  • How Buhari was Overthrown by Babangida in Aug. 27, 1985 in what is considered Nigeria's Best and most brilliant Coup. Today, we will take it a step further and discuss how the palace coup was executed in a systematically brilliant manner. We will also contradict the claim that the coup was bloodless. In the hours leading up to H-hour, key officers gathered in the Armoured HQ Battalion Officers Mess. To foster bonding, drinks and food were freely offered.
The main hall of the Bonny Camp Visiting Officers guesthouse on Victoria Island in Lagos served as the Coordinating Center (or War Room) for coup actions on D-Day.
The 6th Guards battalion (backed by a Recce troop) was placed on standby at the Camp to provide security for the coup planners.

Nigerians voted Buhari into power because they believed he was a person of high probity, and therefore, incorruptible. The problem is that corruption is *NOT* Nigeria's problem. Of course, there's large-scale corruption, but corruption is not the reason Nigeria has become a failed State.
(If the problem was corruption, we would have solved it, because we have been talking about corruption since the 60s.)
Consider the fact that Nigeria has remained exactly the way British Colonialists left it: *a mere collection of tribes.* We don't even have a country! So, we haven't even started yet.

Corruption is a tangible deficit that can be easily identify, hence the overwhelming focus on it. You are correct that corruption, in as far as it relates to money and materials, is not our #1 problem.
Foundamentally, our elites have not acquit themselves with the prerequisite skills set that are fundamental to the administration of a mordern society.
You cannot just wake up one day and proceed to take over a government just because you have guns. A nation requires an assemblage of her best in all fields to succeed. Often times, everyone that should get their hands dirty in making contributions to the building of the country often stand aloof, separate from the government who they often considered as impostors at best or usurper at worst.
The emergence of democracy has exacerbated the problems because they have evolved to operate as Lords of the manor.
What to do? The elites need to reappraise their approach to the country if there is going to be any chance of improvement.

    • @michaeludeze8470
      @michaeludeze8470 Год назад

@@bola0909 I agree with you that "A nation requires an assemblage of her best in all fields to succeed."
So, yes, Nigeria's problem is lack of strategic thinking and deliberate planning for sustainable long-term growth. This cluelessnes of leadership was masked by the country's oil wealth. Less demand for oil has now exposed the gross incompetence of every Nigerian administration.
The group that inherited power from the British were *UTTERLY CLUELESS* about nation building. So, they disguised their ignorance with large-scale looting of the treasury. They looted national treasury without erecting any developmental structures. Unfortunately, the practice became the norm.
There can still be Advancement in the midst of massive corruption, if STRUCTURAL foundation is in place.
Even now, Nigeria is still drifting, as was the case when clueless individuals inherited power from the British. For instance, Nigeria is still practicing centralized economic system, which is the very opposite of the economic process that helped develop industrialized nations. Basically, Nigeria is practicing a retrogressive system that retards progress, nationalizes poverty, and equalizes all States to the same stagnation.

What I can say is that Buhari wasn't a soldier and he doesn't look like one 🧠 anyway he just used a soldier's uniform for power that is the reason he was replaced by Babangida
    😆👿

It is clear you don't know anything about soldiers or the Army. Buhari might have been a disaster in leadership, whether as military head of state or as a civilian president. but he was a first rate commander of troops. the two are mutually exclusive

This is what reading history on RUclips makes you..Buhari was a bonafide gallant regular combatant soldier and his Biafra records and antics support it.but you only get this not on RUclips but by reading books even those written by his enemies during the war

All these former presidents became billionaires by looting the coffers of Nigeria .
Obasanjo, Atiku,Babangida and a host of all others.
Question is how did they come about their wealth?

In Nigeria no body borders about question, talkless of the answer! Everyone is waiting for his opportunity to loot as much as he can... It's truly unfortunate. Thank you for watching. 💙❤️

Point of correction, abacha was not later informed at ibadan, abacha and babangida hatched the coup together, abacha was the coup leader, the exercise for the coup was performed at military exercise along abeokuta sokoto road and terminated at osogun, the town of ajayi crowther.l took part in that exercise and knew the date the coup will be executed, l did not sleep in the night of the coup waiting for the broadcast about the coup.
