- hi i made this in like a few hours but anything for dovewing my beloved
this is about dovewing realizing that all everyone sees of her is an annoying, childish replacement for someone they all loved and respected (aka hollyleaf) and at the end she finally snaps
(you know its kind of funny because the fandom also interprets her as a hollyleaf replacement)
so many people turned dovewing into someone who's perfect and has no struggles, and almost every time she does have struggles it's ivypool being mean to her for ivypool's character development- which really bothers me, so i decided to cut out ivypool entirely.

Dovewing doesn't deserve the hate she gets, she just wanted to be happy and make people happy. I love her so much but she just never gets any respect. I feel like squirrelflight and dovewing are some of the most real cats in the books. They tried their best but nobody, not even life, was on their side.

Personally I dont mind abunch about Dovewing I dont hate her at all but shes not like a favorite. I REALLY dont like Squirrelflight(and Leafpool) tho. They caused Hollyleaf to go insane, they lied about who her parents were. And I had to go through something similar and its a horrible feeling. I really understand why Hollyleaf did everything she did and why she announced it at the gathering. Someone you looked up to for so long, everybody else knows them as sees them as great people, just to realize they were nothing but filthy, bad-hearted, liers. But I know that other ppl see Squirrelflight as extremely kind for not telling the Clan the truth, or feel bad for her because she has Bramblestar as a mate. Just my personal opinion

I really wish the books touched on this. Jay, but especially lion show just such contempt for dovewing. They don't care about her as a cat, just her part in the prophecy, and furthermore the part the two would have rather been held by Holly. It almost is a theme with dovewing. All the cats who are around her only want to get something out of her. Use her in a prophecy, have her bear their kits, even ivypool got upset when she happened to show her up. And when you look at it through this lense it makes more sense that she would get with tiger heart someone who doesn't gain much by falling in love with her, until he uses her for herbs, which is when we see her decline. But ultimately it is his tenacity that wins her over, him trying to prove he does love her.
It is kind of a sad irony isn't it? A Mary Sue, written to be loved, but to be loved by no one. Not the characters, and not even the readers.

Her powers almost grant her that aspect from the outside but she's a very flawed character with many mistakes..I mean lion and jay could also be considered mary sues for having powers but no one does because they have personalities that don't fit a mary sue and plenty of flaws. If dovewing were truly perfect she would of had bumbles kittens and been a loyal thunderclan warrior with 0 feelings about her clan using her and the clan would of adored her, but this isn't what we see
Id like to interpret this as a reason why dove left thunderclan, cause at least in shadowclan shes not a replacement for someone everyone knew, shes her own person.

Honestly I always liked Dovewing but man is she sad to think about. She never got to be a kit/apprentice like the Three did bc she got the prophesy as a Literal Infant. She's always been pushed to Be Something for her clan. Be it the saviour of all of them or just Hollyleaf 2 to Jay and Lion.
I'm glad she gets a cat husband that loves her for who she is and not what she is. But man, it must hurt to see Shadowsight getting tossed around by starclan like she was as a kit.

thats why tiger and dove is like. the only canon ship i actually really like in warriors. i feel like it ties really well into dovewings struggles and she deserves a person who loves and cares for her because of who she is, not what she can give him.

@@emilymonahan5232 i love shadowclan dovewing. people hated dovewing a lot more moving to shadowclan… but if you like and pay attention to her character and not just ivypool’s you’ll know it makes sense for her. i reread OOTS a year ago and was shocked by how much it changed my view of dovewing.
dovewing, at a young age, is pushed by jayfeather and lionblaze to be something she doesn’t want to be : a prophecy cat loyal to the code. she doesn’t understand clan boundaries and why your loyalties must stick to one clan. she gets pushed around a lot by other cats and tries to please them. she feels pressured to please her sister and to date bumblestripe, but ultimately follows her heart in the end and joins shadowclan where she has freedom from her old pressures. tigerheart isn’t perfect, but he loves the part of dovewing that she is most comfortable being, so i’m happy for her.
edit : there’s also a line in oots where she thinks about moving to shadowclan lol, which made me realize this wasn’t an ooc decision for her at all
I used to dislike Dovewing but your comment made me rethink it. I didn't really think about it that way. This makes me wonder how much deeper the history of warrior cats is than I think.

i haven't read oots yet but i feel like this is a LOT more accurate to dovewing's character than what over half the fandom portrays her as xd

YES THIS IS THE DOVEWING CONTENT I LOVE! It’s not her fault Starclan decided she was one of the three and not Hollyleaf. She has to deal with feeling like a replacement who everyone despises. She feels like she doesn’t belong (hence why she agrees to go to Shadowclan where she isn’t a replacement) I love this sm

Remember that one moment when DoveWing was like “JAYFEATHER YOU BITCH IVYPOOL IS FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE IN THE DARK FOREST AND YOUR USING HER AS BAIT!!!1!1!!1” and remember when IvyPool was sisterly to Dovewing? Basically, they were friendly rivals. Even when they seemed to hate each other through the whole of Omen Of Starts, they still loved each other. And THATS what people don’t understand. It’s not “oh yea IvyPool was only nice to DoveWing at the end of Omen of the stars,”

I love this! Not sure why Dove gets so much hate, she’s one of my favorite characters! I totally agree on what you said about Ivy. Dovewing in my opinion is under so much pressure about being forced into a prophecy, and she just wants to be normal. She can’t control that she’s in the prophecy and Hollyleaf isn’t. Blame Starclan for that, not her, and the art is beautiful!

I must be a rare breed because I love both sisters. I wish the books handled them better... Anyway, I love this mv, it's so good, the artstyle, the song choice and of course representing something not often seen : dovewing not being very liked even in the story. I feel sad that both sisters got rejected by everyone, even between themselves. I like to imagine their bond stronger than ever after realizing how much they have in common

Before I read The Fourth Apprentice, I saw all the community praise Ivy and not Dove, so I did the same; I hated Dovewing. Now that I have started reading the book, I think she’s my favourite character now. I hate how everyone glorifies Ivy for being rude to Dove. Even after Ivy shoved away Dove, she still considered Ivy as a good sister she wanted to hang out with. I feel so bad for her and relate so much when everyone doesn’t believe her and start to think she is annoying. Dovewing deserves better :(

I can't remember if i already commented on this but i love this. I never really noticed how isolated Dovewing is, so thank you for showing me. The way that the hearts on her ears disappeared really hits hard.

I really, really love this. I've never been someone who loves Dovewing, but I've never hated her either. I was just kind of neutral towards her. But this puts a new spin on her story, and I think it would've been so much more interesting if we got to see this Dovewing in the book. I love getting to see the cats actually be affected by the others around them and how they're treated, so often I feel like it's over looked.

I love this!! I like how raw the emotions are, plus the designs?? Lovely! The colors look super good together, and they set the mood nicely. I like the parallels between Hollyleaf and Dovewing, too: they both have the pink markings on their cheeks, and have the same grin when with Jay and Lion

When I first saw Dove’Wing, I never really liked her. I saw her as whiny and annoying, but this AMV really stood out to me and showed me just how much Dove’Wing struggled in her life. She had no one, not even her sister. She was alone. She could never be like how everyone wanted her to be, so she eventually left.
I honestly adore Dove’Wing now and feel really bad for the gal

this is such an incredibly beautiful way to draw / color dovewing and all of the other cats from the series. i really enjoyed watching this! it was easy to get tired of listening to this from how quickly beloved spinel was but this gave me a new love for the song! your expressions are very cartoony and endearing but the way you draw the fluff and proportions also provides the same qualities that makes us love cats so much. amazing work!!
near the end the end i was thinking "how perfect would it be to end with some really smooth animation, maybe make her scowl or something" and OMGi was blown away this is absolutely amazing!!!!!!! :D

This is the best Dovewing design I have ever seen. This is a fantastic MV! Seriously, what a cool AU. I love it so much.
I hate how much people undermine Dovewing. She’s gone through so much. She was constantly manipulated and borderline abused by the cats by the cats closest to her, especially lion and jay. I don’t really blame them because they we’re experiencing their own traumatic bullshit at the time, and on top of that had a new life to deal with, not mention they were technically still kids at the time themselves. Still, it was traumatizing for baby Dovewing having her entire family just flip on her like a switch when she needed them the most. I especially hate how tigerheart treated her. I’d dare say their relationship was straight child grooming, He used their relationship to sabotage thunderclan medicine storage. That was really fucked up. I can understand why she left, but she still deserves so much better than tigerheart. (And bumblestripe)
