    hey Kevin, there's a tutor my school brings in on Saturdays to help us with physics and he's a marker for the end of year matric papers. he mentioned that we should add fgparallel and fgperd as solid lines on our freebody diagrams instead of having fg there however our teachers do it the way you do it. so as a matriculant i don't really know what i am supposed to do. my teacher said that i should use her way when writing our exams but she doesn't know about the end of year papers.. what do you suggest?

    • @kevinmathscience
      @kevinmathscience  3 года назад +14

      Imaan, I can promise you that the final exam memo allows for multiple options. You can use the Fg// and Fgperp method. OR you can use Fg as a vertical. The only thing you may not do is use both methods at the same time.

    Hey Kevin. There's something I really don't understand when it comes to that part of choosing a direction. Do we just choose any direction or there's something we follow before choosing a direction?

    • @ethanramsaru4572
      @ethanramsaru4572 4 месяца назад

      Choose any direction u like but commonly use the direction which has the most information makes life easier

    on the last example, how did we know the friction is 20? and do we not have to indicate the normal force on the free body diagram?

    Hey kev genuine question why did you subtract when calculate for the acceleration using the fg perpendicular and why didn't you make the 9.8 a negative because my teacher told it's usually a - 9.8 or is that wrong

    • @aliciamuseenzi165
      @aliciamuseenzi165 7 месяцев назад

    3:36 I dont get it... sin is supposed to be for the length further from the angle and cos is supposed to be for the length on the angle...?

    • @guyfriedman295
      @guyfriedman295 2 года назад

      oh I get it now.... you need to form another triangle on the lengths mg and F(perpendicular) with a 90* angle and a 20* angle, its a shame that its not in the video, it would have made it much more intuitive.

    • @kevinmathscience
      @kevinmathscience  2 года назад +2

      Hello :) I purposefully leave that out most times unless I have a student who is very curious. Reason being it sometimes causes more confusion and they do not expect you to show this or know this in exams. It is easier to always remember that parallel is sin and perpendicular is cos.
      I have found that 99% of students prefer that.

    • @kevinmathscience

      It is always 9.8 for fg, fg parallel and fg perpendicular :)
