I love my Oru, but I don't want to make new friends. 😹

I haven't tried out the Inlet, Haven, or Beach Orus (yet). I'm curious as to why you have you legs stretched out in front of your when you paddle, as opposed to bent knees... Seriously, I'm in earnest. Thank you.

I change up how I paddle. Sometimes bent legs, sometimes straight, sometimes I even cross them! It just depends on what feels comfortable at the moment. The cockpit is nice and open, so it makes changing my posture possible.

That really is surprising how portable it is

I mean, it's still heavy, definitely on the luggable side of portable. The (non included) oru backpack helps.

@@JulesMorrison I would rather portage a regular kayak with a wheel kit. this probably has a solid super niche reason like maybe air travel, or I guess the apartment thing(which isnt just portability it storage)? but for normal portability I dont see it being much different than a light weight kayak. Pack rafts win out by alot for portability.

literally in the process of returning mine. Not nearly as stable as a kayak that cost over 1500 bucks should be. there is a 30 day return policy But they charge 10% for returns if the tags were removed. the set up SUCKED and the folding back up was worse. granted it was my first time using it so maybe it wasn't very flexible yet, but overall was disappointed and will probably end up getting a Brooklyn kayak instead. for reference, I GOT THE BIG BUNDLE WITH ALL THE ACCESSORIES FOR ALMOST 1700. SO NOT WORTH IT. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AT LEAST DONT TAKE OFF ANY TAGS WHEN YOU TRY IT THE FIRST TIME.

Almost all Kayak Review Channels repeatedly caution not to buy a kayak if it doesn’t have a skeg. I can’t believe that, for this price, this one doesn’t have a skeg.

The shape of the boat keeps it fairly true in the water. Definitely not what you'd experience with a standard skeg-less plastic or fiberglass kayak. Those things are all over the place.

That's simply not true that "all Kayak Review Channels" caution against buying kayak without a skeg. I subscribe to virtually every kayak review channel, and none has ever made a general statement like that, unless they were referring to sea kayaks or touring kayaks. The majority of kayaks do not have a skeg, nor do they need one. Skegs, or rudders, can be very helpful, almost essential, for sea kayaks and touring kayaks, usually those 14 ft. in length or longer, that are more than just recreational kayaks. But the average recreational kayak does not need a skeg, and most do not come with a skeg. It might be a nice added feature on some kayaks, but definitely not necessary for most paddlers or kayaks.
