    ABOUT THIS VIDEO
Trevor had several shoulder dislocations playing football. Physical therapy didn't help. He was told he had labral tears that needed to be surgically repaired.
The surgery for his shoulder labral tear didn't help. Trevor was left thinking his shoulder was just always going to hurt, and he would never be able to do anything athletic with his shoulder again.
Over time, Trevor gradually learned how to use and retrain his shoulder and now helps others retrain their bodies.

I have labral in both shoulders (left much worse). I switched to all home workouts, only do eccentric pull ups (lowering yourself down against gravity), and lots of planks. The tear happened in 2016, was severely depressed and drank alcohol everyday which led to weight gain. My shoulder also clicked everytime I’d move my arm from the front to elbow in the side. In 2019, I decided to workout again at home aswell as follow rehab exercises. My shoulders are around 80% and I have abs now. The clicking only happens when I’m lying in bed and I reach my arm out front then bring my elbow in. 2020 Day to day the sound is virtually non existent.
You can still workout but change up the shoulder’y exercises with variations you can do without any pain. You must also change to a keto/carnivore diet or cut out all refined sugars. You won’t re attach the labrum but you can make the surrounding tissues 120%. In the future I’m gonna get PRP injections. Also, I could have got the surgery but the chance of something going wrong given it’s both arms is a risk I’m not willing to take

Been doing Physical therapy for about 9 months with basically zero improvement. I get a lot of scapular pain with the therapy motions that doctors say is not from the labrum, yet they offer no clear explanation as to where that pain comes from. extremely frustrating. More MRIs next week of the cervical spine and another arthrogram of the labrum to assess if there has been further damage. Such a hard decision to make: surgery or not?

I had a labrum tear surgery 10 years ago and lately I was having a little bit of shoulder soreness and was doing stretches. During a doorway stretch I heard this pop sound coming from either my scapula or back of my shoulder and now I’ve lost a bunch of range of motion and have muscle atrophy. I’m worried I re-tore my labrum and ruined my anchor suture but honestly it could just be an entrapped nerve like the subscapular nerve. The massage PT dude I’m working with thinks it might be TOS but I don’t know if that explains my shoulder instability. but I have no idea it’s so frustrating. The doctor still hasn’t MRId it and I’m living abroad and I’m so stressed I don’t want surgery again.

I've been seeing this guy for about 3 months and the pain hasn't subsided much at all and the shoulder is still higher than the other. The pain can be recreated when forcing my shoulder down. It took one surg and daily physical therapy pushing myself until I couldn't go anymore I was successful but feel that my injury was less than most people it took me over a year to make the decision to get it but once I saw Drew Brees had 12 anchors and a complete detachment I felt that my partial Detachment was a walk in the park

I'm personally not touching deadlifts for a few years and only focusing on barbell rows for back strength with very strict form.

@@yunghuztler1000 Thats actually a question i was going to ask my shoulder doctor tomorrow (he is specialized in baseball players). Are barbell rows, or dumbell rows preferred? I was experimenting a bit again with pendlay rows. So picking the barbell up from the floor each rep with considerable weight, and it was feeling fine?

@@yunghuztler1000 Oh how about bench btw? I found dumbell bench fine, but as soon as i did barbell bench, INSTANT uncomfy feeling. I did it for 3 workouts and my shoulder hurts again

    • @yunghuztler1000
      @yunghuztler1000 3 года назад

@@richburmond6761 I do floor pressing with dumbbells for now, to cut the range of motion and only focus on the upper half where the shoulders dont get stretched.
As for barbell rows now issues since im going for more reps lower weight instead of heavy weight and low reps.
I focus A TON on my rotator cuff with high rep facepulls and external rotation on cables to get alot of blood circulating in the area. You have to be very strict with the movement, if you're not feeling it on the back rotator cuff, you're doing it wrong.
I make sure to foam roll and massage my lat, chest, neck after every upper body day. Look up trigger points and feel around your chest and neck for tender areas that might be tight and pulling your shoulder forward. Helped me emmensly.

Take a break. Don't get too uptight about it. If so, then relax for a while. Find some good rehab protocol. Go very slow. Pushing too hard may be making things worse for you. Bone and cartilage take the longest to heal of all body structures. #1 is stay positive and don't give up; just go slow and target simple humble gains, step-by-step.

The problem is once you damage your labrum, and you let it go for a while, you degrade down the available cartilage and tissue. Even if you do repair it, you dont have the same amount of tissue and flexibility compared to your younger days.

It's amazing how useless physically you become when one shoulder is out. I'm having difficulty even lifting a small pitcher of water. I enjoy home improvement projects and this has really taken me out. I had a SLAP repair done 15 years ago and I think I pushed it too much with pullups a few months ago. Dr didn't really have much he could offer other than to say to just be careful with the shoulder for the rest of my life.
