggles.
