Jacques Lemaire actually won 1 cup with the Devils in '95, then he coached a few more seasons with the them until '98, he didn't coach again until '00 where he signed with the Wild and coached them until '09, then he coached the Devils for 2 more season before retiring as a head coach.
Jacques Lemaire actually only won one Cup with the Devils. Larry Robinson was the coach in 2000 and the late, great Pat Burns in 2003. But yeah, Jacques and Larry brought the trap to New Jersey after learning how to use it effectively when they played for the Habs in the 70's. *edit* whoops, missed the earlier comment where someone pointed that out already. Sorry.
On the 1-3-1, when the opposite team is advancing the puck into the neutral zone on the side where the defenseman has moved up to be a part of the "3".... does the far wing of the "3" immediately head back onto defense?
Vegas kind of modified the Left Wing Lock their first year. Instead of just being the left wing though it was more of an F1 F2 approach to it with the F1 slotting to the non puck side to let the defense shift to the puck side causing the carrier to usually cough it up and the F2 curling back to transition it back to offense faster than usual.
1-3-1 works until you wait too long haha and Ottawa's defense is good but inconsistent. One night they look like a cup contender, the other they look like a expansion team that gives away lots of pucks
Btw all the trap is or the lw lock is taking the strong side Winger after the red line and move him in line with the defensive spot so 1 Dman could apply pressure along the boards and the C or the other Dman takes his space

Lemaire only won one cup with the devils (95) ! ....then Larry Robinson did in 2000, then pat burns in 2003...the vest devils team by far was 2000, they could play the trap but had some real offensive power
Thanks for the comment! I'm not uploading content on this channel anymore, but I would LOVE it if you could subscribe to my current channel ruclips.net/user/post2postproductions where I am making Hockey content now! In fact, since I have stopped uploading on this channel I have created over 800 new videos on the new channel! See you there :)
I hate the 1 3 1 because I believe that if you don't apply pressure then the detfensive players won't make a mistake and if they are ahead well they'll just pass the puck around like Philly should've done to Tampa then they wouldn't of blown the whisle
Jack Ferry that's what we say but look at the past Stanley cup winners : Chicago, Boston, LA, Chicago, LA, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh. Not as much parity as we may think.
Dead puck days lol.... this was the most incorrect era for so called fans... today hockey is up down game but more players in the 90s scored goals/points than now.... goalie equipment was issue in mid 90s. Also physicality ia non existent cause fans like you will be offended like the scheifele hit.
I no longer upload content to this channel anymore, but you can find my new videos here: ruclips.net/user/post2postproductions
Great job Neil you got amazing hockey smarts and I love your North America Jersey

this is exactly what we are working on our team rn THANK YOU for this i was so frickin confused
Hey Neil thanks for telling us about the hockey merch on Lids! I’m from Dallas and I got a nice Minnesota North Stars hoodie on clearance!
Dont forget the Torts style, sacrifice the body blocking shots non stop and when you do finally get the puck dump and chase.
This was very helpful. Thanks man.
Great video man keep it up 👍
2003, the best year in the wild's history. Was an awesome run, still weird thinking lemaire was the coach for almost 10 year actually
You should do more videos like this I really liked it
6:20 start of 1-3-1 and 9:25 it finishes
On the 1-3-1, when the opposite team is advancing the puck into the neutral zone on the side where the defenseman has moved up to be a part of the "3".... does the far wing of the "3" immediately head back onto defense?
I should know this I’m a lightning fan 😂

MrSlimy that is why it is an opportunistic style of play it works or doesn't work
Everything is great in their own right
Btw all the trap is or the lw lock is taking the strong side Winger after the red line and move him in line with the defensive spot so 1 Dman could apply pressure along the boards and the C or the other Dman takes his space
20,000!!!!!!

I like this video, you should make more whiteboard videos!
Thanks I’m looking to start coaching
20,000 subs!!!!!!!!!!!
Well in fact Lemaire didn't win 3 cups he won 1 of them the other 2 were won by Pat Burns and Larry Robinson.
I guess what I meant to say was that his trap legacy stayed in NJ after he left.
Post2Post ok my bad
No no it was my bad in the video!
Who do you have tonight Winnipeg or Vegas
+Preston Vargas Winnipeg
That is a very nice hat! :D

Nashville uses the 1 3 1
Dump and chase that's what you do with the exes
ty buddy nice try, i'm color blind so all X are the same color to me maybe you can go with x and o the next time plz?
Make more videos like this
P2P, will there ever be another “create a team” contest?
Flyers 74/75 trapped to 2 cups. N.J Devils Marty Brodeur Won Cups with Same Boring Trap.
And where is Ottawa now? Same coach and still at the bottom
I hate the 1 3 1 because I believe that if you don't apply pressure then the detfensive players won't make a mistake and if they are ahead well they'll just pass the puck around like Philly should've done to Tampa then they wouldn't of blown the whisle
the great thing is individual skill can disrupt any of these stupid strategies
What, Neil, no poppy?
I have one
Post2Post Somehow, I knew you would. I get one down here south of the border every year. Then I usually have to explain it
Hehe! I keep mine on my jacket since it's too cold here now to leave the house without it :(
Post2Post I hate to tell you that it was 15 here today, and that’s cold to us. No jacket really needed
Ugh :(
The longer i watch the more squigely the rink gets
Neal do a video on the rangers streak
I don't know anyone named Neal
I happen to disagree with you I think your very smart extremely smart about Hockey.
Mark Santucci the trap sucks and only weak team us it
A trap is a guy who dresses up in feminine clothing and acts like a woman…
Also first
GamerDude146 good to know
But It's won cups ..
Guy Boucher should be embarrassed to run the trap. I loved when the flyers exposed him while he was on the lightning of it. It ruins the game.
Jack Ferry no he shouldn't, it's almost the only way a weak or average team can go deep in the playoffs.
Justin Sane hockey is one of the only sports where anyone has a chance on the playoffs
Jack Ferry that's what we say but look at the past Stanley cup winners : Chicago, Boston, LA, Chicago, LA, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh. Not as much parity as we may think.
Justin Sane well one of those times I'm pretty sure LA was an eight seed sooooo
Soooooooooooooooooo...
Neil do a video on the rangers crazy 5 game streak
... so you're an expert?
Far from it
I think Tappara is the best trap team in Finland. Maybe the best in Europe.
Finnish Championships in 2016,2017
