I've been using slobber knockers a lot as well and I have noticed that it doesn't get hung hardly at all around wood. And I believe it's because of the blade and head design. The way the blade pinned through the head keeps it from rolling. And for the chatterbait junkies out there, I'm not saying that one is better than the other. I use both and have caught tons of fish on both. Just making an observation.
The zman crosseyez has a weedguard and when combined with your tip, I run them through wood and brush piles. I made it through all last season and only lost one crosseyez. The crosseyez is my main zman chatter bait from the bank. I don’t know why zman just doesn’t add the wire guards from the crosseyez to all of their chatterbaits? They can always be pulled out if you prefer not to have the weed guards … if your willing to try a different brand, Picasso’s heavy cover vibrating jigs have weed guards and are beefier than the crosseyez. I have an entire box for the crosseyez and Picasso heavy cover. Whereas, I only have 4 mini maxes and 4 evos on hand which only get used in open water, grass situations.
I like the smaller zoom z-craw on a crosseye. Solid chartreuse on a white crosseyez or a green pumpkin is killer. I caught some monsters on those 2 last spring. Great video Tyler!
I love fishing a bladed jig in timber and laydowns, but I never use a Keitech-style swimbait. Normally, I prefer a fluke-type trailer with little to no kick. Try it one time and just look at the difference how your bladed jig moves in the water. Around timber, I like a Jackhammer Stealth with a Missile Baits D-Bomb as a trailer.
I did try this tip last year and it really does help. I picked up a couple of the crosseye chatterbaits with the weed guards to try this year also to see if this adds a little more to the woodlessness. But thanks for the great tip
I use a Yum swimming dinger, Zoom speed worm, or even a Trick worm with the tail split. Less profile allows the bait to come through cover and weeds better and lets the bait run a little bit deeper.
I’m totally with you on the Chatterbait and the trailers, and I’ve also had great success with the Cross Eyes Chatterbait designed by David Walker👊 they have the titanium wires that you can bend and I use the ZMAN Goat as the trailer. SK structure bug has a very similar body..🍀🎣🍀
Never really had the issue of hooking into cover with my chatterbaits, but my mind set was always beaver/ craw style baits when its colder water (37-55) because you can fish it slower with the more moving appendages, helps keep it higher in the water column. Kinda goes against the grain there though, cold water typically means smaller profiles and less movement, lets be honest though its a reaction bite bait... itll be moving anyway. Once the water warms up (55- 90) I will typically switch over to a swimbait/worm style trailer on my chatterbaits. Is this right or wrong? Who knows but its worked for me for years and makes sense to me. Not everything has to be done the same otherwise we wouldn't ever see new things in our sport. Love the videos man, keep up the good work!!
Totally agree!! They’ve started to bite the blades jig up here in Michigan the past couple weeks! ruclips.net/video/7l8Iamm9W8o/видео.htmlsi=Ul3lwA9ZNwlA7mAG
Nice tip . Thanks buddy . Have a bunch of Zako trailers but definatly going to be trying out the Beaver styled trailers . Regards from South Africa . You definitely becoming one of my RUclips Favourites to watch 😊👍
Bass pro shops sell their own brand of a bladed jig called an “Enticer”. It has a vibrating jig type of head and blade, but it has a swing head style of hook connection with an 4/0 EWG hook. Its not super expensive either. It does ok in wood especially when compared to a typical Chatterbait.
Do u ever snip about ⅜ off the nose of your trailer to shorten the length up a bit? Just wondering, I do on the rage claws.. (I think that's their name, there's so dang many different names, I'm still trying to learn them all...)
I want to see a mix of a flat bodied bait with either a straight tail like say a spunk shad or a boot tail like a Keitech very niche bait but it could be good, also and alternative to this problem is the chatterbait crosseyez by Z-Man the biggest thing I have against it is the components are not as good as a jackhammer
Instead of a beaver bait, try the Geecrack Bellows Shad as a trailer, has the flat belly to keep it from rolling but has an added tail action that is amazing , also helps with ticking your chatterbait off the top of grass
Ya always have great info. Here's the thing though. That Bugatti of Bass Boats doesn't go well with the "Uncle Bobby" camp chair. Maybe upgrade your chair.... lol. My comment is meant in good fun. Keep up the great work.
@@TylerBergerFishing ok, I was just curious. I've been watching the bassfishingHQ channel for a while and just found this one and wasn't sure what to think. I appreciate you replying
@@TylerBergerFishing it's a pain to get into a jackhammer, for sure, but I've not used glue. The new Evo chatterbait keeper is better for elaztech baits.

@TylerBergerFishing I've tried and casted them a lot and know there is fish in the area because I've switch to crankbaits and spinnerbaits and caught them right behind casting a chatterbait for a while.
Y’all really watch this hack lol this the guy that steals content from everyone isn’t it…proving nothing special about fisherman anymore when any hack can “teach” …get a job
Haha 😂 priceless I figured you might be doing a chatterbait video right after I last comment on your previous vid! Also I would recommend the cross-eyed chatterbait by ZMan paired with the brand new “Crush-City” crawler trailers by Rapala…the wire weed guard prevents hang ups and the crawler trailers help the vibrating jig from rolling and snagging on limbs or logs 🪵.

Boot tails soak up some chatter action, while straight tails do not
@@davidgerdes1815 Anything that "flaps" will create drag and hamper the action.
I have tried missile d-bombs as a trailer on my jackhammers I haven't had any success. I do have success with zako's & to worms tho.

I use the Berkley Slobberknocker around lay downs and it comes through like a 4x4
I haven't had a lot of luck with the bladed jig, but I have switched trailers, and have yet to get hung up.

I put the Berkley Gilly as a trailer on a chatterbait...worked pretty good...bulkier profile
Good idea. I don't wanna lose my expensive Slobber knocker
What size of Gilly? I think I have some! I'll look this week and see what I have. Thanks for the idea!
@@kevinpitts3548 I used the small & medium size...the big size would probably work on the big zman chatterbait
I've used a Berkley Pitboss, people thought I was crazy until I caught fish with it. 🤙
I could see that working pretty dang good!! I’ll have to give it a try

I have a love hate relationship with chatter baits. I hate fishing with em, but love catching bass on em. Thanks for the tip, gonna give it a try.

Since you like the Zako quite a bit, ... why not turn it sideways to accomplish the same goal as the beaver bait ???
It’s round all around
How’s the action when using a Beaver-style trailer on a Chatterbait?

Great tip
Hook the Zako thru the side instead of the top and problem solved.
Worked for me anyway
Wow, this should help me a lot, chatterbaits can be really expensive, so hopefully this should save me some, while also catching more fish!
Chatterbaits are very expensive
There are some where the head and hook are connected with a ring. I find them to get waaaaay less snagged
Great tip.
Great video as always.
Thank you!
I know they were designed as trailers but Zakos are awesome as a swimbait on a 3/0 weighted spring-lock EWG.
I have heard that. I will have to get it a try

The Zman Razor Shadz is the best trailer

Turn that zako sideways. Does the same thing and still has that bait fish action
Can You pls make a video on how to fish a lake that has lots of ducks
Lots of ducks or docks?
😂 or Ducts ??

The new Evo chatterbait keeper is better for elaztech baits.
The best way to use a Chatterbait is to take the rubber skirting off and put on a big swimbait
Or just use the crosseye chatterbait with the weed gaurd wires.
Great

I'm like using weedless chatterbaits in wood.

You can really skip it that way too!
What happened to your other channel ?? H.Q. ??
It’s still around. Just higher quality content over there for the most part. Simple tips over here
I would just speed up my retrieve.
couldn't you just rig the zako like the beaver?
Kinda yes but a Zako isn’t symmetrical so it wants to ride to the side a little. Probably not enough to matter but enough that I notice
