I had a Swiss army watch that I really liked. I damaged the coil while putting in a new battery. I watched Valentech's video on how to change the coil. The watch had a Ronda 315 movement, so I found a vendor that had a compatible coil. I replaced the coil, and low and behold, it worked again. However, I lost one of the screws that hold the coil down, so I put a piece of foam in the watch to hold the coil down. Valentech sent me a screw, but I damaged the new coil while putting it in. So, instead of getting another coil, I wanted to replace the whole movement. I ordered a Ronda 515(3) movement, got all my tools together, and took out the stem, took off the hands, fit the new stem to the watch and case, replaced the hands, and viola', the watch is all back together with the new movement ! Much thanks to Valentech, watching his repair videos gave me the confidence to do this repair. I did myself a favor, and bought some of the Rodico watch putty. I attached a small piece to a tiny wooden dowel, and that made it so much easier to wrangle those tiny hands into place. My father had left me a K&D staking set (made in 1902), so I had all the hand press tools to attach the hands. I was truly amazed that I got it all back together (haha). Working with those tiny parts can be difficult, but after watching and learning, and getting all the right tools, I did it.
Thanks Valentech, your videos are awesome !!

This was great, thanks. What do you use to push the hour and minute hands back on?

Thank you for the comment! I have a tool set with 7 nylon tips with different hole sizes for setting watch hands. Very often I just use those tips and my hand. Found it to be an easier and quicker way for this task.

Very interesting. 1st time viewer here. I have a watch that I really love with a "Swiss Movt. 515" that is not running anymore. Do you suggest I try to replace the battery myself (I have the tools and dexterity, I work in craft trades), or not risk it and take it to a professional watch smith? If I do trust a pro to do it for me, how much can i expect to be reasonably charged (USD) for this service? Thank you.

As you mentioned, you have an appropriate tools and dexterity. This is all you need, plus wanting to meet the challenge and be proud of it. Also, you can save some money. I think they charge in a range of $20 to replace the battery. But if you do yourself, please pay an extreme attention to the coil, which is not protected in any way in this movement. Remove and insert the battery slow and keep eye on the coil all the time. Good luck and please let me know how it goes. I want to be part of your success.

Please be careful when placing the watch face down with the hands installed.

Yep, I never do... besides if there is an elevated bezel, as it is in this watch. Hands are not touching the desk, it just looks scary. Thanks for watching!

I enjoyed watching this video. Thank you. I have a watch with the Ronda 515 movement. All is working well; only issue that is annoying to me is the second hand do not align with the marked indices. I plan to remove and reinstall the hands to fix the alignment issue. Any suggestions or advice?

Thank you for your comment! I hear you, it is not easy to match the second hand with time marker precisely. I use a Rodico clay to hold the end of the hand as close to center of the marker as I can, while putting it to the central axle. Even with this technique there is not always 100% success. But we always want to try. Please let me know about your result. Good luck!

Что ж так топорно делаешь то? Даже перчатки не надел. И орудуешь каким то огромным пинцетом. С часами нужно аккуратно обращаться. А ты как слон в посудной лавке.
