I remember his send off. Caravan of what seemed like hundreds of cars with red rags on there antennas flying in the wind. Church packed inside and out. His face was full of kisses with that dark purple or black lipstick...they was playing schoolboy crush by AWB when we was standing in a line trying to get in. That was one of the songs I remember being played but it was more 😞 RIP BARTENDER

Wow this history is crazy growing up at one time living in the "Walls" on Euclid Ave, up the alley from the Redhouse. Got mad memories of walking pass the Redhouse going either to the Drive-thru dairy, liquor store or to "Baby Boys" pool hall, pizza shop, or barber shop. The Walls was like the projects, low income, hard working households, and single parent households, food stamps, gov't cheese, and S&H/ or Blue chip stamps!. Everybody would come through, Big Tookie on swole, even Cats from the L.A. Lockers. There would be shoot outs, police raids, sherm sold everywhere, just all types of activity in that spot. I used to watch the big dudes lift weights in the back yard of the Redhouse, hell I was in the fourth grade going to Lindbergh moving from one side of Compton leaving Roosevelt. DAMN KEV MAC, you be on it!! This here is like a time machine. That's why I phucc's with KEV MAC the research is like Sherm in the 70's. the💣!!

Good shit Kev. Love the info on the famous red house or Crip house but this was good. Sad to hear Bartender was trying to get out of the gang life and was still snuffed out.

We moved to Compton when I was 4 in 1977. My mother taught at Compton High. Moved to the valley a couple years later but it's interesting to hear what was going on around me when I was on the playground an unaware.

How true is it that OG Salty took out Bartender and in retaliation LB took salty out shortly after.

This was nice!!! Me and my friend use to go over to Joey's house and smoke weed.. Malcolm his brother would walk down our street to go and come back in the day. The first time, I ever spoke with Malcolm Joey's brother, was in Intra drugs parking lot the year he passed...Strange we never spoke until that one time and he talked a whole lot..lol.

The rumor was the set Bartender Piru started in honor of him but I’ve never ran across anyone that knows of this. It’s possible it never got off the ground or yet another internet myth

I'm thinking if that was true , Bartender saved alot of lives and trouble in Compton for not telling the Homies. Because they probably would have went on one for that SGT , just like COLOR s and PACMAN.

@damu When did East Side Piru come into existence? I have an older homie from South Carolina that claimed "East Piru" and that he had family in Compton. Said he would go every summer. His name slips me, and I haven't seen him since 2001 when I got locked up, but his nickname was "Woods" or "Wood".
It's a long shot, but you never know if his story is true or if someone knew him. Would be in his late 50s as I'm in my 40s
