That's odd I just built a 18v lithium 18650 pack for an old drill, I used the original battery box cut out the bottom of the battery box and dispensed with the BMS why? You think I'm mad, well no not quite, what I have done is put in place balance leads, and I will do a simple balance check every two or three charges and anytime the cells go out of balance I will simply connect the battery to a balance charger and rebalance the cells.
For sure I do run the risk of damaging the cells if they go to low, but I can use a balance meter like used in model charging to check on the cells should I consider the cells running low or simply recharge them.
As for the potential of over heating the cells you can use a fuseable link which I haven't done to protect the cells if you demand too much power from the cells, but more likely the type of drill I have used will burn out the motor before that.
Also too much demand will mean the cell connectors will burn out before the cell does, I'd done this before.

Hi kasyan. When you charge the pack up. Will a original Makita Charge accept the non-original BMS? or do you then use a seperate charge for this?

Do you think the 3D printed case is drop proof.
Is it necessary to put fibre tape around it?
