Me & my husband are native Montanans in the bitterroot. I always wanted to be on a ranch. My husband helped on a ranch in eastern MT, we now own a cow calf operation & absolutely love it & learn new stuff all the time. We are looking into direct consumer selling finished beef as well. Ranching is not easy & beyond a full time job that people don’t understand.

Very interesting listening to this young lady. Her drive to get where she is today from her teen years in learning is amazing and I would think most people wouldn't have the ability to wait and work toward a future payoff. I raised sheep about 20 years ago. We sold lambs to local grocery stores in spring for meat. You have to know when your ewes are ready to breed and be sure ram isnt breeding too early so you are having lambs birth in January or February when it's almost too cold where I was living then. Not too many people know lambs born with tales and you have to watch out for over-eating. They were a great deal of fun to raise ed and you can raise on not too many acres of land. In the end, you do it because you love the lifestyle. The advantage today is social media and farm raised meat. Caroline, you have created a wonderful life for yourself. Congratulations. I can identify with Caroline, as a child crying her whole trip home after a visit to Montana. My mother was born on her grandparents ranch in Milligan Canyon out of the Three Forks area. The summer I was ten, we went to visit all the Montana family. I had the time of my life! It was devastating to go home. I cried brokenly. And I was robbed by not getting to grow up there. I love the outdoors, all animals, the solitude & have a deep connection with the land. Im content with animals, the sun, grass, rocks & trees for company. I have even learned to embrace the wind. I am so enjoying your channel. Thanks!

I see Caroline sports a Stormy Kromer Cap. Alright! With her years of "Apprenticing" so to speak & her drive, she will do just fine. You Go Girl! Bravo to you. There is a local meat supplier here in Alamogordo, NM. They buy quality cattle from local ranchers and, with their USDA credentials, butcher & sell them in varied form; half's, quarters, etc. in Choice & Prime quality meats. The meat is so much better than what the big grocers offer. And their pricing is fair. They do all of their 'marketing' via social media. And, so if your Lamb/Sheep/Mutton sales cause you to sell out of product, obviously it is working well . Keep it. Excellent interview Trinity.

I’m not a rancher. I grew up in a small family business in Arkansas. Oil production. Sounds wonderful but it too was much like a farm or ranch environment. I rodeoed through college and majored in Agriculture. I say this to say I totally get what you are presenting and encourage you to do more. Our society has become so darn soft and ignorant really. Love the passion you and your interviewees have. Thx!
Amazing. Thank you so much. We grew up in the suburbs, but my daughter also decided to become a rancher. She did get a degree, but also has raised cows, sheep, fowl, and pigs. She's not yet as big as this operation, but grows each year. You have given me a whole new perspective!

Thank you for these videos. Living here in northern frozen lands of Minnesota it opens a persons eyes to all the different farming. We have acres of old farm land that is just going back to forest it’s sad to see that so many farms have disappeared over the years and most of my generation and younger have no clue what all goes into farming and how the process works. Hope the ribs are getting better! Thanks again
Interesting how things work with different characters. I met an older married couple on the Washington coast who were running a property to park RV’s and rental park models, that had been life long cattle ranchers from Montana. Their kids had no interest in taking the ranch over. They were glad to be done with all the hardcore aspects of ranching.
This gal comes in with a total heart & desire to make a go of it by hard work, persistence & some rare luck by the ranchers who gave her opportunity. Certainly has to be a heart drive. May God bless all your efforts.

Great content! Live in the UK, my family owns a farm back in Brazil and the unfortunate truth is that farming has become more and more difficult, worldwide. The increasing difficulties to being a farmer is no different in Brazil than the US - boggles me as to when things started going downhill and the reasoning behind it but it’s content like this that keeps us motivated and proud of the trade! Great interview with a very intelligent and insightful rancher. So many ranchers are actually very diversified to supplement their lifestyle. They sell beef, fenceposts, firewood, cut timber, do excavation work, just like what BSC does with her retreats, sheep skins, etc... Well done BSC!

Excellent video. I can really identify with the young lady. I am in my late 60's and have always made my living in the beef cattle and sheep business. I run commercial sheep in The Finger Lakes area of northern NY State. Our environment is totally different but a lot of the concepts she brings up are very relevent. She provides some really true insight to what the livestock business is about. It is refreshing to watch a quality video by someone who isn't a regenerative ag snake oil salesman trying to sell a book.
My wife and I are working towards a homestead🙄 situation. We are going at it from a different approach. We both have professions that are relatively profitable, my wife is a nurse and I own a small construction business. We made a fortunate land purchase of 2.5 acres and a home ten years ago when prices were low, we paid 180k for it and it is creeping up on 750k at current market value. We both grew up on farms but we are learning more about animal husbandry through a variety of livestock that we keep for various purposes. We have pack goats and two horses as well as chickens and meat rabbits. I work on my friends ranch with my horses any time he needs help, including fence work, not just the fun stuff. When our children are older and we are burnt out on the jobs we have, we are hoping to sell our current place to get a larger property on which we can raise a larger quantity of livestock and hopefully manage to turn a profit. I think we can pull it off but only because we have many years invested into our trades and are able to earn decent money.
This was an excellent segment! She is so smart and so realistic in her approach. I’m sure she and her husband are going to continue to build a successful business.

She's right on track. I raise Holstein dairy steers because they are cheap and easily obtained on a regular basis. I also raise Romney sheep. Since Holsteins need to be raised on feed I raise my own feed, ear corn and hay. I sell my steers for 100% more money than I could on Monday morning auction. My hay and feed crop program is going down the path of regenerative farming. The steers are confined at this point but my sheep are mob grazed through most of the year. Awesome job. Wish you much success.

Trinity, have you been taking supplements for your ribs? I broke five ribs and took a lot of magnesium, silica calcium and vitamin D and was back to work doing construction in 3 weeks.

The best way to get started into a ranch is start out with the tiny farm of a few animals at a time and a few different other livestock like chickens and turkeys and fruit trees p like apple trees start out with a small garden and find out what products you can take to the farmers markets in Salem

I'm impressed Trinity. For the life of me, why don't more ranchers everywhere introduce Waygu genetics into their heard? Waygu beef semen or even embryos are fairly resoanable. It seems to me to be the easiest way to value add to your product. Start with 1 or 2 and build your own herd from there. Just a thought.

Wow, what a driven person. I'm native in the southwest. My paternal family still has a small heard of sheep. My dad's youth heading. Great grandma has an estimated 1200 head of sheep, not uncommon for the time. Love your attitude and your drive, your well on your way to success!

This young lady is amazing in her drive, intelligence and love for what she (they) are doing. If you love the ranching lifestyle you will find a way to make money to support your dream. Forget making a lot of money but there will be good years and not so good years. Our family owns a fairly large ranch in coastal Northern California and the people who lease it for cattle treat it as if it is their own. They are like family to us and are always looking out for our back so we can keep this ranch in the family going on 108 years. God bless you as you keep on ranching your dream.

Good insight. We started with nothing and have stuck with the barest minimum needed to run our sheep. Moving from the west coast to rural Missouri to raise a family on a farm. No days off for sure so you better love it or you'll hate it!

My farm truck is a 1988 F-150 that used to be my brother's. My hauling truck is a 1999 F-350 that I bought used from my ex-husband. The best feature of my pick-ups is that they're PAID for. I'm a retired racetracker back in my hometown in TX Panhandle. I raise a few goats and dogs and I'm horse poor. Blessed to be on family farm The siblings don't farm but we have a great farmer on a 25% lease. I use 20 acres on the homestead for my use. The nice thing about my goats is they graze on whatever my horses won't eat. I just found out that my local meatpacker and others throw green hides away! Where do you go with your hides to get them tanned or do you do it yourself? I hate that they waste them.

Hello! I just wanted to tell you that i Love your videos. I think you do a great job. Love the music too. I love it when you play slow music to a beautiful landscape in slow motion. I live in Florida born and raised. I would not survive your winters. Here it is very hot and humid. It does not snow here, one year we got flurries but it melted by the time it touched the ground lol.

I too am trying to build up my honeybee farming business debt free. Milking cows every morning and working for one of the biggest beekeepers of the Netherlands and growing my own business with the pay i earn working for others until the day i can be in my business full time. It is quite hard trying to build up without loans or owning any land, it is the lifestyle and the love for raising livestock that keeps me going 😊

This video was excellent and I am following this young lady now. Never to old to learn! I have 2 plus acres in a farming community in Massachusetts and 2 acres cost $250k with nothing on it.
