Every time I go to the Italian restaurant, I say to myself, "OK, this is the day I finally just sit there and let the waitress grate the entire block of cheese into my bowl of soup", but I always chicken out and stop after five seconds or so...

I have a 3 sided box grater with rubber feet that snaps together on one side and so does the top that I hold on to. When I'm done using it I unsnap it and it's so easy to clean and folds flat to store away! Bought it 20 years ago from Target! One of my best buys ever.

ATK recommends the silicone spatulas from Di Oro and I was happy with the product, so I got the paddle style grater and zester set from Di Oro too. They're a bit pricier than other graters but perform better than others (even better than microplane in my opinion) and comes with a lifetime warranty

I have the grater/microplane from Oxo, and sadly it's pretty bad. It's not sturdy so it bends easily, even though there is rubber at the sides it slips, and the top end can come off so it ends up in whatever it is you were trying to grate into. The teeth are also pretty small and with no extrusion, so things like ginger and hard parmesan are really hard to do well.

I have that exact same box grater as in the video, the handle snapped off the second time i used it, i also notice it has that rubber bottom and rolled metal edges and cheese gets all inside the gaps and you will never be able to clean it out, the paddle grater is probably a better bet.

Don't forget the peeler! I use a vegetable peeler for a lot of my "grating" needs. Makes quick work of parmesan cheese. You get slices, and if you want smaller pieces you just grab them and crush them in your palm or in your fingers. They easily crumble into little pieces. When it comes to grating cheese, I usually reach for a peeler or a knife. It's easier to clean, and I'm often using them already. I tend to use a knife to quickly cut up cheese that I'm going to melt. But when you need to truly grate something, you've got to have a good grater. This video has good advice.

I can confirm, the discs for the Cuisinart are fantastic. At least the shredder disks. I use it for grating mazzarella cheese, parm cheese (the real deal and a 3/4Lb can be done in seconds) and other cheeses, including cheddar.
