He himself serves as an epitome of a self sufficient person who has made his tin leg, just an inconspicuous chapter of his life .His "peculiar" yet empathetic words, ignites hope in Derek and motivates him to quest for the inner strength in him. Although, Mr. Lamb leaves for heavenly abode, his words completely revolutionise Derek's attitude and plants self- confidence in him.
