Man, I'm so glad for these! GaijinHunter (love the guy!) did his guides for the weapons, and while they're all fantastic, they lack a "Coming from MHW" mindset. These help a lot more for a relative MH newbie like me because it explains "unlike in MHW", whereas GH's sometimes assumes you're more familiar with something like Generations than World.
I mean, that shit's easy, but picking up something like the Charge Blade and trying to understand how to use that to the fullest as a newcomer to MH is the opposite of having a natural and user-friendly experience. Unless you're staring at the top right of the screen, you're probably not going to know how to amp your shield, your sword, cancel your SAED into a regular AED, etc, etc, etc.
I picked this game up on sale, I am absolutely loving the game. I never played the old games (started in tri ultimate) so seeing all the old monsters and areas is a real treat. Great guide!
I just got the Switch and the first game I got is MHGU. I'm sad to see you didn't cover other weapons. But I understand if you got busy & life happens. I'll keep my fingers crossed you'll hopefully pick the series up again one day 😊

My brother. Just wana say thank u so much for the in depth long sword tutorial. This is my first time I play This game since I came long ago from Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd. Is there anyway I can get an auto target for Monsters??? Another request please, can u add time stamp for each of the weapon styles in the description for future weapons showcase??? It will be faster for a noob player, such as myself to go directly to the style which I decided to go through. Many thx again and great work. Waiting for your other weapons tutorials.
joe gonzalez many thx bro for the fast reply. However sadly, I dont have have MHW. I'll go look it up where u pointed out for the Generation Ultimate after my kids go to sleep. :-)
Arekkz appreciate the hard work you put into these guides for all monster hunter games, especially taking the time to go back to older monster hunter games. I am coming from a World's and playing this game is way too over my head. These guides definitely help a LOT.
In MHG I stay in Guild Style all the time because I find it hard to adapt to new combos. But in MHGU I instantly picked Valor for my LS (my Main Weapon since MHFU) and I need to say this style is by far the most enjoyable to play and to learn. It is true at the beginning it is quite hard to learn all these moves but man this style is just gorgous to look at and makes so much fun if you hit the spirit combo.
So thankful you've started these tutorials! I'm a gunlance user who got into Monster Hunter thanks to MHW and have ordered Generations 4 ultimate, looking forward to more tutorials!
Recognized Flash004 Fuck I'm the same, World made so many quality of life improvements it makes this feel kinda clunky. If it wasn't for the sheer amount of content in Gen Ult (worlds biggest drawback) I'd give it a miss lol
im sad that this series didnt continue ;(( as a multimedia artist i live for the editing, its so goood,, was looking forward to the other tutorials but alas ;(
I would like to make a case for Alchemy style, I pair it with the typical Glav, armor skills, heavy polish, quick sharp and so on, and those activate on the alchemy whetstone, giving you boosted art gauge gain and the locked in sharpness (and we all know how brittle a LS can be...) this allows for striker level art gain and use, pairing well with the extra powerful SP modes and helpful items for you and teammates, sacrificing very little in the way of attacks.
Striker is also super strong on LS because it has three amazing Hunter Arts. Played it most of Generations using the Silverwind Set and will recommend every time!
I picked up generations again yesterday. still 1 of my favorite MH games of all time. Great to rewatch this again. When playing i was like why wont you wiredash haha.
Again great video! Love how you explain how to get the meters up and leveled up. Keep em coming, like with most games like this, or an MMO I am an Altiholic and with this I am a Weaponholic! So all the videos are great.
if valor style makes a simple weapon like the LS as convoluted and technical as the charge blade then I don't even want to know what is does to the charge blade, i rather go study quantum mechanics.
9:30 "Valor is a new style in world" Sadly, we don't have styles yet in world. Here's to hoping we get Monster hunter world ultimate generations and end up with world + GU mechanics!
Why not both? Imagine having shit like the GS tackle and true charge but also with the Adept style rush on dodge. That shit would be dope af, especially in a detailed environment like World's (though that might cause a lot of pathing issues with the Adept charges). Like... don't get me wrong, I love MHW as much as the next guy, but the combat system -- once you get over the initial bump -- can be quite shallow. There's a lot that you /can/ do, but a lot of it's also situational. Granted, Styles and Arts can be the same, but it's still more added depth in a game that can be a little shallow at times (as far as combos go).
Worlds already easy and the game wasn't built around hunting styles or arts. I'd love to see styles reintroduced in later titles, but World does not need to be easier than it is.
I don't know the armor skill names but one gives buffs for being at 75% health and gives a 50 resistance to all elements at the cost of Dragon blight and a skill that gives buffs for having red on your health bar, I plan to use these with valor
I remember watching this series years ago when I was trying to learn CB. Your tutorials (along with Gaijin's) have been a big help, bruh. And damn, it's been years, huh? Edit: also, can I just say that LS here is so freakin stylish combo-wise compared to World? 😁

Since I just watched your GS vid, I'll cut my comment short. I now see the basics of how the style mash together with all the weapons and I can see why speedrunners use longsword in valor style. the Iceborn DLC expansion I feel had got its LS moves from this game and I see my self using it as the " I'm using the Lai slash crit draw build". I mean I feels like I'm using my Velkana Frostcraft. Personally, I see my art being the constant spirit combo buff. The only two games of monster hunter I played substantially are Freedom Unite and World Iceborn, so this game feels like a midpoint between the two.
Hey great tutorial. Your tutorials are my go to on monster hunter stuff. I first started on mhw but recently have gotten into mhgu as well (mainly for when i am on the go) but sadly i noticed you only have tutorials for LS and GS but nothing else. As a CB main (DB side main) i would love to see more tutorials for the other weapons (prowler too would be awesome) so far ive sort of figured out the changes on CB from mhw to mhgu but only for guild style. I saw your CB valor gameplay and it looked awesome but i wish you had a more in depth on it so i could understand whats going on with it
I used to be a long sword user until MHW. Then I went Kinsect Staff, simply because it was too awesome to fly in the air. Look's like it's time to say hello to an old friend again. Who know's, I may even go Valor.
Styles really affect gameplay more than people who never played Gen think. Stick to guild if thats comfortable for u. But i recommend try mastering a weapon in a style you might like. Aerial GS, Valor CB, Adept SnS, etc.
I never played any monster hunter game before so when I got this game I wasn’t sure what to use for long sword so I’ve just been using aerial cause it seemed like the easiest but now that I understand the arts and styles more I might have to choose valor or adept now cause they seem way better for dodging and way stronger
