You are taking about rational reasons but dont forget the charm MsMojo, the charm... 1991's version has so much of it, the story is just about a dad who loves desperately his daughter, and you laugh about it, scream about it but at the end you cant help yourself to be moved by the strength of this love and wish you had-have one like that
I love the 1991 version! Steve Martin and Martin Short!!! Love them! I haven’t seen the latest but I will. I love that they’ve made it with a diverse cast and storyline. When you think about it, this basic storyline can be retold with every culture. And that’s just great!
I love the 1991 version! I grew up with it but the 2022 version I love it slightly more because the entire cast of the new version is reminiscent of my family. Andy Garcia’s character reminds me of my dad actually and Gloria Estefan was incredible and she kind of reminds me of my mom.
I wish they would do a third instalment with the 1990’s cast (+ new) from the covid short...that was really special and I’d like to see more of that family together. That was brilliant x
It's very clear which version MsMojo prefers. This comparison is pretty lopsided. I personally prefer the 1991 version. While I like the updated take as a concept, I found it to be joyless, whereas the 1991 was big hearted.
I haven't watched the new one yet, but I doubt that anyone can beat Martin Short'S Fronk. Every version of this movie, be it the old one with Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor or the newer versions, all of them a mirrors of the time they were made. I loved the black/white one and when the Steve Martin one came out I was reluctant, but it was actually very entertaining. I'm curious on how I will like the 2022 FotB.
So far on what I saw on this video I'm thinking it won't hold the same warm quality. I have to admit I'm not impressed with the movie and television executives remaking the movies and shows that were already remade in the 1990's. Come on high paid executives come up with new stuff instead of just revamping already revamped shows and movies. It's ridiculous.

The 1991 version will always hold a special place in my heart. I was already a wife and Mommy to 3 kids by then. But my little sister was actually the bride that year. We weren't aware of the Spencer Tracy Elizabeth Taylor version. But watched it on TV then went to the video store and picked up 1991. My poor Dad lost my twin brother and myself to marriages in 1986 and my youngest sister in 1991 and our baby brother in 1994. Along with 2 older siblings years earlier and 2 that never got married. That was a expensive time for him. And that wasn't even counting the gaggle of grandchildren being born. I'm gonna watch 2022 tonight.

Well this is deffintely making me love the father of the bride 1991...more. And makes me wanna see the 2022 version less. Thanks for sharing all this. Majorly helpful.
Does everything have to be based “ oh it’s not culturally diverse “ ? Can’t we just enjoy the movies as they are? Aren’t movies supposed to be an escape with a little realism ? Everything has to be compared and “ not as good as the original because we are so much more enlightened”. This is why nobody watches the newer movies.
I love the 1991 version, it was only this year I discovered it was a remake and then I saw the 1950 version with Elizabeth Taylor and Spencer Tracy and it was just as wonderful. It’ll be interesting seeing the 2022 version with a cultural and serious twist, I’m assuming with no comedy streak either.
When I heard they were making a new version I was hoping it was a sequel to the one from 1991. I had figured it could be either of the girls born during Father of the Bride 2. Hard to believe they are old enough to get married but they are.
I watched some of the new version. I didn't watch the entire movie because I just couldn't get into it. I love the Steve Martin version... This one just didn't do it for me
Never has a MsMojo list pissed me off more. It’s terrible for each point to be so insulting to the people who are in the 1991 Father of the Bride, unfairly critical of the story in the movie itself, and you guys are disrespectful towards the era and the people who liked it especially because the way you’re bringing up culture & ethnicity makes it seem like a fun take on the romantic comedy told from the POV of the Father of the Bride starring Steve Martin and Martin Short was really racist, elitist, sexist and agist but saying a 22 year old is not old enough to get married even though they are of legal age to do anything they want yet there’s judgment in your comments, as the whole list, which is a terrible thing to do as are the things you have said about the 1991 Father of the Bride which is a hilarious, family friendly, heartwarming movie with a cast of two comedy legends putting in a don’t miss entry for best comedy duos ever and it’s a shame to not see Steve Martin & Martin Short in Father of the Bride. The only problem I have is that the people who made this awful list got to see it and they don’t deserve it to the comedic brilliance of Steve Mart and Martin Short in this movie or their other work together including Only Murders In The Building; they’re too good for disrespectful jerks who worked on this list.
@@Fidgetym42 I did. The comments not about the movie but the MsMojo list. In each number, they are saying that the 1991 version was about racist, elitist, sexist, agist, or not intelligent enough to realize that the father was right the whole time and a 22 year old is too young to get married but none of what MsMojo says in this list about the first movie is correct, factual or right about the story, characters, and times because it’s not truly enlightened to say our times know right from wrong and your times were wrong which I know because I am right. Father of the Bride, 1991, is the definitive version for this cute little story about a boy and a girl getting married told from the POV of the Father of the Bride which is a cute story that I recommend to anyone.
I say, Sofia Herrera. Is a much hotter bride then the original Anne Banks. that bride had to much make up on her face. Here we see a natural beauty. Adria Arjona is so Beautiful to look at 🥰😍
Love the diversity but I'll love the 90s versions till I die. There's still something enchanting about the American dream even though it's fiction. We don't always need real life in movies we deal with it every day
I Prefer The Disney Version Look I'm A Warner Bros fanboy through and through but I had no Idea this was a thing I'd expected it to be on Disney + like Josh Peck's Turner and Hooch Reboot
I watch father in the bride I cry because I was thanking about my sister and my brother in law wedding and I never to watch both wedding in one day ever again but I wach wedding one in the time
90 movies are already dated by twenty years, it’s enough time for significant cultural and technical changes to change characters but still keep the main plot Plus Hollywood is out of ideas
I like the Steve Martin version. The title of the movie should reflect the theme of the movie. The Remake wasn’t reflective of the film at all. It should have been called something else. Why can people just stop using the same film titles to try and grab fans of the original movies? I like both the version with Spencer Tracy and the remake with Steve Martin. I do like Andy Garcias movie but the title is misleading. I can’t relate to the characters. There is nothing wrong with making culturally diverse movies. Don’t be afraid to give them appropriate titles to go with the new them. Maybe “.. Wedding Planning “‘.
Exactly, and I guess that the current movie was an epic fail because they were extremely careful with their few jokes and Andy García is not a comedian
How did the 2022 version even get made? It's terribly cast and not funny or interesting at all. I didn't even know it existed while looking for a trailer of the 1991 version.
So sick & tired of the diversity angle. Diversity is not the most important thing. The original 1950 version was the best. "All the immigrants stuck at the Mexican border?" 100% hate the 2022 version. No one is stopping the illegal immigrants from leaving this country.
I don't think that I will like the 2022 version, I don't feel like hearing all of that spanish, I can't understand it. I want to watch a movie straight though without a language barrier. I get tired of pressing 1 for English as it is. Leave movies alone, all of these remakes are not always good
Which version of "Father of the Bride" do you prefer? Let us know in the comments!
The original movie is the best. Spencer Tracy was very funny and loving.

I say, Sofia Herrera. Is a much hotter bride then the original Anne Banks. that bride had to much make up on her face. Here we see a natural beauty. Adria Arjona is so Beautiful to look at 🥰😍
I got about half way through the 2022 and realized there was no rational reason to devote more time to something so miserable
How many remakes of this movie do they need to do? Honestly, can't Hollyweird come up with something new for a change?
90s movies were designed to be cozy, light, and WHITE.
Notice how all the Latinos came to a white country to be immersed with white people .... says a lot about white culture right there...
Love the diversity but I'll love the 90s versions till I die. There's still something enchanting about the American dream even though it's fiction. We don't always need real life in movies we deal with it every day
I need to see this 🎥 with my bridesmaids
…you’re shitting me. Not only did they do the unthinkable of making this but I didn’t even know they did until now.
I loved the 1991 Steve Martin Father Of The Bride but this new version looks like it's gonna be good 2.
The 1991 version is an under rated master place
Spender Tracy's was elite the second one was more funny the third was Unnecessary. Next there will be a third parent trap😒
I Prefer The Disney Version Look I'm A Warner Bros fanboy through and through but I had no Idea this was a thing I'd expected it to be on Disney + like Josh Peck's Turner and Hooch Reboot
I watch father in the bride I cry because I was thanking about my sister and my brother in law wedding and I never to watch both wedding in one day ever again but I wach wedding one in the time
There's a 2022 version?
I don't understand why they have to remake a classic.
My top is Steve Martin and Spencer Tracy
These two must've had their kids late. They're both in their mid-60s.
1991 all day long
I miss fronk the wedding planner
Why are 90s movies being remade?
🤦♂️
They're already modern enough
90 movies are already dated by twenty years, it’s enough time for significant cultural and technical changes to change characters but still keep the main plot
Plus Hollywood is out of ideas
@@patriciaorellana6469 Even in the '90s the movie was unrelatable.
1991. Remake 2022 is awful. 1991 is all about dad’s little girl, father love… 2022 terrible, is an offense to 1991 movie.
Um, the standard to compare the 220622 movie ain't either the Steve Martin or Spencer Tracy movies. How does this compare to Crazy Rich Asians?
I like the Steve Martin version. The title of the movie should reflect the theme of the movie. The Remake wasn’t reflective of the film at all. It should have been called something else. Why can people just stop using the same film titles to try and grab fans of the original movies? I like both the version with Spencer Tracy and the remake with Steve Martin. I do like Andy Garcias movie but the title is misleading. I can’t relate to the characters. There is nothing wrong with making culturally diverse movies. Don’t be afraid to give them appropriate titles to go with the new them. Maybe “.. Wedding Planning “‘.
Something fell flat in the middle of the remake. I enjoyed the beginning but then it started fall flat with the script.
Father of the bride 1991- wyte american upper class family.
Father of the bride 2022- wyte cuban upper class family.😑😑
1991- WHITE, beautiful, aspirational....... Commenter: obvious racist....it's spelled White....
I prefer the 1991 one, the new version is not funny as the classic from Steve Martin is😊
Exactly, and I guess that the current movie was an epic fail because they were extremely careful with their few jokes and Andy García is not a comedian
i thinking... i LOVING the 2022 version of "Father of the Bride"!😊👍
How did the 2022 version even get made? It's terribly cast and not funny or interesting at all. I didn't even know it existed while looking for a trailer of the 1991 version.
The original
So sick & tired of the diversity angle. Diversity is not the most important thing. The original 1950 version was the best. "All the immigrants stuck at the Mexican border?" 100% hate the 2022 version. No one is stopping the illegal immigrants from leaving this country.
Can't beat Steve Martins father of the bride. The 3rd remake to me doesn't look very good.
2022 is too woke for my liking. The daughter was so annoying and easily offended by everything.

I don't think that I will like the 2022 version, I don't feel like hearing all of that spanish, I can't understand it. I want to watch a movie straight though without a language barrier. I get tired of pressing 1 for English as it is. Leave movies alone, all of these remakes are not always good
