I bought / installed the same Kolpin 48-60 universal plow on my ATV 2011 Arctic Cat 550 TRV (2-Up). Instructions stated 45-60 minutes to assemble the blade. I started at 8:30 AM, had 1.5 hour lunch and completed at 2:30 PM. Yes. That long - with a large cup of coffee and my reading glasses. Retired people with bad knees/hips take longer time. smiles. For my ATV's under belly, I used 4 x U-Bolts and 2x2 hard wood spacers. And I cut off the tips of extra long U-Bolt threads as well. During its install I did add a few more flat washers and greased its swivel points. All installed "as it should" and very happy with its looks, with its ease of angle change and with its safety tilt ability. It's worth buying "on sale". Recommend this adjustable plow...
I just wasted a lot of time building this plow by reading the terrible instructions book that first tells you to install something, and then when you go to the next step, you have to disassemble the thing you just did to add something else. I wish i found this video before i started. You made things so much easier by laying it out the way you did. Keep up the good work.
Glad i found this before trying the instructions 😂 instructions are only good for checking which bolts to use besides that this guy is way more easy to follow. Still took me like 2hrs start to finish lol
Thanks very much I'm putting on a 2014 Can-Am Outlander 1000 Max Limited the directions are kind of a pain in the ass I was able to get this done in about 45 minutes to an hour with your video thank you making it easier!
@@austanhall yeah I got it on wasn't very tough took about an hour I'd recommend getting the guiding sticks that go on the side of the plow it makes it a lot more helpful
the way you assemble this plow looks much faster and more efficient than the way the instructions that comes with the plow tell yo to do it. either way, this seems well built, very heavy duty materials. very easy to assemble
I got the UTV switchblade it’s the same but adjustable 60” up to 74” . This year I’ve put it on my 2023 Honda pioneer 520 as a 60” setup without the push tube extensions. Last year I used it on a parking lot on an s10 Jimmy as 74” with the push tube extensions .
Update: Since my below post I also bought & installed rubber flap (for top of blade), corner marker posts and 1 x side universal wing (made it fit) and 2" PVC pipe on its cutter blade (to protect my gravel driveway). I also bought / installed a Snatch Block with 2" wheel (can also use 2.5" wheel version) - for its hoist cable. These optional upgrades are worth it as well....
Hinge lever bracket needs to be shimmed in the back bolt so plow will pivot more easily. I installed it on the polaris 570 and the mounting bracket fits very good just ahead of the battery but you have to grind the metal battery box on the corner very little.. Very pleased
Between the video and the instructions it went well. The video is too simple and the manual is too technical but together they do fine. Finding a mounting place was kind of interesting but in the end it was fine. A good heavy duty product. I'd buy it again - but just know that it takes more than 1 hour to assemble.
Hey Guys, Just yesterday I put this blade together with a friend, it does only take about an hour, only on my 2021 Sportsman 570 the Mounting bracket just didn't line up with the photos in the directions or the pictures that Kolpin Emailed me after we started freezing our asses off trying to get it mounted. In the end we figured out a way to do it with 3 U bolds like required ( NO TIRE RUBBING, NO BORING HOLES IN THE FRAME. NO BENDING THE FRAME) as I've seen in some Comments and other videos, if you're bending the frame you're doing something wrong... In the end it works without issue. Best to line it up to the frame before hand and make the call yourself. Otherwise I've seen some long term reviews, seems to check out as far as durability goes. Just try to lift the box when you buy one lol, its heavy duty. Non the less it's a decent cheaper alternative as oppose to going with the factory one from Polaris. Happy Plowing.
If you need help with the universal mount it you may need to buy a surmount for certain machine and what you'll need to do is there are holes in your frame and you grab your you U bolts and your bracket and then tighten them down against the frame make sure they both go on both sides and then you'll be good
at 4;48, he tells you to tighten the pivit bars up, don't tighten them, just snug them so the thing pivots. when it is caked full of snow and ice and your freezing your ass off outside trying to loosen the bolts, you will thank me
I called Yamaha for a new Warn plow mount for my 2021 grizzly and they said it would cost $252 plus tax, thought that was kinda steep for a metal plate so I did some research found this Koplin Switchblade. Box said 1hr. I had it together and on the bike in about 3hrs. I followed this video and ran into a few issues(tighten bolts then having to loosen them to do the next step) overall went together pretty easy. I had to remove 1 piece of my skid plate to mount the plow mount which isn't a big deal for the winter. 2 things I don't like, where the winch hooks up to the plow(to straight up/down, very little lift) and hooking it up to the mount was kinds of a pain in the a**. I ended up having to use a car jack to lift it into place. But for $359 cdn + taxes in can't complain, we'll see what it doesn't tomorrow when the storm hits.
Just got mine on sale at Cdn Tire and mounted it today on my side-by-side. Also found the same issues following the order in the video here in that I had to reverse my steps because various bolts on the 2 vertical brackets wouldn't set straight for tightening. Got it worked out in the end and as for lifting it into place, not sure what you did exactly but it supposed to just rest on the ground and all you should need to do is lift the far back end of the bars/arms up into the mount/harness and pop the lock pins in to hold it in place. As for how it worked out plowing, it was a breeze on my Yamaha Wolverine X4. Effortless plowing.
It took me a lot longer to install mine as well. I assembled it in my garage. I had it lifted up to get under easier. I cut the bolts underneath like it says to. Lowered the 4 wheeler drove out the garage and tore out the bottom plate that the door goes down to. So on my 4 wheeler it is too low to the ground after the plow is attached!!
Push tubs are really short, very difficult to mount on a 2012 can am outlander 1000. Skid plate on can am makes it really hard to mount also. Need longer push tubes!
Could I mount this to my American Landmaster L7 UTV? It is basically the same front end with the wrench like the ATV in your video. I just want to make sure it will work before I purchase one. Thanks
Has anyone else bought the utv set up and put it on a atv? I did,the only thing different is the size of the blade obviously and the mounting bracket is longer.
Installed this 8:58 blade on my 420 honda when a move blade from side to side half inch from front tires am I mounting the mounting bracket wrong winch cable interferes with swing handle
I was wondering the same thing. I just put them as low as they would go as per the video and tried my first snow clearing and it worked well. I think it's just an offset if for some reason you DON'T want your blade scraping the ground when all the way lowered.
the bolt holes did line up on the right side of the plow, after putting it together 3 times, worst thing i bought in a long time,i got mine a lowes, they took it back with no trouble
Your video was decent, you need to be more specific about which piece of hardware goes where. I had to jump back and forth between the video and the instructions because you didn’t tell me the exact nut or bolt that I needed.
First of all, both of our customers that bought these units gave up and brought them in for us to install. With over 200 pieces of hardware, lousy instructions, and a "universal" mount kit to deal with, they chose to pay us $60 per hour and negated any savings on the cost of the plows. The mount install included grinding, cutting, and repeatedly installing in different locations until the front tires didn't rub the mount at full lock. What a misleading piece of information you have provided.
What did you mount it on? I'm not a mechanic and a friend and I did it in an hour in -20. Only weird part was the mounting bracket on my 2021 Polaris 570 wasn't lining up, but we figured it out. Otherwise it was a walk in the park. No drilling or grinding and cutting.
This is the biggest piece of shit plow. Horrible fucking directions and all parts misnumbered. 6 hours later and still can’t get the damn thing mounted.
