My Shure GLDX16 is an awesome wireless system. Only get about 40 feet though. It’s more than I need most times except when checking my own sound from the audience area.
I just bought a SLXD1 and SLXD4 for guitar because of this video. After getting the gain level to match my cable, I can't believe the tone. It's like my cable is a country road of tone and the SLXD is a SUPER HIGHWAY of tone. Amazing!
Very clear, informative content. Thanks Pete. My objective is a 5 minute load-in and set-up! I'm working with a Shure BLX wireless mic for solo acoustic singer / songwriter busking and small venue performances. It's rock-solid, simple to use, and sounds great. The reciver is so small I mounted it under my pedalboard which feeds a BOSE S1 Pro Battery powered mini line array speaker. Both the Shure and BOSE products are brilliant for my thing.. The main thing the Shure does is simplify load-in, set-up, tear-down and load-out. This is especially critical when I busk - for obvious reasons. Carrying and setting up mics and mike stands and running the cable and all that is a PITA, and if some mall-cop tells me to move-along, I've gotta go through the hassle all over again. If I'm using a headworn mic set-up, I can just throw my guitar in it's gig bag, grab my amp and pedal-board and walk away. Main trade of is my visual appearance - no getting around it: headsets don't look very LA Voodoo lol, and the limit "mic technique" to "make sure the mic is 1/2" from your mouth, and keep it there" Looking to go totally wireless for ninja gigging, where I walk up to popular local pubs when it's slow and ask if it's OK if set-up and play. I tell them they can kick me out if I suck. (Don't try this if you suck folks - you'll ruin it for me) Set-up is reduced to setting down my am and pedalboard, putting guitar and headset on PLAYING. No flithy cables to untangle and connect / disconnect / coil and tangle up again. Or trip over =)
Still have my Made in the USA T4G 208.200 MHz From 1999 2 channels never had an issue with latency or medium length venues Never experienced interference Yet With in ears no problem at distance but just walk about and from mains to your ear and you will be in lost land Speed of sound not MHz or GHz
I kept looking for a GLXD 16 used on reverb awhile back & I had no luck every time I looked. There was also a time where they weren't even available new! A testament to these wireless systems, no doubt!
I’ve been using the glx system for years. I do love the battery life and features but I have had a lot of dropouts in the past and the distance is not great
Shure wireless systems rock, the newer Axient Digital range is damn impressive (I still can't get over how tiny their bodypack transmitters and batteries are). Pete, stupid question: in your live rig, as I gather you're using several discrete wireless channels, how do you switch from one to the other ? Are you using the Radial input switcher (that is a mainstay of many live rigs), or are you using something else ?
Very informative video guys thanks., seems like it's becoming an essential part of a rig Pete. If it enhances your performance it's a must right? 👍🥃Respect to you fellas.
does a single box send your guitar and pick up your in ear mix or is there a seperate pack for each? I'm curious if I could eliminate my guitar cable and my headphone wire and play thru my processor with no amp at all.
Thank you brother. But if we purchase another headsets later , how to find if the headset will match with the transmitter ,and receiver,if it is of a different make ,brand and model ( not of the brand and model purchased in the beginning ,with a set originally ) ?
Thank you, Pete (and Paul)! I learned so much through this video and had no idea about the availability of frequencies. Granted, as of now I’m only playing local solo acoustic shows at small to mid-size venues (in the Tampa, FL area). But I notice a slight cut-out every now and then using my Boss WL-20L. I think I need to switch to that Shure analog system for dual channel (I sometimes whip out the electric for some songs). Thank you again!
Japan Stage,,,,,,, Totally Awesome!!!! Is there video on your site PETE that shows you Jamming?? TY so much for the look into the Shure Wireless and to Sweetwater 4 letting U show Us products and performance, A very great source of info, TY Pete 🎙️👏🎸🎸🎤
Very interesting, and I agree on Shure wireless. I have used them for years - just a local gigger! - and always found them reliable, great sounding, with no cutouts, as you said. But what happened to the GLX-D pedalboard unit? That's what I have mostly used, love it, includes a great tuner, but apparently it's now discontinued! Was just recommending it to a fellow band member over his now-dead Line 6 unit - and he tells me the GLX-D is discontinued! Not happy about this!
Anyone using a Shure GLXD14R+ with 2 body packs? I have a line6 G90 but I've been thinking about upgrading. What keeps with me that unit though is the ability to hit channel select and switch between 2 guitars seamlessly
This sounds like such an damn informercial. I just want someone who isn't getting paid to tell me a good wireless system I can guy that's not an obviously biased review. I'm convinced the guy in the background just keeps putting hundred dollar bills in Pete's pocket everytime he toots their horn.
Have recently switched to the Shure GLXD pedalboard unit and love it. Great for us small to medium venue players..

It works for classical guitar?
@@ivanalberto3547 Yes if you have a built-in pickup and output jack.
Finally! I don't know why it's so hard to find this information. This is so very helpful. Thank you for posting!
GLXD for the guitar is the best wireless I've ever owned. Incredibly reliable.
Man, your video has more real case, pratical and clear information than oficial Shure videos channel! Thanks for this.

@@vasy1COD Getting the gain level correct. Sound the same if I was just using a regular cable instead.
Thank you Pete! You make such good quality content, much appreciated!!
Thanks for the video. The Shure Frequency finder is super helpful.
That stage looks wild.

Pete, I have an old 80’s era dual channel Nady that eats 9V batteries. Is this deprecated?

Which one to get? How about any in stock?! Check any shop and they are all out of stock for months.

I want to buy an SLXD handheld but I see 3 options of different bands. I’m in miami. Which one should I get?
Looks like the GLXD16 is discontinued. And I’m not seeing a replacement on Shure’s website. Anybody know what’s up with that?
Sweetwater has the GLXD16 in stock now while supplies last
