I have cut Joints in Round Material, such as Steel Pipe, and steel round tubing since high school and now I am 72.. I have always used Oxy-Acetylene cutting torch. I am CURIOUS how many joints can you cut before he Hole saw in RUINED or "dull". I have used a LOT of hole saws on Electrical Boxes etc. My hole saws get too dull to use QUICKLY. I have TRIED to sharpen them, but they do not sharpen worth a damn. What is the trick to making them LAST??? They are NOT CHEAP EITHER.

Great Question - We've been able to get over a hundred notches with a single hole saw. We were notching 1-1/2" OD x .083" wall tubing at a 90 degree notch. The trick is to use notching lube and have a fine balance between the cutter speed and the amount of pressure you're putting on the hole saw. In the end, the hole saw is a tool and we need to let the tool do the work. When we push it harder, it will break, so its important to be patient. One last tip is stopping the hole saw about halfway through and removing any debris from inside. This can often times be the culprit as to why people have trouble with hole saw notchers.

@@TrickTools All of that makes sense. "Abrasive disc" chop saws even can be used up in one or two cuts if the operator applies to much pressure, you have to give it "time to cut". Lubrication and blowing the chips away are bound to help. Thanks for the reply.
