I love watching you gals and seeing what you’re working on. Carol, love the project bags that you finished they’re beautiful. Jennifer, love the cross stitch project that you finished for the wedding gift. It will be special. Love grandma’s quilt. What a keepsake. Most times I pick up the patterns that I think would be fun to work on and when I know that it’s one that I want to start stitching, I’ll put it together with the threads and put in the project bag.

Great finishes and fully finished pieces - that framing is fabulous. When I got back into stitching I went a bit hog wild and bought loads of patterns, which I will probably never get to. Anyway, I have about 30 things kitted up and possibly another 25 kits!! Thank you for sharing everything and happy stitching.

Hi ladies. Thank you for another fun update. Congrats on all those finishes and FFOs!
I have 450 charts and 12 kitted. When I first started buying charts I kitted them too. That soon got too dear, so I usually only buy charts now. 🙄🤣 ⚘️

How nice that you had a great time at your retreat. Your finishes are so beautiful. Normally I buy a pattern and later when I want to stitch it I will choose fabric from my stash. Only if the pattern is too big, I will try to buy the fabric in that moment too.

What neat frames on your pieces, Carol. They really compliment the stitching! In most cases, I am a pattern collector unless there is an unique fabric made specifically for a design which I will purchase. In most cases my fabrics come from stash. About 2 or 3 times during the year, I tend to kit up projects. Then I gather pattern, fabric and floss, etc. so each project is ready to stitch. I admit that many of these projects wait for a year or two to be stitched. A rough guess, because I really don't want to count them, is between 25-40 kitted projects. The majority of them are small-medium pieces with only a few large projects. I look forward to seeing you in May!

Thank you for sharing! Carol - your 3 framed FFOs are fantastic!! I do both😊 I collect charts, and I kit up projects. Generally, my kitted up projects are chart with flosses (I choose fabric from my fabric library when I’m ready to start). I have oodles of kits and oodles of charts - but that is part of my hobby😍

Carol, I love cherry sours too!!! I used to be able to buy them in a roll (either Regal Crown or Royal Crown was the brand name). I can only find them in specialty candy shops now☹️. As for kitting, I only kit when I'm ready to start a project, never before. Only if I happen to come upon the fabric piece that I want to use will I put the fabric and chart together, but otherwise, I never pre-kit. I never stitch on more than one project at a time, so floss and fabric are never tied up in another project hiding somewhere😊. Your retreat sounded fun! Loved seeing all the stitching you showed today😊

Great stitching. I usually will buy my floss at the time I buy the chart. Julie at Reflections(my LNS) encourages to have the colors prior to the fabric so that you know the floss will show up. So, when I am ready to kit it, I can take the floss and chart back to the store to select fabric. Although, even though I kit it, it doesn't mean that I start it right away LOL. I think i probably have about 10 fully kitted items.

Wonderful video! I used to just buy patterns, but the last 1-2 years, I try to get the fabric and floss when I buy the pattern. Once I have all the things to stitch, it gets a project bag. I am afraid to count, but I have 2 very large tubbies full. 😳 If I had to guess, 60 to 75 kits. Shhhhhhh. . . Since I’m mostly a monogamous stitcher, I find myself getting a little anxious as I want to stitch those kits!! Happy stitching!!❤

Cute gift items, nice project bags, cute finishes & Nice Framed pieces. Thread Hopper is like using counting pins, helps with Confetti stitches. I actually made my own tool :) I think I need a boo boo brush stick. Love the embroidery. Beautiful SB bag, it does Calm the Soul. I don't kit up right away, many in stages ... some with fabric & some have the just floss, and some have both - - just missing a few Overdyes or DMC skeins and into project bags once fully kitted. I have a tons of WIPS, and trying so hard not to do any New Starts until I complete more WIPS, which range from Smalls to BAPs. Currently Working on the 2024 PS Santa, then back to a SAL & tons of WIPS. Sort of Kitted up, I'm going with 35 and collecting is Fun!

Ladies the Eclipse was amazing and what beauty God has granted! I loved every second and did not miss any 100 percent totality! We all gathered on our back porch and enjoyed! I could kick myself twice for not signing up for your retreat! My Mom is 89 and struggles and I always just worry to death when I have to be gone for work so I stay home all the rest of the time sadly. I only have one Mon though so one day maybe I’ll get to attend! Love it all ladies and seeing photos and you sharing all the things I just love❤😊
Well I sometimes kit things as I purchase, most of the time though I don’t like or enjoy kitting so I kit right before I start it! I have many many things with a few stitches or just kitted! I am afraid to count maybe upwards of 19 ish , if I don’t count ornaments! That was a tough one ladies😂

Your question is hard to answer - I very rarely do a complete kit up of a new pattern - with fabric, thread and chart. I’d say that about three quarters of the charts I buy go into my “collection” and I will kit up a few of the new charts from my stash when I get home. Once in a great while I will buy the fabric when I buy the chart, see what threads I have when I get home and then get any missing threads on my next trip to my LNS. I recently unkitted the threads from a few charts because I don’t expect to stitch them any time soon..
I love the vintage quilt - what a family treasure! It’s beautiful. WChristine at Mountain Crafts Studio gave advice on caring for vintage quilts about a year ago - if I remember correctly, I think she said not to wash them.
Happy stitching to both of you!

Love your quilt in the background! I usually don't kit up patterns because I have a limited storage area. So, I just keep patterns nearby as a reminder to stitch faster so I can start a new project. Your story about sleeping on the French knots on your pillowcase reminded me of my Mom. When she would stretch out for her afternoon nap, she would do so on top of her chenille spread. She has some interesting dot patterns on her face and arms afterwards.

Hello ladies! I loved your video today. The vintage churn dash quilt behind you is gorgeous. My favorite block! Your retreats sounded like a great time. I used to kit everything up when I bought the pattern but do not any more. I started cross stitching in the early eighties. I have two hobbies relating to cross stitch. Collecting patterns is first, second hobby is stitching!! I enjoy just grabbing a pile of patterns and looking through them putting different ones on top. As always I love your videos!

I have things kitted up, that's for sure. Probably around 20. But I don't always kit at the same time I buy it. I'll make a list of things I want to kit up and then work on doing that. Of course, new things always grab my attention in the meantime! I hope one day I can make quilts like you. I am going to take a class on how to make a quilt. So maybe one day, I can have quilts to pass down as well as my stitching! I hope to come to the May gathering at the library. I live in Hendricks Co. but I know no one who stitches, so it would be nice to meet some like minded crafters!

I have been a cross stitcher for over 45 years. Obviously, I started with kits. And there was no internet! In the last couple of years I discovered flosstube. Once I saw all the new patterns, fabrics and floss, I began my stash. I started kitting up projects in the beginning. Then, I stopped kitting things up and just accumulated patterns. Once in a while, when I get a new pattern and will kit it up right away and start it. So I would say I am a bit of both. However, I have about 25 projects kitted up! I do not have a lot of WIPs. Only about 8 or 9. And I currently am only working on 4 or 5 of them. I am working really hard at not buying any more patterns, fabric or floss. Keeping it at a minimum this year. Take Care

Carol, your framed finishes are absolutely gorgeous and the frames you picked out are so perfect for those lovely pieces. When I buy patterns. I rarely kit them up at the time of purchase. Kitting things up is my least favorite thing to do, so recently I forced myself to kit up several projects and I managed to kit up seventeen of them (mostly smalls), which is amazing for me as I rarely have more than two or three kitted up at any given time. But now I have lots to choose from. Thank you so much for another wonderful video, ladies. Happy Spring and Happy Stitching!

    Nice to see you ladies this morning. I don't usually kit projects until when I am about ready to start them. I set my goal for the month ahead, then order all the supplies I don't have for those projects, usually 2-4 depending on the size. My LNS is 6 hrs away, so I usually have to buy online. I have just a few go-to linens I like, so I usually just order one of those. Kitting up is not my favorite part...it's time consuming and takes away for stitching:}

I used to always buy the fabric when I bought the pattern. Now I don’t do that as much since I have grown my fabric stash! As a consequence I have a lot of kitted projects (chart & fabric). I pull the threads when I start them (I also have a lot of threads!). I know I have over 100 kitted up, probably more like 150! Many have been given to me and I have a lot of Mill Hill ornament kits for my grandkids (13 of them)! I give them an ornament every year! Over the last couple of years I have tried to only start things I have in my “kitted basket” which is 3 totes full! Embarrassing!!!

I always have 5 all kitted up at one time and when I get done with one I'll go through the patterns and get one another one kitted up. If I don't do this way my ADHD will go into hyper drive, and trust me its not a pretty picture..😂😂 love to you both.

I try to only kit a project when I am committed to starting it soon. Then I gather fabric, floss and commit to a project bag. I usually acquire more patterns than I stitch (massive understatement there). However, I have a cabinet where lurk a few projects I kit up in the 1990s that I kit up and still haven't started...those are so old that they're in the plastic bags the patterns came in, not a project bag.

There is a sushi place in the phx valley that you pay $29. Per person and it’s all you can eat. Not a bargain for me and my hubby but sounds like it would have been for you! Rarely do I buy fabric and floss w a pattern unless I know I don’t have what I need in my stash. Which tells you my stash is deep. I do kit up after the patterns arrive ( and then sometimes have to order something). I think I have about 30 projects kitted up either fully or w floss only. It may be more. But when I’m pulling floss it’s just easier to do it then for multiple projects.

I have patterns and kits. I kit up what I think I will start right away…and usually don’t 🤷‍♀️. I am not going to count let’s just say A LOT. 2 bins. 🥺

Loved your story about the quilt. I sadly know very little about my family. I am not a "kiter". I go through times where I buy patterns then I'll start buying fabric. I usually buy the floss, if it's not in my stash, when I'm ready to start the project.

I usually get the pattern, and when I get ready to stitch, combine it with fabric and floss.

Thanks for sharing! Sometimes I kit up - mostly I kit up from my stash - I do have a basket ‘ready to go’ 🎉

Great progress on your Lizzie Kate stitches! I'm behind this month, joined too many SALs.😆 Your retreat sounds like a good time. I still have no idea who the man is in the white pants but congrats on finishing all that white!🎉

Another great flosstube! I’m glad the retreat went well. Maybe one day I’ll be able to attend the spring retreat. I am looking forward to seeing you in August. My x-stitch app tells me I have 147 items kitted up with pattern, fabric and floss. That’s after I de-kitted some based on learning from Helen D that not kitting can keep the (fancy) floss free/easier to find. I will also say if there are several patterns in a booklet that I’m interested in stitching, I have a separate entry for each one.

I don't usually kit a project until I am ready to stitch. Because I have a couple of monthly projects, I currently have 2 projects kitted and 4 wips.
    Thanks ladies!!!

Love the project bags. I have 4 projects with fabric kitted up and 2 of them also have the thread. I don't always kit after I buy a pattern. It depends on how quickly I want to get to it.

Good morning. The historic quilt is fabulous. I think I’m still on my retreat high. Is it too early to say I can’t wait for next year? As busy as you both are, you got a lot done. In an effort to get organized this year I’ve been making lists of WIPs, patterns and kits. Some kits have floss or fabric, but also some are fully kitted. In an effort to be at the top of the list, I’m going to count my mill hill kits as well. 43. Plus 21 mill hill = 64. and I know there are a few more not yet on my lists. Too many??

So glad you had such a good time at retreat and we can't wait for next year too! And not too many kits at all...there are several stitchers with a lot more ;)

The Thread Hopper is used for counting, you place one pin at the starting place, use the second pin to count 10 stitches , then remove the first pin to count 10 more stitches. Enjoy 😊😊 Great video today.

Rarely do I kit up when I purchase a pattern. I might have 6 'kits'.

What a great quilt story and a fun family visit❤
Loved the smalls exchanges, especially that lovely needlebook! Who doesn't love a bird or two!?! Chickadees are so adorable❤
I've cross stitched most of my life 50+ years. I lived in Spartanburg SC, a mill town where I could pick up yardage of Aida for a few dollars. I still try to buy yardage that is discounted to keep my craft $ budget friendly.
During the Pandemic I kitted well over 200 charts, I was surprised to learn. I'd better git to stitching!

Curios to know if you are following a pattern or video to make your project bags and if so what it is. Your project bags are beautiful. Love all the fabrics
