  • Filmed on July 4, 2018: located in College Station, TX. This elevator has kind of seen better days since I first rode it. Outside doors got heavier and the car gate near the COP (control operating panel) wasn't shut properly is why the elevator wouldn't move. Thankfully, this thing still runs great although it was a little low on oil during the second ride. Just I gotta say, this is BY FAR one of the MOST HEAVIEST manual doors I had ever operated in my whole entire life on a freight elevator!!!! Never came across any freighters with manual doors that are this heavy. I had to set the camera down and use both hands in order for me to open and close the doors. See how hard I wrestled around with them in this video! Installed in 1972.

Those doors were extremely heavy! I would have needed extra help closing this thing. Also, epic C-sharp pitched motor!

I only ridden one freight elevator in my life, but I didn't do it with permission it was because I had to. The only elevator there was undergoing maintenance so they allowed the public to ride the freight elevator. It wasn't anything special and it didn't have the outside door and interior gate, it had 4 speed doors instead. But it was still big enough to be a freight elevator. Location is Wonderworks in Branson Missouri

If you need a workout just go to that elevator and open and close those doors one time. I have only been on one freight elevator in my life the doors were no where near that heavy

MAN! I think they need to replace the entire door!

Look like the doors could use some new grease or oil in the door tracks and guides so it won’t be so hard to pull.

the reason those doors are so heavy is because it's a FREIGHT elevator!, it's probably used for heavy freights or something for staff who are really strong!, not saying you are not strong but that really is for staff use only!

But most manual freight doors aren’t THIS bad. Also this is in a public area w/ no signs saying not to use it.

@@EWPA14 most service elevators are meant to be public but that's really not the case
