Thank you so much. This is the best play through I’ve seen yet!! I have owned this game for years and I finally found someone local to play face to face with next month. Love the painted pieces.
You dudes are hilarious😂 Great sense of humour. Here is the list of all screw ups I've noticed you made: at 12:32 the shadow player made an illegal move, you can't move troops through the montains, so there is no way he could've moved those 4 units from Morannon to minas morgul, mountains are impassable, he shouldve moved to gargaroth first and then from there he could get to minas morgul at 21:39 peregrin has a skill that if he is eliminated he must just separate from the fellowsip, not die completely. at 33:40 if any nation is attacked you must move the politics down, doesn't matter if anyone dies or not, any attack moves it down, it also activates the nation that was attacked if it was passive at 57:34 isengard elite unites are considered leaders also as long as saruman is alive, it's his hero skill on the card also for the free people player I noticed very often when he played event cards like horn of gondor he doesn't read to the shadow player how this card can get discarded, same for the tom bombadil card, horn of gondor can be discarded of boromir leaves the fellowship and to discard the tom bombadil card the shadow player could sacrifice some dies and cards.. but fp player didn't mention this.
@@kex9814 I also noticed when moving the fellowship the first time, he could have moved them the one space, plus the number amount shown on the guide, being gandolf. So 4 spaces total
Great video, you two are hilarious and entertaining! Love the War of the Ring content! A few rules issues but there's a TON of little rules nuances to keep track of in the best board game ever made.
1:17:44 - you played Shelob's Lair and then 20 seconds later, a spider runs across the game board - too perfect! 😂 Really, really great playthrough gents: you were naturally funny during play but both trying to win, so it came across as a genuine meet-up between two friends at the table. I appreciate you explaining details out loud occasionally, to keep those who don't know the rule-set up to speed.
Great playthrough and fantastic job on the editing. You had great explanations though a few mistakes, but I've never once played this without finding out we did at least one thing wrong. The asymmetry is the best aspect. Each side has its own goals and methods to accomplish them. When you do change sides you'll learn more of their strengths and vulnerabilities that aren't apparent from the opposite side of the table.
Thanks for the compliment on the paint, its tens of hours of my life that I probably wouldn't do again. The bases are from Etsy, but I got the Ares ones for the expansion minis, so hopefully I can show those off soon.
Hi! great painting, I am jealous :) Just a small thing I noted: at 1:47:55, you say Rohan can't retreat because Edoras is a city. In fact, only in a stronghold you can't retreat (but the stronghold provides you other major advantages)
Very cool to see this! I am currently planning to break out my 1980s SPI Lord of the Ring hybrid wargame/RPG fie the first time since the 80s, since I have found 1-2 more people who actually can play it. Very cool to see a modern take, with miniatures and, presumably, actual game design and usability :)
Great game! Cant wait to play this weekend. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you can MOVE an army not at war? I thought you just couldn't cross borders and muster if you weren't at war
13:44 - this is a 9 levels deep inside joke about the counterintuitive statistical description of getting a particular die roll result. That look Jake gives is him resisting the bait (like Frodo, resisting the pull of the ring) to wade back into a famously unresolvable math conversation. It's intricate and tricky to word properly and frequently leaves everyone sounding confused and insane. Which is funny, but not really the point of anything, which is why it's even funnier for Sam to be sincere when bringing it up. The subject of multiple WWM podcast episodes, eternally and pointlessly resisting resolution.
@@nicholasogburn7746 I wonder how they are funded, the production value is pretty high, maybe they all have full time gigs and this is their side project
"Do not trouble your heart overmuch with thought of the expansions tonight. Maybe the future games that we shall play are already laid before your eyes, though you do not see them."
It was their second and third time ever playing it lol I didn't feel ready to toss in Lords until at least a dozen plays of base, not to mention the other expansions! There's a toooon in that beautiful base box already

'Classic Sauron'
😆🤣
I showed up for the education, but I stayed for Sam's eye contact.
Really well done! So fun to watch can’t wait to get it on the table someday 😂
01:28:04 - "Orcs Multiplying Again" sounds like it's just a weather event in Middle Earth. Or like a headline on the Free People news channel

This is an amazing game to play! Great video.
This is what we have all been waiting for.

Gorgeous paint job omg. Love the plastic bases too - are those 3D printed or the ones from Ares?

This was a good time indeed, more WotR please!

@@emmanuelhuntzinger3049 I think we were meaning "retreat into siege". You are correct though, the troops in Edoras could have retreated away.

Great game!
Wah, subliminal BadBilbo!
This was very fun. Is there any way to interact with the Fellowship except during a Hunt?
Root! Root! Root! Wimmies unite!

This is correct, we may have played a little too cautiously.
Probably ok the way Jake did it.
Thanks
"Lord Sauron was a jeweller" sounds like an old folk song maybe ???
Why we beefin'???

Hype!
Criminal that this only has less than 100 views. What an undiscovered gem of a channel.

oof the deck is stacked against the fellowship
Tough start for Sam…
But sprinting for the ring dunk for the win!
No expansions?

Base is fantastic as is!
Turn 1 hunt is ok. Sooner to get Gandalf the white…
Strider is a better guide arguably
YO WTF I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH THAT GUY!
Go Scotts!
