    This with a neon hit air or helite airbag vest is a tempting option for Texas summer in town rides. My tech air vest and jacket flow lots of air for what they are but it's still hawt, especially in town stop and go

      For sure more layers = more heat. When you are moving it should not be too bad. Standing still is another story. - Van

    I bought one and love it for the summer heat. I'll be wearing it under my jacket when it cools off.
    It's not a jacket, bit it's A LOT better than nothing.

      @@rocketrollsvlogs7625 That's a lot, did you lose an arm? If so, you could probably just wrap the flapping arm material behind you and secure it with a clothes pin so it won't be so loose. Only hard part will be learning to clap with only one hand. Good luck!

    I was wearing a cheap made in China plastic armor and mesh over a T short when I hit a Deer.. I went sliding down the road feet first on my stomach .. The Mesh had no Abrasion resistance.. My arm was trapped under my stomach for a bit.. The top of my forearm got road rash as the mesh ripped up .. Also under the plastic armor only covered my rib cage.. the mesh had holes at my belly button as did my T-shirt..
    I also would like to see mesh armor pants that go over Blue Jeans.. Padded knees hips and tail bone..

    Is the Armor removable? If not, how are you supposed to wash this thing? I would think after time, that close to the body, it would start to get a little funky

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад +5

      No the armor is sewn in. To wash this I would use a mild detergent and line dry it. - Van

    Would it be possible to cut more D30 pads , perhaps for replacement of the foam an to double up on the D30 for better protection. ?

    Hey Van. Not sure if you or someone else will reply me. I've just started a job in corporate environment where I have to wear professional attire - full sleeve shirts and pants. There's a rule here that we cant leave jackets hanging off our chairs, we can keep them in lockers but the lockers are limited and already taken. So that means I cant wear my textile or leather motorcycle jackets to work, so I've not been riding to work at this new job.
    So I'm looking for base layers with kevlar protection that are thin enough to wear under a shirt. This Icon Field Armor is pretty close to what I want but I'm wondering is it thin enough to wear under a shirt? I've already found protective base layer pants.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад +1

      IMO this is as thin as you will find while still offering a reasonable measure of protection. To be honest it will be difficult to find something to fill this application. - Van

    Why isn't is CE rated? Looking for something for green lanes, an my mountain bike. This might be a good but with I could gauge how good it is for falls like that? Getting old and don't heal like I used to

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  4 года назад

      The protection this offers is pretty casual at the end of the day. This will help a bit but not as much as a proper jacket with armor will. - Van

      There’s another video where it is suggested that cutting the impact protection into more flexible panels lost the certification, even though protection is mostly intact.

  • @mdalikazi
    @mdalikazi 5 лет назад +1

    Actually this looks more protective than a textile jacket. Why is it not?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад +2

      The armor is not ce certified and the shell of the shirt is not as abrasion resistant as most of the textile jackets on the market. - Van

    I have had the Field Armor compression half leg pants for over a year now. The armor does not hold up, it has split apart in multiple locations and the stitching is separating. I would not recommend these. Build quality is not up to par with the price.

  • @whatsgoingon71
    @whatsgoingon71 5 лет назад +1

    No abrasion resistance to speak of. ok, that is self explanatory. But not even level 1 rating for the "armor"? This is the most pointless way to waste 150 Bucks on riding gear...
