I appreciate that you shared this story with everyone because I think now they can understand why not only do we think that you are the most awesome person but also how much that you have gone through to get to this particular place! A lot of people see the bubbly happy you on the Internet and they don’t understandthat your joy is contagious but also it has a big message
Like you I had a diagnosis where I was told to say goodbye at age 46. So many miracles happened over the next 2 years that inspired me to live life to its fullest. Almost 70 now, I have. Lived fully. My digestive track was rebuilt so now I enjoy protein drinks, smoothies and other nutrients that are easy to digest. Do not live by fear rather live life fully. So much to enjoy!
Well we know the reason your alive, you bring encouragement to everyone, and I would think especially to your three daughters. Having a mom like you must have been a great blessing.
Thank you, Dee, for sharing such an intimate detail about your life. I’m so glad you survived the surgery, for all those that love you in your family, as well as your friends, and all of us here on RUclips, where you are such an inspiration to so many of us. 😊❤ I feel like I know you because of how transparent you are in your videos. You’re so enjoyable to watch and listen to. You are so totally lovable! ❤ You never fail to put a smile on my face just seeing your radiantly beautiful smiling face. 😄Your fearlessness is just as contagious as your joy,Dee. 😀 Keep shining brightly! 😄😍🥰✨💖✨
Damn Dee, this one really got me. I had a profound "staring cancer in the face" experience with a loved one about 10 years ago. It makes all of life's little fears seem silly in comparison. Glad you're ok.
Wow, what a story! That explains the air of peacefulness I pick up from you-you’ve walked through the fire and come out the other side. People say I’m “so brave” to be doing van life as I am (full time for 11 months now, age 70, poverty level income, mobility impaired). And somehow, it doesn’t make sense to me: I’m just doing what I’ve been pining to do for years! Travel, really see the countryside, learn the history and natural history of the places I go. I love living outdoors! And I’ve had to deal with one of my biggest concerns very recently: my minivan blew a head gasket in an area will hardly any signal, and I had almost no money. Yet people came through for me and helped me, and my pup and I have a big new (2003!) van. I’ve been very fortunate, and am grateful. Thanks for this very personal video!
Just when I believe you cannot be any more awesome, you prove me wrong again! Being just a social media friend, I am so thankful for your life constantly enhancing mine through your videos. You are amazing and I am thankful you stuck around! You are loved!
Inspiring! I’m much older than you Dee, and just got back from my first trip in my little camper van. So much fun! Ladies, even if a part-timer, don’t let age (another fear) stop you. Happy trails to all.❤
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story. I decided to do solo camping when I turned 50, it was the best thing I have ever done, married with two young adults allows the dog and I to camp and travel a few times during the summer months. I'm not afraid anymore to be alone or travel or hook up my truck to the camper. Very empowering! Happy travels! I'm on my 4th year!
You brought tears to my eyes. Here's to a life well lived. Thanks for sharing such an important reminder and for letting us tag along on a small part of your journey.
Thank Dee for sharing with us a very personal story. I too a fearless due to an autoimmune disease brought on by stress. I’m living life on my terms now and love my life, but wish it didn’t take so much physical pain and loss to get here. xo
Yes please I would love a video about the specifics of how to overcome fears. I'm wanting to become a nomad at some point in my retirement but want to have all the info I can.
The whole video speaks so loudly of your beauty- and the last 45 seconds have especially encouraged me in so many ways. May the Lord continue to protect and guide you. 😚
Just heard the rest of such a horrific event for you.....I too am suffering from intestinal disease(diverticulitis) & it's been an uphill battle to say the least. I've always been a so called 'Health Freak' but discovered recently more than ever before how much our diet actually/really effects us. I stumbled off my better diet & got caught up in the quick stop food chains & what a huge mistake it was. Almost 2mos off FF & back on my healthy foods & feeling better already. We ARE what we eat!!!
So true ❤you’re so brave … I was on the road last year for 8 months…sienna minivan broke down…Transmission Rusted frame, shattered) Monroe, LA.. stranded for 7 days…. I was afraid to call my son snd let him know… Then I called him… stress was overwhelming. He came 😌.. This Time I’m making sure My Van will be sound mind.
I live in New Zealand and those fears you mentioned are just as seemingly real here. I too faced a life threatening diagnosis and survived and now live life to the full. Im hoping to become a nomad too. Love your videos i have learnt a lot from you.
Glad to hear you pushed through this mass you had. 🙏🏼🙏🏼. I did had cancer in my cervix which I caught in time. 🙏🏼. I know the feeling once you hear cancer. But the of come for me was to remove the cancer and get a whole hysterectomy with no cancer in any of my lymph nodes thank goodness. 🥰. So glad we both lived to see life with our girls which I have 4. And our granfkids ❤
Thank you, Dee! You are such an inspiration. I thought my procrastination to starting “van life was due to trying to figure out what kind of rig I needed. I have to admit after watching your video, I am most fearful of vehicle troubles, fear of finding a place to sleep every night, road conditions, “critters in my van”…. Looking forward to seeing your “FEAR” series you’re thinking of. Keep giving us the benefit of your knowledge and road wisdom!
You always dispense the best advice! It breaks my heart hearing your illness story again, but thank god you’re here!! Keep living your awesome life. Love you, friend ❤
You know, about these fears, most of these fears come from your inside. Don't ask yourself to much, what would I do if?... All that kind of nonsense. Be aware of the fact that cars do break down, be aware of breaking in do occur, also when you life your live between sticks and bricks. Be aware you can get sick, whether you life in a house or in a van. Some and I dare to say many of these things are pretty common. All these questions like what ifs, make you afraid. The only thing which you should do is, being aware of your surroundings and stay save! When you don't trust something, a specific spot or someone, just leave. You have the opportunity, use that opportunity! You can leave, certainly when you life in a van. Nobody is saying to you to stay put! Good video! With love ❤️ from the Netherlands
Yes you are right. Lots of people imagine or experience a problem and it can overwhelm them with disastrous results. The key is to focus on the cause of the problem and address that first rather than dwelling on the problem. Your health history is a very good example of this principle. You are very brave and i wish you good luck. ❤
Thanks courage to share your experience of bodily health. I suspected something drastic happened to you, that thankfully you overcame. Hopes for your living life and that your heart will lead always.
This explains so much about you, and who you are. I'm so sorry you went through this but can see how much it gave you. You're a wise soul. This is exactly the message i needed to hear today. I lost my sister young and know exactly this thought, fear of not living is far bigger than anything else. I somehow forgot it for a while. Thank you for sharing your story and for reminding me of that important lesson.
Thank you for taking the time to write and encourage me with these kind words. So sorry about your sister. I understand that loss too. Yes…we all need the reminder now and then. I’m glad you were encouraged🥰
Thank you for sharing your story with us. My story: I deployed to Iraq and was injured in combat... not everyone there survived. I travel full-time in my 4Runner now because I, too, do not want to miss the rest of the life I have been blessed with.
Thank you so much for sharing your story! I’ve been planning for van life for almost 2 years now and the closer I get the more I’m running into walls of fear, largely because I just finished cancer treatment and I don’t want to rush into another big change even though I’ve done so much planning. Your advice on fear is really helpful (even though I’m still trying to take it slow) and I really relate to being more afraid of not living fully than dying.
Thank you, Dee, for giving me the words I need to explain some of MY whys to others. I have a difficult time expressing what I mean, so your words describing YOUR whys really help. Go LIVE!!!
Thank you for sharing your story Dee. I don’t really don’t have fear of starting van life and my van is pretty much built out. Unfortunately I’ve had some major family issues to deal with which has kept me grounded to my home area. I’m really hoping that I can get on the road this fall. Maybe I’ll see you down the road sometime.
Thank you for this video and for sharing your personal story. I would very much like it if you’d do a video on each one of the fears that you listed. I didn’t follow through on my dream to go full time, even after buying a van. I was afraid of violent people, mice, and inclement weather. I sold the van but am entertaining the thought of buying a car suitable for sleeping and camping.
I know several friends who travel in cars and SUVs or minivans. It is definitely doable. Thanks for the feedback on wanting more. It helps me to know☺️
What a story. We, many of us, have one. Mine started very young with a parent that, I thought, would eventually end my life. They didn't, but I have an outlook much like yours. I've been all over the world, helped raise 6 kids ( my wife is a saint), and still, in retirement, am taking off to parts unknown! My wife loves her flower beds, so stays home mostly, accept for a few weeks out of the year in winter. What can I say? She puts up with me and my wandering soul. Good luck to you~
Thank you so much for you vulnerability and sharing that incredibly powerful story - it has deeply moved me and I am at a place in my life where this resonated with as I am saving up to go on the road when my daughter leaves the nest next year. I for one know that my biggest fear is if something happens to the home on wheels I will be homeless - but everything is less scary with a dog and i WILL be finally getting my pup of my dreams to ride along side me on the road. I adore you and your channel - hugs from NZ!
I am so glad it resonated with you! That is a valid fear. Is there a way you can rent your home so that in the future you have it to settle back to? I think it is important to think through all the scenarios. I know as I get older, I will want to be more stationary-whether that’s on a piece of land somewhere or a tiny home that is not on wheels. I have plans and budgeting in place for that future. ☺️
Thank you so much Dee for sharing so personally. It is very helpful as I have let fears and health issues keep me from launching out in part time vanlife. I have my van and took a few wonderful trips, but then just stopped for several reasons, fear being one. You always inspire and I am so grateful for your videos. I know they are work. I would love to see follow up videos interviewing vanlifers who had different specific fears regarding vanlife and how they addressed them through on-the-road knowledge, if that makes sense. For example, the fear of not knowing where to park each night and learning how to find places that are safe and legal. Or those who travel with current health issues. Thanks again for all your helpful information and inspiration!
Thanks for sharing your story! I’ve been wanting to get out and live as a nomad for years and had a similar health crisis 18 years ago. My husband and I finally began our journey about a month ago and have never been happier! Can’t wait to start sharing with others on our own RUclips channel❤
Beautiful and inspirational! I only lived out of and traveled in my car for 7 months, but it turned out to be one of the most healing endeavors I've ever been on. Thank you for being a part of my journey 💜
Wow!! You are such an inspiration! Your story is such a great reminder to not sweat the small stuff. In the grand scheme of things, life is short no matter how long one lives and we need to live life before it is too late. We are blessed every day that we wake up. You are the perfect example of one who lives her life with gratitude and lives life to its fullest. Thank you for sharing your story. Before my mom passed away, I got to tell her everything that I wanted to say to her. I'm so grateful that I got the opportunity to do that. Your telling your story made me realize how much it must have meant to her too. So thank you!!!❤
You're such an inspiration and role model for me, Dee. I'm about the same age as you. Thank you for sharing something so deeply personal; it will help a lot of people. My biggest fears are of ending up destitute, old, sick and alone. I feel very blessed and grateful for many wonderful things and experiences i have had; but I've made some really dumb decisions in my life, which have led to my precarious situation now. I feel like 'enough now' and want to leave the planet while the going is still good. In a year I will turn 60 and Im very, very afraid.
My thing is this, I work right now as an RN. I just turned 60. Too many times I'm taking people to the morgue who are....the same age as me....slightly younger than me or slightly older than me. I'm currently caring for a very elderly family member, but when the time comes and they move on to heaven....out the door I go.
Wow! Thank you, Dee, for sharing this poignant story of your personal life. I shared all those fears you pointed out when I hit the van life road in 2021. However, the excitement of fulfilling a dream overcame all of them. I would deal with each one when I was faced with it. All of those fears dissipated as the months and road miles passed. It became easier to roll with any punches, especially the overnight parking in urban areas. My "gut feeling" kept me out of trouble. Great video with awesome advice, Dee!
Dear Dee so glad you are still here and glad you shared such personal info…I so enjoy your videos ..thanks for sharing ..have a great weekend and as always be safe and careful!
Wow thank you for sharing a very important part of your personal life. It takes courage and determination to get out on the road and be a full-time nomad. You have that in spades. Safe travels.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. We all come to this place from a different path, but learning about other journeys helps us as we move forward.
Very powerful story Dee… that you for sharing such an intimate life experience with us. At 19 I was a passenger on my boyfriends motorcycle when we were broadsided by a drunk woman in a station wagon. My left leg was the impact site. It threw my BF 30 feet, and trapped me under her car, underneath the bike. The woman took off running and hid. Obviously I survived but it was touch and go for a month. It was over a year of rehabilitation and although I lost 2”, the surgeon saved my leg. I, like you, became fearless. That was 50 years ago. Somehow in the past few years I’ve misplaced that sense of independence and adventure. I have a very protective husband and I notice I’ve allowed his concerns to rub off on me. I would be interested to hear how you’ve dealt with uncertain and frightening situations. Thank you! ❤️
Yes Girlfriend, please make a video on each and every one of those fears. I dont know when I will start my van life. Hopefully soon. But...YES...MY FEARS ARE HUMONGOUS😮😢😊😊.
fear wasn't keeping me away from vanlife, but i was afraid to travel long distances away from friends or family. I just returned from a solo trip half way across Canada and I've never felt better! idk about coping methods. I basically just sucked it up and headed out. breathing exercises help for anxiety and getting a proper sleep is vital.
So glad to hear your story. Lots of appreciation for telling us about it. I have an auto immune disease that scares me being out n about. However, my life just changed on May 5th. I will need to stay working but can now get on the road with less stress holding me back. Klyde2 will be coming soon. Thanks Dee you always have great advice, and ease a lot of stressfull questions we might have. 😊 ❤️ 🍀
Thank you for your openness. Glad you are back in good health. I not fearful because I have the Lord with me . Question for you do you have a home-base or is everything In your van ?
Your van is so nice--I would love to have one just like it. Rent/utilities are killing me, so I have to decide soon what I can do to help myself. Fear of being stranded alone and the wrong person stops to try and help....life is tough sometimes. I give thanks for your channel--hope you're safe, I've subscribed🤔
Wow. That's an amazing story. I'm sorry to hear you had to go through it, but it has a beautiful ending. I do have my fear of breaking down but I will save enough to cover repairs before heading west. The van I have now has way too many miles on it and too many things that could go wrong for it's age, but it's fine for being local and I do have a Subaru if it breaks down. I have broke down a ton over the last 53 years so when I decided to live in the van, I wanted to be prepared and kept the Subaru but my sister will get it when I leave. The driving fears I have, well, I'll just have to get over them or avoid those curvy mountain roads. Once I get west, I plan to travel rather slowly unless I am with others. Oh, I do have a friend that is going to teach me how to do certain mechanical things like brake pads. Repair is so costly but that will save. I have 5 more weeks on my lease and I have emptied out my apt, mostly as of this weekend. Oh, I managed to find a 8 ft skinny Thule cargo box for 175 bucks so it's currently in the back of my van and will get installed Wednesday. Yay! Hehe I sew so I'm going to need a bit extra storage because of it so it's a game changer for me and I am so happy to have it. Hehehe I've already went out and camped a couple of times and know how I feel about it. I love it minus the bugs of course but that's even doable. So, this video has confirmed I have addressed my fears I believe. Thanks, Dee! Happy trails!
My fears are something happening on the road (I travel with my 2 dogs), high winds when driving (I tow a small camper), and just general anxiety doing this alone.
Thank you for sharing your story. I appreciate your information and have gotten so many ideas. I love the aesthetics of your van. I am in the process of looking for a van! Looking forward to see what this life has for me!
I am so moved by this video. I want to get out there and I tried and gave it a year I just had a ton of anxiety of the "what if's" so I stopped. Now I rent a duplex I am retired longing to go back and give it another try.
I’m glad it inspired you. There are many ways to enjoy vanlife. Maybe you start with what you are more comfortable with and build on that. Little steps forward are still moving you forward ☺️
Oh my goodness Dee, I had no idea what you had gone thru! I am so glad that you have your health issues under control. This has been a great video in that you really do give me pause to think about what's stopping me from doing the things I truly want to do. Thank you for sharing, and I hope you continue to have so many adventures and living big for a long long time🥰🥰
I appreciate that you shared this story with everyone because I think now they can understand why not only do we think that you are the most awesome person but also how much that you have gone through to get to this particular place! Thank you for sharing your story with us.
My story: I deployed to Iraq and was injured in combat... not everyone there survived. I travel full-time in my 4Runner now because I, too, do not want to miss the rest of the life I have been blessed with.
Thank you for sharing that with me☺️
What a scary thing to have to go through! I'm so glad you're still here and that it wasn't anything life threatening!
I’m glad I’m still here too! Thanks for listening🥰
I understand! You definitely need to take your time…you will know when it’s right for you🥰
Thank you, Dee, for giving me the words I need to explain some of MY whys to others. I have a difficult time expressing what I mean, so your words describing YOUR whys really help. Go LIVE!!!
I’m so glad it resonated with you! You got this 💃🏻🙌🏼💪🏼
Thank you for sharing your story Dee. I don’t really don’t have fear of starting van life and my van is pretty much built out. Unfortunately I’ve had some major family issues to deal with which has kept me grounded to my home area. I’m really hoping that I can get on the road this fall. Maybe I’ll see you down the road sometime.
You’re welcome! Yes, hope to see you down the road😊
Good luck to you~
Thank you for sharing part of your story! That’s a good wife!!!☺️
@@LadyBugout she's my best bud!
What a fearful time in your life Dee. So very glad you recovered and shared your story. Bless you dear.
Thank you so much! 😊
That’s great feedback. Thanks will see what I can do☺️
Beautiful in every way.
Thank you! 🥹
Thanks for sharing your story! I’ve been wanting to get out and live as a nomad for years and had a similar health crisis 18 years ago. My husband and I finally began our journey about a month ago and have never been happier! Can’t wait to start sharing with others on our own RUclips channel❤
That’s awesome! I’m so glad you are loving your best lives💃🏻🙌🏼💪🏼
You are so brave. Thank you for sharing your story. Safe travels ❤
You’re very welcome. Thank you for listening☺️
Beautiful and inspirational! I only lived out of and traveled in my car for 7 months, but it turned out to be one of the most healing endeavors I've ever been on. Thank you for being a part of my journey 💜
That is so wonderful to hear!!!🙌🏼
Wow, you are awesome. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad your living your best life. God bless you 😊
Thank you so much!🥰
Your personal testimony was overwhelmimg.
I hope not on a bad way…I meant for it to be encouraging🐞
Just here for the beauty, voice, smile !
😁
So thank you!!!❤
Thank you for sharing a little of your story here too. Yes, I agree…life is too short to sweat the small stuff🥰
I hope that you see that it is worth trying to overcome your fears and keep going. You never know what is ahead!!!☺️
Thank you so much for sharing a small bit about yourself😊
Thank you for saying that. You know I don’t usually…so, thank you! 🥹
My thing is this, I work right now as an RN. I just turned 60. Too many times I'm taking people to the morgue who are....the same age as me....slightly younger than me or slightly older than me. I'm currently caring for a very elderly family member, but when the time comes and they move on to heaven....out the door I go.
I do hope you make the time for yourself. Life is definitely too short🥰
@@LadyBugout 💯
Thank you for this nice reminder that we have to live our best life.
You are so welcome🥰
Yep. I think experience helps so much. Once you face things, it reduces a lot of anxiety. ☺️
Dear Dee so glad you are still here and glad you shared such personal info…I so enjoy your videos ..thanks for sharing ..have a great weekend and as always be safe and careful!
Thank you so much, Vicki! I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well🥰
Wow thank you for sharing a very important part of your personal life. It takes courage and determination to get out on the road and be a full-time nomad. You have that in spades. Safe travels.
You are so welcome 🥰
So glad you're here!
Thank you🥹
I'm planning on a van life within the next 10 years.... I'm 60 atm. Fear is what I have, so this video is awesome... thank you 😍
I hope you can do it some day. Glad it was helpful ☺️
Thank you for sharing your experiences. We all come to this place from a different path, but learning about other journeys helps us as we move forward.
Well said!🙌🏼
Very powerful story Dee… that you for sharing such an intimate life experience with us. Thank you! ❤️
Thank you for sharing your equally powerful story!!!
I will have to think about how to share handling scary situations. Thank you for the input 🥰
Yes Girlfriend, please make a video on each and every one of those fears. I dont know when I will start my van life. Hopefully soon. But...YES...MY FEARS ARE HUMONGOUS😮😢😊😊.
Yes, I would love to see videos on those too!
Thank you for that feedback! It helps as I plan.
fear wasn't keeping me away from vanlife, but i was afraid to travel long distances away from friends or family. I just returned from a solo trip half way across Canada and I've never felt better! idk about coping methods. I basically just sucked it up and headed out. breathing exercises help for anxiety and getting a proper sleep is vital.
I’m glad you sucked it up and feel great!!! I agree sleep is vital to manage so many emotions!☺️
😊 ❤️ 🍀
Sorry to hear about your autoimmune disease. But glad to hear you are less stressed 😊
Thank you for your openness. Glad you are back in good health. I not fearful because I have the Lord with me . Question for you do you have a home-base or is everything In your van ?
🙌🏼 everything I own is in my van ☺️
Thanks for sharing your story. You have given me the courage that I needed. Thank you
I’m so glad you were encouraged☺️
Thank you for sharing your story. You are an inspiration!
Thanks for listening🥰
Right !, Love it. A great attitude, really helps everything else. 👍 Rock on 🙂.
Yes it does! Thanks for stopping by☺️
Amazingly beautiful person. Thanks for influencing my decision to travel in my new van x
Thank you! Enjoy 💃🏻🐞🚗
That is a very small van, i have too much shoes and clothe wouldn;ot fit , and thank you for your story , hope you are living your best life.
Yes it is! But it works for me😝
@@LadyBugout I'm sorry if i have offended you, did not mean it the way it sound to you , peace.
Your van is so nice--I would love to have one just like it. Rent/utilities are killing me, so I have to decide soon what I can do to
help myself. Fear of being stranded alone and the wrong person stops to try and help....life is tough sometimes. I give thanks for your channel--hope you're safe, I've subscribed🤔
Thank you for being so supportive and encouraging. I do hope you can overcome your fears ☺️
That’s so exciting to hear. Glad things are coming together. Having a huge cargo box will be helpful!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you for sharing your story!
You are so welcome! Thank you for listening to my story☺️
This is a huge wealth of useful information. Big thank you, LBO
Glad it was helpful!🙌🏼
Awesome Dee. Thanks for sharing your heart with us.
You are very welcome🥹
My fears are something happening on the road (I travel with my 2 dogs), high winds when driving (I tow a small camper), and just general anxiety doing this alone.
Those are valid fears!!! I can’t imagine towing something in high winds. Small steps and experience…💪🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼
Thanks for telling us your story.
Thanks for listening☺️
Thank you for sharing your story. I appreciate your information and have gotten so many ideas. I love the aesthetics of your van. I am in the process of looking for a van! Looking forward to see what this life has for me!
You are welcome. Glad you are looking forward to what vanlife has in store!!!💃🏻
Thank you for sharing. God Bless you and may you remain healthy and happy. Love watching you channel 💖🙏
Thank you so much, Mary! I appreciate that and do not take it for granted 🥰
Great vlog Dee, I appreciate you sharing your life experience. Be well!

Wow, Dee, you were right when you told me I would cry. 😭 This was absolutely beautiful and I'm so so so glad to know you and have you in my life. 🥹♥
Awww… thank you for being a part of my life too. I enjoy your companionship and sense of humor💃🏻
respectfully...as an over-the-road truck driver in my youth what you guys do seems very tame...and very safe...
I can only imagine! I have a lot of respect for truckers☺️
Oh my goodness Dee, I had no idea what you had gone thru! I am so glad that you have your health issues under control. This has been a great video in that you really do give me pause to think about what's stopping me from doing the things I truly want to do. Thank you for sharing, and I hope you continue to have so many adventures and living big for a long long time🥰🥰
Thank you, Martha. I am so glad that is the effect it had…I was hoping to be encouraging 🥰
Thanks, Dee. You help a lot!
