Neon Ballroom and Diorama were successful in Australia, but did not perform anywhere near as well in the US and overseas compared to the first two. When Silverchair went on hiatus in 2003, Daniel formed a side project called the dissociatives. Their one album sounds very similar to YM. Daniels change in genre has been a gradual and natural progression. He never turned pop to make more money!
