Ya. U can buy a pump, they are cheap. But i personally removed mine. And took the outer covers off of it. And cleaned out all the gunk that gets in there. And reinstalled it. Been working great for me. Going on 4 years now
I've never cleaned mine out and I've had it for 3 years. It still works great. I use it I'm my greenhouse so it gets a little dirty. I've never had an issue with the pump. I watched because I wanted to see how to get in there to clean out the filters. Great video..
Thank you for sharing this information. The instructions that came with the pump, were terrible! Sadly, my husband and I watched your video after the frustrating instructions and trying to figure out how the heck to get that tube through. Then, I finally said let’s RUclips it. I’m sure we’re not the only ones who needed to replace one. While searching around, we did learn, we should’ve been cleaning it periodically by running it with som e vinegar in the water. Of course, it didn’t say how much….lol My husband and I will definitely be using the vinegar. My wonderful man is patient and hardly ever does he let things get under his skin. He was steaming with words not made for television coming out of his mouth so, again, a great big thanks. 💖
😂😂😂😂 what the heck. Hey the pump is clogged. Unplugged all the hoses also. Use a little water container to test the pump. Mine was clogged. But honestly is a really nice 👍🏽 swamp cooler. Cheers 🍻
I've been using the same model unit since 2018 and never had the pump fail yet (knock on wood). The wheels rusted on mine and were a real pain to replace since the screws holding them had rusted. Had to use a cutting wheel and cut a slot for a flathead, since the Phillips head stripped out immediately. I like that parts are readily available, besides replacing the pads (hard water here), just normal maintenance. Looking at the water condition in your unit, you need to clean it out more often. The dust from dust storms will do bad things to your pump. Normal maintenance means draining the water regularly and cleaning out the crud on the bottom of the water tank. When I store mine for the winter, I use some bleach in the water, let the pump run for a while, and then drain it and let it dry out. I just had the drain plug break on mine today so RUclips directed me to your video. I also use "portacool hard water treatment" from Home Depot to prevent the buildup from hard water (4 little "bars" in a package, just add one every couple of months). I drain mine nearly every day in the summer and then fill it back up. This really helps with the scale buildup on the pads, they last at least twice as long. These work really well here in the desert, but as you've noted, don't use them in an enclosed space unless you like hot and humid. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I suspect cleaning the water out regularly is why my water pump hasn't failed. I did also have to replace the GFCI but that didn't surprise me since it was obviously cheap. I got a new one on Amazon that didn't require me to reset it every time I plugged it back in.
I got the exact same one (new, one week old). The first problem I had was with the water valve. The arm got misaligned when I attached the garden hose. I simply aligned it and no issues, no leaks, works fine. As for the pump, no issues (yet). The Amazon seller is sending me a new water valve under warranty. Those 120v pumps can be bought for dirt cheap and direct wired to the top panel switch. As for the performance of this unit: 1) I am in Oklahoma and it has been in the 100's 2) three-car garage temps have decreased 10-15F 3) makes working in the garage "bearable" vs dying a slow hot death. I use Best Air humidifier "Bacteriostatic" in mine at night (fan off, pump on)...gets the water clean and algae free (smells good too).
I have one in my 400 square foot garage. The best that I have done is an ambient/garage temperature difference of 28 degrees. Note: If your average humidity is 25% or more forget it. The garage will feel like a swamp.
I've had two of these, same model for four years now. I had to replace one of the pumps. It will fail if you run it when the water level gets too low. Lesson learned. The other one has never had a pump failure. I run these all day long in the summer here in Fresno, Ca, for about 5-6 months. It gets up to 114 degrees here at the hottest temps. I keep it a few feet away from me on the hottest days. My ac broke, and I don't want to replace it, as we have the highest utility rates in the country (PG&E). I have a smaller one that I place on a stand at the foot of the bed, as the tank will work for 8-9 hours on low. These have saved my electric bill. Sure, I'd rather have ac, but people here are charged hundreds each month just to run their ac. However, it is a pain to change the filters on these and to clean out the front and side vents. Those should have been designed to be easily removed. All in all, I love this cooler.
If you want to extend the life of this $400 unit and you are going to use a hose, spend an extra $25 and get on RV hose filter to filter the water. This removes all the crap. Those filters are rated for 3-100 psi throughput. Of significant note, in the manual in boldface, it says do not exceed 65psi. Get a faucet regulator (also branded for RV - $25) as well so you can set it correctly and not overdrive the inlet of the pump meant for 65 or less psi. As they say RTFM, but also consider the quality of water supply.
Damm bro your hard on that little cooler. Says not to blast it with strong water preasure it'll ruin your pads for one..also Never put your hands inside the fan shroud with the power on....good way to loose your fingers if that thing starts up. Go a little easier on it and it'll last you a good 5 years but all in all good video..
Yeah I thought the water pressure was a little too much. I live in the desert and I just got one of these and now I'm trying to clean it. I'll keep looking for a video on how to get those dang pads out.
@@nunyabizness296 you just take off those screws in the back and cover should come rite off and then you just pull out the pads...spray them down with white vinegar and let them sit for 20 min then spray them off not full preasure them off just a firm "spray" hope that helps.
water quality isnt uniform use an ispring prefilter with about 500 micron mesh to condition the water before use also great for the water heater to increase heater life and less frequent flushing it removes sediment u also have to flush these hessaire evap units
Dude, with nasty water like that what do you expect. I wouldn’t even want to breath the air coming out of that thing. That is literally a “Swamp Cooler” lol..
Comments : 1.The 2nd law of thermodynamics says that heat moves from a hotter surface to a colder surface, so by opening the garage door and the interior door this is reducing the thermal efficiency of the cooler. 2. This type of cooler is considered a " spot cooler " , in other words it can cool an area directly in front of the air flow but cannot cool the air or surfaces adjacent to the direct air discharge path.
if you use these evaporative cooler you know that by not opening the doors your humidity skyrockets and you lose all cooling effects of an evaporative cooler.
There is nothing wrong with the pump. It froze because anything that pumps water builds up calcium on drive shaft when you let it dry out over the winter, the drive shaft froze. There is not much torque in those motors, and it does not take much to freeze the driveshaft. Some pumps will last several years. I had one in Las Angeles where the calcium of the water is low. Eventually it did freeze, but after four years. I moved to Vegas where the water has a lot of calcium and it froze the first off season. If your drinking water tastes like crap, and you are buying a lot of bottled water, you have a lot of calcium and minerals in it. I suggest putting a bunch of white vinegar in it, which dissolves calcium. Run it several times for a few hours each winter to keep the shaft from freezing up. This may bot work, but it is what I do and I get more than a year out of my pump. The off season is harder on them than the summer. I used to live in Mesa. The water is very hard in Maricopa county, because much of it comes from the Colorado river which has a lot of limestone. Limestone is close to 100% calcium and dissolves easily in water. Any pump will freeze up, it is just a matter of time. If you do what I suggest, you might get three seasons out of it. If you don't any new pump that you get will freeze up in one winter, unless you get incredibly lucky. I had a swamp cooler on my house. It seems that I had to climb up on the roof and put a new pump in it every year, until I started running it every week for about an hour in the winter. The water that evaporates is pure h2o leaving the calcium and minerals behind. I had a pool service there and we had to drain pools every few years because the calcium levels would get so high in the pools, that the chemicals would lock up. If you had an older pool with an 8' deep end, count on all of it evaporating every year. If you have a newer pool with no deep end, about every nine months. A swamp cooler works by evaporating the water, pure water is what evaporates. It leaves calcium behind and the calcium level in your tank is at insane levels by the end of the season, especially in Phoenix. You might try draining the water in it and putting in fresh water a couple of weeks before the end of the season. I don't know if that will work, but it can't hurt.
I have one a smaller one than the video. I ordered it March 1 got it March 8th started using it more end of April and May right now the pump is not working or doing anything no sound no pumping.
My cooler is a year old also. The fan motor wouldn't even keep turning. It keeps squealing and then stops completely. What the heck? There's rust all through the motor. I took the whole motor apart. The brushes were so rusted it was awful. I drained my cooler let everything dry out completely. It was sealed and stored inside my apartment. Even the pads were completely dry before it was put away. I washed everything out with bleach and hot water. Dried it and put it away. Now how did it rust up? I dried it out totally. No water could get into it at all. But I got the motor brushes to turn. Took wet dry 220 grit sand paper to get the rust off the housing and brushes. Put oil on the bearings in the motor housing. It freaking still makes so much noise. It's way to loud. It turns now very freely. But that noise is unreal. I've ran it for one day. It's not rattling like bearings are bad. It's a noise like the motor bushings or brushes are scaping way to much. How can I fix this? I've done all I know to remove the rust. Which should not even be there. Stored inside a warm apartment since last September. There's got to be a way of dealing with this noise. Any help and advice is really welcome. I've used liquid wrench to remove rust around the bearings. I didn't remove the bearing cover yet Should I open it and check the bearings inside? Im more than capable of doing so. I just didn't want to tear down more than necessary. Please help. Im on a very fixed budget. So yes money is an issue. Never thought after paying this much I'd have this kind of issue after one season either. I don't even hose mine off like you do in your video. Im very careful with where water hits my cooler.
Great video Brian,! I use my swamp cooler out in the patio area for my two dogs who love to hang outside. It works awesome for them. But, I just hooked mine up a month ago and my pump has gone out. I am not very handy with stuff like that. Would you be willing to help me replace my pump if I purchase one from Home Depot or get a replacement pump from the company?
I would NEVER buy a Hessaire Cooler again. First one the motor burned within a year. Tried to get replacement from the company but they had terrible customer service and weaseled out of assisting me. Ultimately Amazon made it good and sent me a new Hessaire Cooler. The second one also failed, I had it checked because the water wasn't flowing so I thought it was the pump. Wrong, it was the control switch that turns the pump on. Warning: don't buy this brand nor this company. Coolers work well initially but get ready for various mechanical breakdowns. Obviously poor quality parts and cheap construction yet very expensive compared to other brands.
Would not recommend one of these. My fan frame broke and they wouldn't warranty it. Part was never available so it just became plastic garbage. Never buying a hessaire product again.
I call BS...and if that was one year's worth of water, you're either running well water or you'd better not be drinking that crap coming out of your faucets! Geez, face it, you got mad because they wanted proof of purchase so you decided to slam them on RUclips.
NO BS, but big city water isn't stuff you wanna drink that is for sure around here!!! Hessaire came thru and did an amazing job, look for my follow up video. Thanks for watching Rob!

work on my dad's this morning. had take the pump and clean the scale build up from the intake and now it works like a champ again
I now run a water filter on the water house I use to fill the cooler, makes life a bit easier.
I would think that any one would know not to get the switches wet!

sounds like and looks like from your vid. scale buildup around pump intake. take that garden hose and pressure wash it in the cooler...

Truth!!! and if you don't give it some air flow it will make the garage worse!
I was so waiting for the electric shock to come when he turned on those wet switches and standing on wet pavement.
Good thing I got those shots from the Government to stop it hahahahahhaha thanks for watching Woodsman!

Dude that thing is so nasty, it won’t run like that nor should it, you’ll chew up the pump blades on all that dirty.
Made in China. My Portocool (made in USA) is 4 years old and running STRONG.
Portocool? I need to check them out, I will gladly pay for money for a USA made better product!! Thanks for the tip!!!!!
@2:22 - water like that will kill more pumps. You can get those tiny pumps for ~$10 .
Where

I heard they did an update but have yet to see one available round me.
I got mine and the pump never worked gonna try to replace it

Hello!
I got the same problem and I use for my chicken!
They did fix it under warranty but I later replaced the pump with a bigger one!

LMAO! Keep your garage cool? Aint gonna' happen. Absolutely useless in Arizona. Biggest waste of $200 in my life.
Those pumps are cheap garbage one will last years one won’t
