- We finally transformed our Hallway into a Monkey Bar Gym and the kids are loving it! It's been a great way to get to wiggles out before bed and use up that last bit of energy =). Check out this video to see how we built it! Since we set it up last weekend, we've added gymnastic rings, a ladder swing, and resistance bands. The whole family is getting a workout!
This is a quick How To / DIY video on building it. Parts I used were:
► 8' x 6" pine wood from Lowes / Home Depot
► GRK 5/16" x 3-1/8" Structural Screws (amzn.to/3t8MA6W)
► 41" Eastern Jungle Gym Ladder Rungs

Got ideas for what I should build next? Slide? Zipline? Fort? Tree-house? Playground? Rock climbing wall? Leave a comment below and let me know!
Awesome! This should be a standard feature of all architecture from now on.
Yay that's so fun! I wish I had monkey bars in my house! 😆
Thanks for your support! 😄🦄😄
Best dad ever!
This is great! How do the little kids get up to the bars?
We have a hanging rope with knots that they can climb up and also an exercise rubber band that after bouncing up and down a few times, they can get the height to grab the bar!
Okay my question is whether the wood can fall off if too much weight is put on it?
The bolts drilled into the studs are rated at 840 pounds each and there's at least a dozen on each side. Should be strong enough!
Siiick
What would you say is the spacing between the bars? Have you tried doing pull-ups on it? I am hoping adults can use it for pull-ups so wish to have bars spaced for that too, so that way it always stays on while kids grow bigger.
41 inches. The screws I used in the wall studs can do 800 pounds each and I have over a dozen of them so it’s pretty strong. Adults have done pull ups perfectly fine. Here’s where I found them - www.easternjunglegym.com/yellow-swing-set-monkey-bar-ladder-rung-41-long-pack-of-8
@@HackerDad thank you so much for the reply. And how much gap is between two bars, is it about 15 inches?
I read 12 inches was recommended. It sounded too short but I ended up doing so with this target in mind (maybe with some error margin going up to 14 inches). It actually worked out well at 12 because kids have the option of skipping bars. For an adult you just have to be conscious of possibly hitting the back of your head when doing a pull up because the bars are close
@@HackerDad Awesome, just what I needed to know. In my case, the hallway is only 35 inches, so I feel bummed that I cannot use those 41 inch bars you recommended. I am leaning towards plumbing pipes, instead.
@@lxn99 that's what I am thinking of doing. Black iron 1/2 inch thick pipe that I thread and screw in the circular flange on the end. Using the same wood runners and screws as hackerdad.
coolest dad ever! do they sell monkeybars on amazon?
They don’t. Not the longer ones. I had to buy it direct from the manufacturer
Cool

How did you find the exact length of bars to fit width of your hallway? I’m looking to do this also!
I found monkey bars from eastern jungle and they happened to fit exactly so I got a bit lucky. Hope it works out for you!
I should install these all over my house and just use the ceiling to walk

Amazing bars!
I’m lit so bad at monkey bars that I only have 1 or 2 hands on the 3rd bar
Edit: I finally did them and I went to the end a few times but the bar got slippy but I went to the 5th bar
Hack the house! Hack everything!
