These speakers are still awesome. I started with a pair of Q100's and added the Q200 centre. I thought that sounded outstanding until I matched the Q400 sub. Absolutely outstanding clarity, depth and accuracy of the original soundtrack. Thanks KEF for making these high performance speakers at an affordable price point. What I like the most is the fact they perform just as good with movies as they do with Music.
@JAAPIOJO Dipoles are rear effects speakers and are only sold in pairs. You can use the dipoles as rear effects in a 5.1 setup with any of our bookshelf or floorstanding models as front left and right channels or you can incorporate the dipoles into a 7.1 setup if you wish. You do not have to use dipoles as rear speakers if you do not wish as you can still use the bookshelf or floorstanding models for rear effects also. You could use an additional centre speaker if you wish to make a 6.1 system
I just purchased a pair of Q100s over the weekend and boy do I love them. I listened to the vaunted psb Alpha B1s and the step up Image B5s which were both slightly cheaper but I felt the Q100s still came out on top. The mids and highs of all three sounded comparable in the listening room I was in, but the Q100s had a bit more punch in the lower end than the psbs. The Q100s sound great in my current space and they are able to fill my modest space even though they are pretty small. If or when I do move into a larger space and step up to a pair of floor standers I'll definitely keep KEF in mind. I'm gushing over these speakers at the moment and just wanted to express this. They are a great match with my NAD amp as well. Happy listening!
I've purchased the KEF Q100's and Q200C and very happy with them. I'm now looking to update my receiver. My old Yamaha receiver sounds ok but need a quality receiver to match the quality of the new speakers. I like a few Marantz units however read somewhere that Denon and Onkyo are a better sound match to the KEF speakers. Any advise / recommendations would be appreciated.
+Lovinit Hi there, Good to hear that you are enjoying your KEF Q Series! If you're looking to update your receiver, we would recommend that you head to a KEF retailer for on the spot advice and, if possible, an in-store demo with a pair of Q100s. It's quite subjective and everyone has a personal preference.Hope you find a good match and happy listening!
Thanks for the reply. I ended up purchasing the new Onkyo receiver and have now completed my KEF 5.1 speaker set. Once i added the Q200c, the wonderful Q400b sub the sound was not quite right, then I completed the set with a pair of Q300's and couldn't be happier with the sound. Thanks KEF for making such affordable speakers at this quality. One day I'll update to the R Series.
Hi Ashwin -I use mine with a Onkyo TX-NR646. It is rated at 160W per channel but it doesn't seem like I'm getting that kind of volume from it. It does sound nice though once you get the settings to your liking. Also recommend the Q700 over the Q500 the larger speaker will make a difference. Make sure you are using good speaker wire and also consider by amping the front 2 speakers.
Bose completely sucks and has no chance against Bose:) i love it , we have switched one main stream person to the good side :) now we need to get more :)

Great news, glad to hear you are enjoying the Q100s! What are you listening to at the moment?
I'm basically re-listening to my music collection that involves a lot of older rock, jazz, and classical. I'm hearing things now that I hadn't before!
I am using Q900 with Sansui AU 4900. excellent combination,,😍
Love my Kef Speakers, they go so well with my Nad amps.
KEFAudio - What speaker stands are those under the Q300?

+KEF Audio UK hi kef would the q700 or q500 and q600 be adequately powered by an onkyo 818
Hi Ashwin, That receiver should be fine with any combination of Q Series.
Hope that has helped. Many thanks, KEF

Going to upgrade from my q500s to r500s
Just amazing and beautty.. I've just bought a Q200 to start the upgrade of my tiny Energy Take Classic. The next step: Q500. Can't wait. Kef ftw.
Have you already bought the Q500 and tested with different genres of music?
Manchester.
