so if a kwikset deadbolt cap remover key is needed to take off the cap, will a kwikset rekey pin kit work? or do i need a shlage rekey pin kit ? thanks for the video, i just got 3 u300's
They cap remover is NOT neccesary as I said in the video. You can use something pointed to push down the pin and turn at the same time. The pin keeps popping up when you turn so you have to do it mutiple times and using the tool is a lot quicker to remove it. As far as I know the Kwikset pin kits are not the same as Schalge.
@@ModernDayReviews gotcha, well i like to have the right tools for the job.. but i ask because they sell the quikset pin kit with this cap remover, with good delivery time... but if i get the cap remover separate and a kwikset pin kit separately... its almost 2 week delivery time.
I have seen different sized 5-pin Schlage-like cylinders plus the tail piece will 100% have to be replaced or cut so at the point might as well just change the pins.
I've see many different size cylinders all with Schlage 5 pin keys so without testing or measuring, I don't know. However, you would proubally have to replace the tail so you'll have to remove the cylinder cap and put on the shorter tail and spring.

Thinking about getting this lock and would definitely want to rekey. Hate having so many keys.
If you got a 5 pin Schlage-like key already for all your other locks, it make sense to do it.
@@ModernDayReviews Mine all use the kwikset.
Can I just swap the cylinder from my current schlage lock door knob? I want to use with my level lock deadbolt

Is is possible to slip in a Schlage cylinder, as I already have a cylinder keyed to my other doors?

Think it’s possible to get a KW1 key way to fit in this lock?
