  • Can you build the Megaton player house from Fallout 3 in Fallout 4?
    This was a build I started and abandoned a number of times before I came up with a layout I was happy with.
    Join me on a short tour of the project, I'd love to know what you all think of this one, so jump into the comments and let me know.
    If this is popular I have lots of other small build ideas, so let me know if you would like this to be the start of a series?
    If you enjoy the video and would like to show your appreciation you can send a one-off tip from as little as a dollar on Buy Me A Coffee

    We also have memberships available with a growing range of bonus content. For those who would like to join our growing community and help support the channel.
    Also, we now have a Patreon page set up on a pay-what-you-want basis for those that prefer that platform or would like to choose an amount themselves.

    What did you think guys? Did I manage it? Have you seen someone do it better? What would you have changed? Where should I build this in Fallout 4? What other buildings from past Fallout games would you like to see me try to replicate?

    You're going to need a lot of open space for this. Possibly Starlight Drive-In, it's got the large, flat area you need if you don't want to put it up high, or even if you do. Build it atop a third set of warehouse walls, then you can delete the walls and use the metal posts from the warehouse set to replicate the "stilts".

    • @FalloutPBC
      @FalloutPBC  Год назад +7

      That's an interesting idea, Duane! You have got me thinking about using one of the settlements with a high vertical limit. Megaton is very vertical with a lot of levels. I wonder if I could build the whole thing!

      @@FalloutPBC at the lower part of Abernathy Farm, perhaps? That's a place where the aesthetic would match the existing structure, and I very seldom use the lower area for *anything*.

    • @FalloutPBC

      @@duanekc The slope would be quite nice too and you certainly have a rediculous amount of vertical limit there. On the down side I do already have a video up of Abernathy. I'll add that to the list of possibles for sure.

    Really enjoy all your builds. I've been playing FO4 for the first time in years again and have been focussing on settlement building, so these videos are actually a blessing for whenever me whenever I hit a creative block. One thing I'd like to ask you tho, I love your narration (you have a chill voice that's pleasant to listen to), but could you maybe add a bit of Fallout 4 ambient music to your videos? I always feel like that music just adds so much more character to the scene. Thanks for sharing all your cool work!

      Personally, I'm not a big fan of background music in any format really, I even turn the music off in games, it's usually the first thing I do Lol.
      That said I will give some serious thought to using some more music in the videos where possible. You are totally right that it can add a lot of mood and character.
      Thanks for the suggestion and wonderful comment.

    As a fellow " child of the 70s and 80s" I appreciate the inclusion of the old-school arcade machine. Combine that with fond memories of many hours playing F3, and happy times are had by all.

    • @FalloutPBC
      @FalloutPBC  Год назад +3

      I was just saying to another viewer, this really did start to feel like the F3 home after a while. I really enjoy spending time in the place and I'll definitely be building it again out in a settlement somewhere.
      The arcade machine pack is one of those Creation Club packs that I didn't realise how much I would like it till I had it.
      I like my builds to be lore-friendly and at least somewhat realistic. So I wasn't sure the arcades made sense for people fighting to survive.
      But after giving it a bit of thought, I figured that most people growing up in the Fallout world would have no tech at all and would most likely be just as entertained and amazed by Space Invaders as we were as kids.
      So I'm going to build a full arcade at some point!

    • @dwarf_nz483
      @dwarf_nz483 Год назад +2

      @@FalloutPBC In my head cannon the existence of "luxuries" like arcade machines is that after the brutality of the wasteland the people need something to de-stress and unwind before facing it again. So arcade machines and the like make perfect sense to me.

    • @FalloutPBC
      @FalloutPBC  Год назад +2

      @@dwarf_nz483 Yeah I came to the same conclusion. I have two ideas in my head for the arcade. One is to put it in a large Brotherhood settlement I'm building, sort of as a rec room. Just as you said, to have some downtime as they have the most combat stress to deal with.

    After I built a replica of Home Plate for April Fools Day I thought about trying to copy some other buildings. The Megaton house was one I kinda wanted to build in Fo4 but I never got around to it. Maybe someday I'll give it a try although there are others I'd want to complete first.
    1:58 I wish they would have given us more of that Fo3 grittiness and texture in 4. The color palette in 3 fits the apocalyptic vibe so much better.
    2:25 I liked him more than Codsworth.
    Your build turned out pretty good. Does feel about 20% bigger inside than the real one does but you gotta work with the parts Bethesda gave us in 4.

    • @FalloutPBC
      @FalloutPBC  Год назад +1

      Sounds great my friend! I'd love to see what you come up with.
      The lack of the gritty vibe was one of the big things that made me abandon this a few times.
      I really like all the Mr Handy versions. I think the voice actor does a super job.
      I figured it was around 25% too big inside so you have a good eye. It was a bit of experimenting but a bit too big looked a lot better than too small. Plus I was pretty pleased with how the modern decorated version came out.
      It seems to have the right feel to it. When I spent some time there it did start to feel like the same place to me. I'm definitely going to put it into a settlement somewhere as a player home.
