Hi Aidan, most LNER secondary line services were made up of whatever they could string together in a rake! So would be quite authentic. Very inspiring modeling! Phoenix (the model paint people) are reintroducing Ian Kirk coach kits, very exiting for us LNER fans!
They're not too hard to put together. There's plenty of detailing available too. After a few builds it becomes easier and you find yourself engrossed in kit-bashing them into rarer types, like the diagram 62 I put on my channel! Regards Shaun. @@AidansRailways
Hi David. Only wish I had got there earlier and maybe got more. They're different / unique. Sadly only got the last one but it really stood out to me so I had to get it. Cheers David
Hi Tom 👋. Yes it is very dark. It’s a hard one to describe. It’s shade reminds me of the film. The first great train robbery. It has that dark dirty sooty look to it. Apart from being a interesting piece it’s one of the reasons I wish I had managed to get there earlier and maybe have acquired one or more. I think it’ll be a hard shade for me to replicate so I almost certainly think it will have to be in a mixed rake. It definitely has a unique look to it. Cheers Tom
Another lucky find! It seems that model shop of yours just keeps on giving and at surprisingly low prices. Better not reveal its location or there'll be a queue a mile long around the block! :)
Hahaha well here it is: durhamtrainsofstanley.co.uk/my_store/. Swings and roundabouts Steve. I only wish I had visited earlier when there may have been more than just the one. When I bought this coach they had a massive selection of second hand main range gresley teaks, mostly boxed. I know from I bought mine they are about £50 each and the shop was selling the preowned ones for £25-£30. I didn't get any although it was a mental struggle not to leave with some hahaha. cheers Steve
