How do you choose your glove?

I will try a glove and then evaluate Fit & Durability. Most gloves stretch out and many do not last. Once I find out that fits and lasts, I stick with it. I try other gloves from time to time just to make sure there is not something better. I am a FootJoy StaSoft guy ,but have tried many others. The only one to crack the FJ dominance in my bag is PXG. The PXG glove may be the best glove I have ever used. I am a Cadet M/L and the fit matches FJ, but it also molds to your hand and does not stretch out, and lasts like iron. The price is comparable - I highly recommend the PXG glove.

I like the rain glove idea.. I'm all for cooler designs. As for how I choose my normal gloves it is based off of fit, grip, and durability (in that order). The CaddieDaddy Claw Max is amazing and my current glove of choice

Since I live in Colorado I don't have to worry about humidity so I haven't played with a normal glove since the 90s. When I did, I bought based on fit, feel & price. And once I found a great glove I didn't change. I do buy rain gloves and have found that the TaylorMade Rain Control gloves work best for me because they come in cadet sizes. They're great for winter too.
Since I play without a glove I'm always looking for a better grip. I always go for some kind of cord & am currently using Royal V Sand Wrap. Grippiest grip I've ever tried.

I like the idea of the customization of rain gloves, however I think if a golfer were to do that at the open the old school golf etiquette snobs would shun them

It’s possible. It could depend on the scenario.
