  • I pulled off the three’peat at GTA Ridge Motorsports Park - Speed Summit last weekend with a new class RWD and Overall Record by more than FIVE seconds! The Top Gun Speedworks Rotrex powered Nismo #44 has now broken all six possible records. For those counting, that’s a clean sweep this year!
The event: there isn’t much to say that I haven’t said before. Global Time Attack puts on a great event, the fans were awesome, and everyone had a blast. Fast racecars, drift car ride-alongs, and a legit car show all at track that was as technical as it was fun to drive.
The car’s pace: We ended the weekend with a 1:48.9, my banker lap, which I learned was on a flat tire as I was taking off my safety gear. The car seemed a bit soft in the rear the 2nd half of the lap but I just figured it was due to track surface temps and greasy tires. Nope, it was completely flat! The following morning, I had a 45 on the dash through T12 but was thwarted when I came up on a 240Z doing 20mph through the waterfall. I later learned he lost a splitter but for the life of me still can’t figure out how/why he needed to ruin the record session for two cars with his 20mph in-lap pace.
The take-away: the car is as reliable as it is fast. To that affect, I didn’t use the first tool this weekend other than a tire gauge. All the prep work and all the hours developing have turned this thing into a missile that only needs oil changes. Props to every vendor, my tuner, engine builder, and skilled hand that has played a part in its development… it worked.
Moving Forward: we will continue our record setting tour of North America. With all the support, time, and energy invested by everyone, me and the car owe it to all of you to reset every record we can so deep it either takes EV tech to catch up or someone with a fast car and juevos the size of grapefruits!
I’m going to tag most of the people and sponsors, but a special shout-out goes to Turner Dobbins from SPL Parts. I have struggled with corner exit grip for most of this year and this weekend’s Swift Springs change and suspension tweaks finally netted some elusive grip that had a profound effect on lap times and car stability. That guy is legit as they come and I strongly advise any/all of you to reach out directly before spitballing your own solution.

What was the reasoning behind switching from the V1 Nismo rear bumper to base rear bumper?

I needed to cut the rear bumper and didn’t have it in my heart to cut up a V1. So, I sold it along with the V1 wing and grabbed a damaged rear bumper for a couple of bucks to cut.

Thanks bro. It’s a Tomei setup, front to back, and heavily modified for my racing needs. Didn’t expect me to say that did ya?! ;)

Do you have a cat? Does enthusiast class require cats?

@@AlanLuan18I do have a cat. We modified the titanium y-pipe by adding Ti V-bands and a modular system where I can run the cat, resonator, straight pipe, muffler, etc, all within the y-pipe.
