  • Kroya Station (KYA) is a type B large class train station located in Bajing, Kroya, Cilacap.
The station, which is located at an altitude of +11 meters, is included in the Operational Area V of Purwokerto and is the easternmost station in Cilacap Regency.
The station, which is located on the railway line across the south of Java Island, is a meeting place between the train lines from the Bandung-Tasikmalaya direction and from the Cirebon-Purwokerto direction.
This makes this station has the busiest level of train traffic in Daop V as well as the busiest in Cilacap Regency, and to accommodate it, the emplacement of this station is made about 900 m long.
The thing that distinguishes Kroya Station from other stations in Daop V is the playing of the song "Di Tepinya Sungai Serayu" in the format of an instrumental or keroncong song every time a train arrives, as well as crossing and following trains.
Currently, the cross-line at this station heading towards Cirebon and Kutoarjo is already a double track.
With the double route, the Jakarta-Kroya route via Purwokerto-Cirebon and vice versa can only be reached in 5.5-6 hours. Gradually the double track will be connected to Surabaya via Kertosono-Mojokerto.
As a large station, almost all passenger train trips to Jakarta, Bandung, and Cilacap and vice versa stop at this station.
Kroya Station is estimated to have existed since the construction of the Cilacap-Kroya-Kutoarjo-Yogyakarta railway line on July 20, 1887. This construction also includes a branch line to Purworejo City which opened on the same date.
Initially this station only consisted of a main building and a platform which had a canopy that was almost similar to Manggarai Station. The old canopy, which is similar to Manggarai Station, had appeared in the film The Last Train.
There is a locomotive depot to the north of the station complex. In addition to servicing stopover locomotives, this depot was once used to store locomotives and the Serayu train series.
However, since the Serayu train journey was extended to Purwokerto Station, the allocation of the train series was automatically transferred to the Purwokerto Train Depot.
There is also a train repair shop located west of the station complex and is the largest railway repair shop in Daop V.
Its function is similar to the yasa hall, namely as a place for train repairs. Apart from being a place for repairs, this workshop was used as a "cage" for Daop V's auxiliary carriage facilities.
After the double track in both segments is operated, the shape of Kroya Station now looks different from before.
The overcapping roof covering lines 1-3 of these stations has been replaced with a new and larger one; shade paths 1-6.
The station platform has also been extended and elevated so that it can accommodate a long train series and make it easier for passengers to get on and off the station platform.
The old electrical signaling system typical of the Daop V produced by Westinghouse Rail Systems which has been installed since 1999 has been replaced with the latest one produced by PT Len Industri.
The Serayu Train is an economy class passenger train that serves the Purwokerto-Pasar Senen route via Kroya-Kiaracondong PP and comes from the name of one of the major rivers in Central Java, Kali Serayu.
