- In an overwhelming vote, United Methodist delegates repealed a long-standing ban on LGBTQ clergy. It essentially removes a rule that forbid homosexuals from being ordained or appointed as ministers. Good Day talked to Rev. Mitchell Boone about the change.

I just watched a video on RUclips with Methodist ministers on a panel saying they think the pews will fill up now that they changed the rules but if that were true would not the Episcopalian church be full , then I see traditional churches filled, I not understanding

What matters is that the united methodist church is going against what they’ve been teaching since their inception. The church, and any other organization that has rules, designed them to keep some people out. If the book is the word of god, then who made this decision? If it is the word as your church extols, then it’s not me, the public, the government, or even the entire world you’re contradicting.

The line "above reproach", homosexuality is a sin. Christ said in In Matthew 19:4-5, “He answered, ‘Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one’?” A man and woman are the only ones who can be married. To have sex outside of marriage is a sin. If you willfully choose to ignore God's word and live in sin... you are then not above reproach and cannot hold the office of minister or pastor. The Bible talks about this a lot. There are many verses and books in the Bible that I can quote to make this point. This church will lead people to ruin.

You purposely left out 10 and 11. It encompasses everyone that has broken the holy law of God. But those who believe are justified and sanctified by the Spirit of God through belief. What you should be quoting is the letter to Timothy showing what is a required for a person to hold a position of office within a church.

@@HonorWithSacrifice8070 I didn’t leave those verses out in purpose. 10 and 11 are part of the same list of non-repentant behaviors that will lead to NOT inheriting the kingdom of god. I only included the relevant verse and behavior being condoned by UMC in this ruling. UMC may as well allow drunkards, revilers, and extortioners into the clergy if they also allow men to have sex with one another.

Since they seem incapable of feeling it themselves, I feel shame on their behalf. I was brought up in the UM church in the 60's and 70's. That church is gone, replaced by a progressive social club. I haven't belonged to this denomination in many decades, but if I were still affiliated, this would cause me to leave. Repent. That's all I can say.

@@deweyplanck9850 Because the church buildings aren’t the church, nor is a particular day the sabbath. The Church is all those who were given faith by God to believe in the one whom he sent (Christ) and the Sabbath is Christ who we enter His rest when we cease from our works.
This is clarified in Hebrews and the rest of Paul’s letters.

The confusion is within the mistaken belief that the United Methodist Church, is actually associated with the METHODIST CHURCH (a Christian denomination). It is not.. The UMC is a seperated sect, due to its defiance, pertaining to the authority of Scripture.

Hypocrisy is just one of many reasons the congregation of the Christian church is in decline. Nowhere in God's word does it say that He would, one day, condone that which He has condemned. This is a slap in the face to God and the price Christ paid on the cross. Those who condone this, are not saved, as a profession of faith is not always possession of faith.

Sad. very very sad. Hopefully parents wisely move to NOT have their children involved in United Methodist church services/programs. Adult's.... that is fine.
Nothing against Homosexuality or any other adult mindsets on either side of the middle road . These are important to the color in the world. They are to balance each other too though. Remember EVERYTHING has a point of value on a line BUT also has points of no value and points of negative value. Therefore why balance is necessary ... aka- having a lot in the middle and some outside eking out from there works the best.. it is JUST LAWS OF NATURE. No use fighting that..... it is FUTILE and never ends well when you try... Will ALWAYS revert back to a more middle.... sometimes in ugly ways (natural disasters, war, famine, disease, etc) hmmm???
Have immense respect for children and immense understanding and experience that the goal is for children to reach early adult standing very in THE MIDDLE of EVERYTHING. (balanced yet curious and open) That way the path they embark forward, to where they will eventually sit as a mature adult is equidistant from where they stand at that point. That is best way for a circle of people to operate with success and peace in a continual trend forward. Does not matter if circle is family, neighborhood, city, state, nation or world.
When potential leader's mere presence; aka any person who it takes little to no layers peeled away to see they are not a middle centered person, does not matter if it is minister/preacher/teacher/coach/family physician etc. should have little to no involvement with young children. Example's- if their presence presents them as "OUT" or overtly religious,... militaristic, etc;. If that person could have high influence on youth just by position.... then they SHOULD WORK little to NOT NEAR YOUNGER CHILDREN and families ; till children are older teens*. NOT because these individuals are of some gross, evil etc.... which the ARE NOT..... but because that "MIDDLE point youth need to stand upon when reaching early adulthood" is of much greater importance than the needs of a "individual" adult(s). The nudge, push, encouragement must always be MIDDLE (yet with open mind ). Sure; maybe some gradual relaxing of this as older teens... then again often this happens naturally without any planned thing by adult influences anyway.... something important to realize. This is a point of healthy final shaping.. yet also a point of easy wrongful manipulation.
*older teens (17? 18?+) brain structure all the way to the cell, is more developed, along with experiences garnered by such time; means they are more ready to thimk/contemplate the immense complexity of love, hate. Contemplation's on relationships, fact, fantasy, murder, war, living things, alive humans etc. AKA contemplating the complex details of the balance of nature's complexities. They wont understand it yet... but they are; on average, now ready to put "some" clear thinking into such things. Any adult involved with purposeful introduction; prior to a ready state, of brain/experience, to contemplate any of the complex things above, woud be for OTHER! purposes by said adult and very possibly nefarious purposes. It wont be to help a young adult start at the middle.
Side note- trajectory to the moon is a curved path not a straight line. So to "shoot for the moon" (middle stance as young adult, in this case) often you have to shoot little to the right in order to reach the target intended. (since orbit pushes to the left anyway without any push from any outside sources)
The main mission of a church is not to "work with a global family" or anything of that sort. It is to obey, love and honor Jesus Christ, the Father and the Holy Spirit. To know how to do that, read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and the book of Revelation. It's pretty clear. You don't even have to own a Bible, you can google it. Mankind is sinful, not perfect. Jesus came to save us from all sin. Not to leave us in our sinful state. Jesus died on the cross and rose again because it was the only way to save us and it still is. John 3:3-21*

In my thought process, you can not be a born again follower of Jesus Christ and be homosexual. The homosexual part has died and you are a new creation following Jesus Christ..
