My dad and two brothers & I in the crowd shot at 8:21. We were/are ND fans so it was a disappointing day but fun to be there. We saw Bird play earlier that season vs. Evansville so we got to see the two big stars in 78-79, just not on the same floor.
I watched this so long ago. Still can't believe it's on YT. ND was so stacked w/ their starting lineup: 4 future NBA stars. & yet they had no chance against the Magic Man. TY for posting.
Notre Dame and Indiana State would've been a great final (I think Larry would've pulled out the win). But Magic and Kelser were too much for everybody.
It was a set play. Kelser told Jud Heathcote he could win the tip and they did . Once Brockivich got the ball he was told to dunk it to send a message. And if you notice after the first bucket Michigan St applies full court pressure
This was the high flying Michigan State Spartans The 1979 Championship game against Indiana State only featured one Magic to Kelser Ali Oop dunk This was the big game going into the final 4 Remember it like yesterday
Joe Montana tried to walk on the basketball team in '77 and Digger stoned him. If he had started instead of Branning he might have had a double national championship. By all accounts, Joe Cool was a better basketball player than football player.

I wish I had a better quality copy to upload - I may work on this one more at some point.

Market Square Arena was hosting a regional due to the fact they would be hosting the Final Four in 1980
That opening tipoff play was some Harlem Globetrotters stuff.

Thank you for putting this game online! Magic and the Spartans were brilliant in defeating a good Notre Dame team!
4 of Notre Dame's starters were 1st round picks!

😂 nobody is a better basketball player than football player. There are less skills, size and often athleticism involved.
