  • To learn to find 1’s complement and 2’s complement of binary number and how to represent signed binary numbers explained in detail in this video. The initial section of the video show methods to represent binary numbers. The next section shows signed binary number representation. How to represent signed binary number using three different method is presented in this section. The three methos are 1's complement of binary number, 2's complement of binary number and signed magnitude of binary number method. All these three methods of representing singed binary number is explain one by one in this video up next. The first methos is 1's complement of binary number methos, here I have explained how to find 1's complement of binary number. Here I have represented 1s complement of negative number. this section also represents methos to write 1's complement of binary number. In this section I have also explained how to find the range of sing magnitude of binary numbers. There is one problem with 1’s complement of binary number representation and that problem is to deal with zero representation in 1’s complement of binary number. In table also I have shown dual zero in 1’s complement of binary number. The next important section in this video is 2’s complement of binary number. So here I am explaining how to find 2’s complement of binary number in detail. Here I have explained three different methods to find 2’s complement of binary numbers. the 2'complement of binary number is improved version of 1'complement of binary number. while explaining 2'complement of binary number i have shared very important and very simple method to find it. Then after I have explained how to find range of sing magnitude of binary numbers. Here I have represented 2s complement of negative number. with this i have also mentioned methos to write 2'complement of binary number. Here i have also provided two examples of 2'complement of binary number. Once this section is over the final section of the video is signed magnitude method to represent signed binary number. So finally in this video I have explained 1s and 2s complement representation of binary numbers. Finally at the end of the video I have given few example to find 1’s and 2’s complement.

    Thank you, you explain the WHY and that is so fundamental to having genuine understanding of a subject. I watched so many videos, very popular ones too, and you're the only one that really explained the logic reasoning behind this instead of just showing us the equation.
    For other people watching this, I ran into this mistake, at 9:23 of the video he shows Method 3. I thought he was adding the entire 3 layer equation, I had to watch that part more times than I care to admit to realize hes only adding 1 to ONLY the 1's complement row, not both rows. So it's 01101 + 1. I kept thinking it was 10010 + 01101 + 1 which threw me for a loop because I kept getting a different answer than what was shown. Hoping to save anyone that maybe makes that same mistake the headache.
