I'm a volunteer firefighter and I have climbed on roofs of houses and some buildings before, but I don't know if I would be able to climb those high buildings in the city with smoke constantly blowing in my face and with all that heavy gear. I can't imagine what it's like in the summer months. Give thanks to our New York City firefighters! They are definitely New York's bravest.
My educated guess is that if you are a volunteer fireman, you would do anything to save the lives of others. Don't underestimate yourself and thank you for your brave service!!
Being well trained, working with well trained brothers in front and behind you is not necessary being brave. It takes a special breed to do the job. I’m sure you would be right along them after a few hundred runs in a year or two
rare to see it, can understand why the ladder was angled that way from that angle. plus guys close enough to grab a member but far enough away for clearance
Looks like getting to the fire scene is as difficult as getting to the burning fire. Everyday heroes who would probable say they're just doing their job. Thank you for all you do.
Not necessary unless the middle part of the vehicle is aligned to allow for a hose pass through. Driver is likely getting a pair of traffic tickets totaling nearly $2000 (parking in front of a hydrant $300, Interference with an emergency vehicle $1500) After the fire the vehicle gets towed away for about $400 plus $200 daily storage charges at the impound yard located nearly a hundred miles out of the city. Don't worry this driver is going to feel the sting......at least that's how it works in my city.
Just started watching. That's a truck crew who knows their trade! Absolutely fantastic footage of the ventilation operation. Great work, brothers! I cannot forget the crew on the interior. Yes. That's how it's done.
The FDNY has some of the best trained and most aggressive (in firefighting terms) personnel in the US. They fight thousands of fires a year, each one just a little different from the next. Takes alot of courage and dedication.
It's ashame because I feel like they don't get enough credit or recognition for what they do. It's an extremely risky job and it takes a special person to put their life on the line to save others. People don't think about firefighters until they actually are in a situation where they need them. God bless them for always being there for us! 🇺🇲🧑🏻🚒🚒
Reminds me of a fatal house fire we had in Germany: last night, Ted Herold a.k.a. Harald Schubring and wife died in a house fire in Dortmund - Berghofen. He was dubbed the "German Elvis Presley" R.I.P.
Holy shit i know where that building is?The light wind we had today didn't help it today .that's on 107th st right off of Third Ave The landlord of that building's going to have to get somebody up there soon to patch up the roof or else when it rain later this week water's going to be going into apartments. That building is above a store shop in on the ground floor it's a 99 cent store
FDNY, nice knock-down, I'd love to know how safe that left top corner is? That's a fairly big crack, you see fire there are ya worried that corner/cornice isn't safe?
Awesome coverage, what camera do you use? Wish those hydrant blockers would be impounded by law. Roofies getting a work out, nice shot of a dangerous job.
@@anthonybressler4404 nope not at all this is happening way to much in all five boroughs just last week they knocked out the rear windows of a land rover FDNY isn’t playing around!!
maybe it’s my Bostonian ears but it sounds pretty normal for an aggressive attack where they are trying to prevent spread to the adjacent attached building and the command need to know if they need another alarm and where to put still incoming companies
Seems like 100.00 fine isn't enough, make it hurt their pocket book, am a volunteer fireman, know first hand how long it takes to hook up to a blocked fire hydrant
Oh darn no broken car windows 🤦 I see they do give out tickets. Hope it's a big fine. Wish they would also tow the cars😱 Excellent job from all the fire fighters 🥰 no way I'm going up that ladder to the roof 😱
I was an ambulance dispatcher for 8 years, using both analogue radio systems and digital, looks like the fire chief and all appliances are on the analogue for speed and the benefit of a small "closed" channel. "AIRWAVE" and other digital systems are awesome but there was a 2 to 3 second delay between paging them, and getting a response with digital. Analogue is fast and dirty but if you need to cut across another transmission in emergency,.....I'd rather have the old school gear .
This happens to be great footage. And also look at the physical work that's going into venting and opening up the soffit the roof to look for fire, and also vent. Now this just in the day oh, imagine at night time. Say the winds blowing 30 miles an hour with counting rain, or let's say it's snowing. When you jump off the tip of that ladder onto the roof sometimes they're not lined up evenly. Now let's take into consideration the turnout gear the Scott pack and everything else they have to carry with them. And that's just the truck company. The engine company is busting their humps trying to get water on this fire humping up two and a half inch hose to the roof into the fire floor and other areas. But this equipment in men could not access these places without the professional wits and knowledge of all the chauffeurs and pump operators from the truck and engine companies as well. And you have your division company with the chief set help this go in a smoothly orchestrated fashion as well as keeping all of them brothers safe and sound. These guys are truly professionals. What would we do without the FDNY they Ain't Heavy, they're our brothers.
I'm just wondering if there happens to be a collapse hope not but if you're going to have the possibility of collapse I don't think you going to have a clear collapse zone for all the fire vehicles because the street is so tight
How much is that ticket for parking in front of a fire hydrant? Suspend their drivers' licenses for one year, maybe then people will learn not to do it.
Do you folks not tow cars parked in front of fire hydrants? In my city these cars wouldn't be there for more than 30 minutes without being towed away. That's two hydrants within the same block that have cars parked in front of them. That's ridiculous for heaven's sake.

This parking in front of hydrants is out of control in NYC.
It happens all the time they don't care as long as they got a parking spot
The police wrote him up a ticket that's about a $100.00 or more
The Mayor’s problem that is not being addressed !
that's an issue we simply don't have as we don't have any above ground hydrants on the sidewalk which someone could potentially block
The cops should tow those vehicles to an impound lot, and hit the owners with a $1000. fine for obstructing FDNY operations.

Great job! The overhead footage from the adjoining building showing the roof operations was outstanding. Thanks!

They should've bust the windows out of that car that's parked in front of a fire hydrant and ran the hose through to teach that driver a lesson.

Busting the windows is the last resort in some cases it can be the command officers decision
Needs to be a ticket and interfering charges being this was an actual 2 alarm fire.
