      Haha, not everyone, I wish. You can see in your analytics how far people are watching and a typical average is about 50%. But of course that means some people watch all the way through and some watch 30 seconds, a minute, four minutes, etc. Sometimes it's a bit depressing when you make a 20 minute video and you can see people are only watching 4-5 minutes or whatever on average. But then that tells you you need to improve and do something different. Anyway thanks guys, super appreciate it.

    • @iannicholson9569
      @iannicholson9569 7 лет назад

      Akash Verma Gabriel answers your question Is Ganges not Ganges? Ganges is a holy river in India. And as such many wish to have the Ganges as final resting place. As you go south from the source of the river the human population on its banks is incredible. So it becomes very polluted. Varanasi is famous for its burning ghats and their are many bodies decomposing in the river
      So on a map the Ganges is the Ganges but the actual river is a many splendours thing.

    Hey gab Ganga was born from ewer of Lord Brahma . She was married to kuru King shantanu once she met shantanu on Banks of river shantanu proposed to marry her but she agreed on one condition that he won't ever question about her actions. She gave birth to seven boys one after another and she drowned all those infants in ganga river. Shantanu was devastated by her action but he couldn't ask her due to his promise to ganga .When eighth time she was about to do the same shantanu couldn't bear that he stopped her and broke the promise and asked her why was she doing all this .Then ganga revealed this is attributed from mistakes from your past life due to which Brahma has cursed you and she didn't drowned the eighth child and she parted her way with her husband and submerged in ganga river along with infant and King shantanu kept living lonely .After sixteen years they both showed up and ganga gave him her son though she didn't returned that child was a teenager by now and started living with his father his name was ganga putra devrath (Son of ganga devrath) He was a invincible warrior and was fully devoted to his father.
    Hope that helps

    I visited Rishikesh in 2009 with my brother. We were part of a group of travelers from Ireland (myself and my brother) and the UK on a three week holiday. My abiding memory of Rishikesh is having breakfast in the “Ganga Hotel” watching four local Indian gentlemen carry a dead corpse down the beach towards a Hindu funeral pyre on the shoreline whilst the rest our group where white water rafting downstream :-(

      deepti gurchan if you don't have any knowledge related to sikh religion then why you are giving false information.
      10th guru of Sikh religion(Shri Gobind Singh ji) had made compulsory to add singh in male names and kaur in female name (at the end of name)
      Sikh is a person who follows Shri Guru Garanth Sahib and it is not any sub name.
      Yes there are many rajpute's name with Singh word but not all where as all sikh names end with Singh or Kaur traditionally.

    Good to see you visit Rishikesh. While you were pointing out to not trespass the wooden gate, it most probably had been told by the local authorities to obstruct it. You managed to be at the bank alone, may be because it is winter now and authorities might have lessened their surveillance in the area. But it is very dangerous to visit the banks alone because every year there are many cases of drowning. This is so because the sand in the river pulls the person down and it is not possible to swim out of it. This has occurred lot many times. I would recommend you to please be extra cautious from next time and try and have someone around you while taking a dip in the icy waters of the Ganges. Hope you have a great tour ahead.

      Good question. You just never know in India. Often it's more about your luck than the specific place. Rishikesh is definitely one of the quieter places in India though, and places in the Himalayas like Dharamshala, Manali, etc. Smaller towns in general will be quieter.

    FIrstly, its not a swimming its a dip. Secondly, Ganges look so calm however it is not and hence not recommended to swim atleast in Rishikesh since the water flows at a very high speed...The whirlpool created inside the water can engulf you any time and then its the end of your life... Thirdly, you definitely can drink water in Ganges in RIshikesh since it has many medicinal quality as the water flows through various herbal plants/jungles in the form of small streams before it merged into the mighty Ganges.... If you keep Ganges water for years in a bottle, you wont see any worm development due to it strong medicinal power......As the river flows downstream yes it gets polluted and there even i may not recommend to drink water but At Rishikesh its all good, fresh and serene....

    Its a dream for most of the Hindus to take bath in the holy river Ganga at least once in lifetime.I am surprised to hear that you could do it many times over your journeys to India. Hindus take water from this river and keep a bottle of it at home. When anybody is in death bed, it is considered giving water from the holy Ganga will help liberate the soul from mental bondages with the material world and will give eternal peace after death. Even after one's death, Hindus keep a portion of the ash of burning the body to be flowed in Ganga to give moksha ( liberation from bondages of life time with relatives and material world). Haridwar is one of the best place to take bath in the Holy Ganga.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Tom, thanks for the donation, I just sent you the ebooks. As for time zones, I don't really have a particular solution for that other than saying it's a pain in the butt. It messes up my sleep and often takes days to get back on track. It depends a lot on what time I fly in. If I arrive somewhere in the morning or middle of the day then I'll try to get some sleep right away, which often means I wake up in the afternoon or evening and then am stuck awake late at night. If I arrive in the evening then it's more likely that I can get to sleep that night and then get back on track quicker. So I don't really have an answer for that one other than I deal with it as it happens and it's always annoying.

    @gabriel traveler Just one question to you dude. What is that that makes you keep coming back to India? I really want this answered. You have been coming to India for 18 years!!!! You could have explored sooo many countries in all these years. So why India again and again?

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  7 лет назад

      I plan to answer that in an upcoming Q & A video when I get the chance. I have been to a lot of other countries over the years though, 46 in total.

    According to our spiritual Indian friends Mother Ganga can defeat all germs and pollution so it is pure wherever you swim. I took a dip near Patna, which was the most polluted place I have ever seen. The dirt and paved roads where covered in diesel and oil, as was the earth in the city. Since I already had diarrhoea I figured things could only get better. -:)

    Gabriel, this is the third video I have seen on your vlog. You seem to have spent a great time in India. I loved the background music like in this video there is bhangra. The other one had a very nice sitar and tabla instrumental. This enhanced the wathing experience. Have you ever been to Ayodhya? Although it is not a popular destination for westerners, it has so much to satisfy the appetite of a curious traveller vloger. I would love to spend a day or two with you there if you chance to visit it. It would be good if you conclude your videos more smoothly.

    Question Gabe: I am looking for traveller insurance as well. We are going on a long trip around the world soon. Do you recommend using this travel insurance? Is it the best? and cheapest travel insurance?

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  7 лет назад

      It's the insurance that I've used for the past decade and it's used by a lot of long-term adventurous travelers. I only filed a claim once, when I was robbed in Bogota. I didn't get much back, but in fairness I mostly lost cash and they don't reimburse for cash. I'm not an expert on insurance so I don't really know if they're better or worse than other companies, but it's quite cheap and very easy to purchase. I think insurance policies are pretty standard, so it's probably as good as any.

    • @SparlingAdventures
      @SparlingAdventures 7 лет назад

      Awesome man! Thanks for the quick response!! Ya I looked it up and its fairly cheap insurance for what you get. Especially if your travelling very long term. Thanks man!

      Hi, I explained in a note at 3:03. Yes it's called the Ganga in India but for some reason in English we called it the Ganges, not sure why: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganges

    Regarding the pollution you mentioned here, would love to elaborate that beside of the HUGE Pollution, Ganga water still has the highest amount of dissolved oxygen in its water than any other CLEAN river in the world. And this is the reason of its medicated abilities............... Keep updated.................
