I want to remember you like this, like that day almost 8 years ago now, in Cannes, after the screening of the first double episode of the third season of TWIN PEAKS, when there was one of the longest standing ovations. Thunderous applause for the sum of your entire work. All your masterpieces condensed into a narrative unicum that is that incredible gift that is the third season of your indelible cult. Thank you for everything you have done and given to the world of cinema and art. Thank you, above all, for having taught me so much. So much. With your films. With your photography. With your painting. With your art. With your books. Everything I have done since I started writing and, even before that with other means and media, I owe to you. To your influence. To your charisma. To your everything. Today, in every part of the social world (and not only the social one) there is no one who does not mourn your passing and I like to think that, in unison, all those who loved you, and they are millions, are gathering once again in a long, infinite, eternal applause. Goodbye Maestro.
First Jeffrey, then agent Cooper then, Dougie Jones. What a history and what a journey! It is like a mystical partnership with David. They both born to be there at that moment. One chance in a life time!
What a beautiful bunch of people. And they deserved every second of that standing ovation. Twin Peaks changed a lot of people's lives for the better, including my own.
This is a truly wonderful moment, to see all these people gathered to celebrate their love and appreciation for him. God bless you, David. The man is such a gift to society, because he tirelessly champions emotion, sincerity, and emotional authenticity over thinking, logic, and rationality. He knows how to bypass people's psychological defences, and get to the heart of those things we all try so hard to repress and suppress. For me, the most magical moment of the event is the sound of all those children calling out to him mingled in with the strains of the theme song.
Haha, both the world and the mind of David Lynch are very strange places, Danijels222! I'm well of aware of how fickle audiences can be at Cannes. Nonetheless, your comment comes across as needlessly judgmental and hypocritical. Here's what you implied: 1) Anybody who attends Cannes is automatically pretentious and stupid (likely in some cases, but a sweeping statement all the same); 2) Anybody who enjoys David Lynch's work in general is pretentious; 3) Anybody who enjoyed the new episodes of Twin Peaks - despite not really understanding them - is pretentious. I, for one, didn't attend the Cannes premier, although I loved the first two episodes and felt like giving them a standing ovation myself. Having said that, I also didn't have a clue what I'd just seen. So I guess that makes me one pretentious motherfucker, doesn't it!? P.S. You misspelled "Cannes" and "pretentious", which makes you sound like a dummy. ;)
@@michaelriley713 I thought you are a great person until i read your PS note. Just a miserable attempt to attack to someone who didn't even try to start an argument about "anything". Yeah, i think you are a pretentious person now. Thank you, grammar Nazi. Ah also, your attempt to "rationally" analyse Daniels simple comment made me laugh. What did you think while writing it? Do you think you are a Linguistic Philosopher or what? Your first comment just contradicts with your second one in all aspects and it is so clear that you have ZERO idea or understanding on what David Lynch expressed of his art.
Wow, that was a long ovation... almost as long as the broom-sweeping scene amirite, David? I'm just funnin' ya, really... Twin Peaks Season 3 was a gift - a truly remarkable, haunting and beautiful gift. Thank you Mr Lynch.
@@jramjee100 Excellent. Let me know how I can hire them. I'm planning on doing a wheelie on my BMX outside the house later today and could do with some lengthy sustained applause.
Hahaha, im glad the video clip shows the payoff of David smoking a cigarette at the end, its all he really wanted =P Congrats David! Twin Peaks the return is amazing!
I remember seeing TP:FWWM at the cinema in London went it came out. I was about 19 at the time and I fucking loved the movie. I saw the movie at least 5 times in the cinema only to hear it had been booed at Cannes at some point. WTF? People are fucking idiots when they can't see the genius in front of them. They don't know whether to clap or boo or what til they're ordered to do so. Lemmings!! Thank god for us true fans who kept the dream alive so this day would finally arrive!!
@Chris X I love the Return too. When I heard that the whole season was directed by Lynch it seemed too good to be true. Fortunately it was true. Was so excited when it finally arrived. Basically I think us fans have been spoiled recently and I'd be happy to see a fourth season. 😀
On this day he solidified his legacy as one of the greatest of all time
R.I.P to a legend
David and Kyle have tears in their eyes. David is vindicated. This is what it should have been when Fire Walk With Me came out.

He deserved it! Seriously people you have to watch the new season, its a masterpiece!
I can't stop thinking about the new Twin Peaks.
That gum we like has come back in style.
Me, early 2017 : "I hope The Return is as good as the original." Me, end of 2017: "Jesus Christ, it was somehow BETTER."

What a legend
damn it's very cool to be there at this time! It seems he wanted to spend time with everyone who called him. It looked important to him at the moment

Drink full...and descend...
How he smoking and look so healthy at that age?
Why they are all so happy
:D ?
Anybody who has come nearest to in most frathest of movie making is only one person.
David Lynch
Depuis la fin de la projection, David Lynch n a qu une seule envie: fumer sa cigarette dehors😊😳👀
This is the funniest shit I've ever seen.
The adulation is justified but isn't clapping for more than 30 seconds just make things uncomfortable?
David Lynch likes to draw out scenes until they become uncomfortable. :)
Lol you’d be surprised I’ve heard of 10+ minute standing ovations at Cannes
my thoughts exactly XD this video makes me feel uncomfortable
how the hell he had blue eyes later? He have green eyes here
So this is how Lynch burned the red carpet
End of cinema
no, it's a REBIRTH OF CINEMA, after hollywood tried to kill it completely
Watch Refn.
