I've just switched from G425 Max to G430 Max. Spin has dropped about 400rpm which is fantastic and give more distance. Not sure I would try the 10k as I can't imagine it would be considerable better to warrant the cost.
@@jasonlee5279 that's what's the TXG guys said. That they could easily for a G430 max to get those numbers and once you mess with the weights MOI changes so it's no longer 10k. Price is wild ping is more than TM
@@jasonlee5279 Yep, not worth the money unless you just have it to spend. I have a g430 max and the max 10k. The difference b/w the two is not worth another $600 for a driver.
The conparison everyone wanted to see. Im starting to get the idea that the TaylorMade is just not very good. Coupled with the quality control issues last couple of kf years, I'd think twice before buying a TaylorMade driver.
Great comparison. I would choose the Ping 10k, sits neutral and square and i need a flat setting. nice to see the spin stayed around 2200, way too much spin from the TM. After getting custom fit for my TSR3 just 4 months ago I'm not looking to get into a new driver. Very curious to see what Titleist will reveal this fall, staying with TS line up ?
I read at the TSr release that it would be the last of the TS line and the next line would carry a different naming system. Would be a great time to add a composite low spin model. I don't think last few 4s have been impressive at all. That said, I play a TSr3 and may pick up a 10K for winter and bad weather days.
The Qi10 isnt bad but the Max 10k is probably the best driver ever made. Lower spin than the regular G430 and more forgiving. The only thing u lose from the regular Ping G430 is that adjustability and maybe the slightly deeper face. That is to say the Qi10 max draw slight bias is great as I have stayed away from Taylormade driver because of the fade bias they have, the increase 10k MOI and the wider face profile is also very good. That said I dont really like the carbon at all, the sound and feel great but I feel like I lose ball speed due to the slightly low smash factor, and I feel like it also spin the ball more.
Looked like every qi10 was a heel strike and every ping was a toe strike. Could be the difference in head weight / swing weight. Or just random luck. Either way - the heel vs toe likely accounts for the majority of the spin difference.
You said identical shafts...but the Ping head is heavier and you would need to put a counter weight in the grip of the Ping shaft to have the same swing weight!!
Much prefer the TM looks and sound would definitely buy the 10.5 and drop it to 9.0 to combat the draw bias, isn’t your velocore shaft an extra £300 on top of the price
Did you change the back weight on the ping to bring the swing weight down where you used the Ventus shaft? If not, do you think that accounted for the slower club head speed?
For $975 in Canada i won’t be buying that PING too soon. Golf manufacturers are seeing how far they can push the consumer before we say enough is enough. But I’m only one person, there are 2 others buying it so doesn’t really matter. Doesn’t matter the make they are all over priced.
Not entirely true. That concept makes sense but I was custom fit for 2016 M2, TSR2 and TSR3 all needed a CB shaft. Evenflow Riptide CB and HZDRS red CB 50g 6.0 in my last custom fit for TSR3. I’ve tried Ventus in M2 and my spin were all above 3,000 no matter where I hit on the face.
Can we see a test report on the new Mizuno 230 ST MAX driver, with a comparison between TM QI10 max and the Callaway AI smoke Max? from other people‘s test results the Mizuno looks like a real winner. I’m curious how it performs against the others and it’s bracket, even throw the new Ping 10K in there too.
I tested the ping 10k against all the other usual suspects and the one thing holding it back was that I simply could not swing it as fast as other drivers. My clubhead speed was down using the same shaft. I don't know if it's the center of gravity of that head or something else but I just couldn't get it out there as far as anything else. Spin was fine, clubhead speed and ball speed was down
The lower spin of the Ping is is helpful with your club head speed, however the higher spin in the TM maybe more beneficial for a lower swing speed. The lower swing speed needs higher spin to maintain flight. Thoughts?
Yes can be true. Another way to look at it for a slower swing speed is to increase the launch of the spin is on the lower side, good recipe for more distance. The above is subject to tilt axis of golf ball, is a player tilts more (more side spin) then a higher backspin helps to reduce tilt axis for straighter shots. Therefore, it totally depends on the players delivery, not just swing speed 👍
The Ping's dispersion was clearly better than TM's. If you were counting the first cut, then Ping had that long one left that was on the edge of the first cut so only 4 'out of the fairway' and TM's misses were noticeably larger. Plus Ping was longer. Easy call based on the data.
Greqt video im in Northern Ireland and ping haven't supplied any one with demos yet every single other brand has ,so ive tested the q10 dark speed and smoke ai standsrd q10 came up triumphs just very frustrating ping not available to try
It is rather sureal, sitting here with 36*C temp and 80% humidity, watching you hit balls out into snow. I feel like I have a fever - sweating and shivering at the same time. 🥵🥶 The relative depth of the driver face is interesting Michael. The Ping looks significantly shallower than the TM. Did you have to adjust tee height, or ball position to accomodate the difference?
The Ping was hardly out of the fairway, but the Taylor Made misses were much more pronounced. Who cares about the sound when the Pings dispersion was much better with more distance.
Shows the difference between a marketing company and an engineering company. Qi10 max just spins way to much, I'd bet the BRNR finds more fairways with no distance loss.
The Taylormade Max just doesn’t have any punch. Everywhere you see reviews on it it’s like 15 to 20 yards behind everything else. If I had to play the TM I would just go with the standard model at least you’re going to get some distance. I can’t wait to see some more head to heads against Titleist and also Callaway, Mizuno and even Wilson’s new one when it comes out. The Dynapower was a burner in 2023 for performance.

Love the snow!
I would actually compare how many balls are in the fairway - 2 for TM vs 4 for Ping.
The Ping is the clear winner here, straighter and farther.

Hit my buddies Ping 10K the other day, one of those will be in my bag soon. Awesome driver. Nice job Michael.

already done this in the 10k review video 👍
The snow is a nice touch.
great review, consistent shafts and you are the only one who alternates shots to keep it fair 😃! Thank you
Thanks
Ping took that comparison pretty easily. More forgiving in dispersion and more distance
Looking forward to seeing these compared to the tsr2, rated the longest in the more forgiving category
👍
Ping looks longer face to back and the dispersion seems to suggest it is more forgiving. Barely losing any distant on pushes. That's insane.
cant wait for 3 years from now when these come down to a reasonable price....
Apparently there is a G400 Max that supposedly has 10,000 of forgiveness that you could pick up for cheap.

Didn't have Ping down as the daddy of them all in 2024. They've come a long way from a driver no one wanted to be seen death with in the bag.
