Thanks for watching!
I love this marvelous era. Raspberry Pi, Linux, Arduino, ESP32, Open Source, INTERNET...
Awesome video,great......
Brilliant! I've recently bought on that needs assembly so looking forward to getting that done.
Awesome! This design could be the basis for multicarts on other systems. Amazing what they can get the Pico to do!
Fantastic. I greatly regret getting rid of my retro machines as I upgraded to new ones. My 800XL in which I'd expanded the memory to 256k using perfboard and instructions from a magazine was in MINT condition when I got rid of it after I got my Atari 1040STf. I do not even recall what I did with it.
Yeah, the „retro regret“. We have all been there or get there again from time to time.
great video ....love that !!
atari song!!
I have both the SDrive Max and Fujinet, which rely on the SIO port.
I have an SIO2SD and I like the A8Pico better. It's not the same as a drive emulator, but I am stunned by the simplicity.
@@RetroWK It is really amazing all these devices that people come up with for the Retro community.
That is a cool card! I need to check it out. I use that serial sio. 33 euros is a nice price too. Is there an SD card in it? Or just loaded on the 16MB of the pi pico (oh you just answered it 😂)
Interesting that there is no 5V to 3.3V conversion used to protect the Pi Pico. I'm trying to get my Pi1541 code running on a Pico. I should also get it to emulate cartridges on the 64 like this device does for the Atari. Effectively that would make a device like the UltimateII+ but way cheaper, running on a $2 RP2040 micro controller.
That would be very cool! Let me know when you need someone to test it!!!
Thanks for this, I have a SIDE2 but that doesn't play .car files the SIDE3 does but that's lots of £££££ :) Just ordered one on eBay for £27. I don't need it but I do want it. Oh if you haven't gotten one already I can recommend getting a USB power lead for your 800XL, saves any worries about the old PSU. Tcheuss!!
Thanks! Got one cable for every Atari I own. Even made a video how to build one.
@@RetroWK of course you do, how silly of me :)
I bought one of these from eBay. If I copy more than one file to it, it crashes and I have to flash it again... So beware! If anyone can help me understand what's going on, I'd be game.
Did you try to flash the firmware again? I describe that in the video.
@@RetroWK I did many times. No luck. Basically, it would try to copy one file and crash and bring me to the boot-sel... What worked was holding down fire on the joystick and booting... Then resetting the storage for the Atari files. That fixed it!
Well, copying more files to his keeps causing issues. Not sure if a particular type of file format is causing this, but my bets are on a bad flash memory chip. Getting a replacement sent, so we'll see.
