50 years before, I bought this LP record titled "Bill Evans trio Sunday at the Village Vanguard" at the imported modern Jazz record shop called Disk Union in Ochanomizu town Tokyo. Even now, I listen to this tune or "Gloria's step". If you came to Tokyo, you had better visit the university town Ochanomizu .
@@kepi-le9zn Thank you for your nice comment, you had better visit Ginza and young people town, Shibuya" a certain well known crossroad" in front of its station too.
One of My favourite films with an underrated little melody covered by bill evans who absolutely smashes it. This was one of the tunes that got me into jazz. I still love it
In my view as a Jazz Piano sophomore: I have listened to this and many other classic recordings by Bill hundreds of times for inspiration and I can say with confidence that no other Jazz man reharmonizes basic song structures with more freshness, nuance and creativity. This happens so effortlessly with Bill because as a composer he can embellish melodic, harmonic and rythumic expression with the tools of a very creative artist. BTW, Kent nailed his comment. Kent is a great Jazz Piano maestro himself and his talent as an artist is stellar too. Not many around are as hip musically as he.
I totally agree ... this is the Best there is ... I still listen to this performance since the Seventies ... and what you say ... Hopeless Romantic ... the peak of Jazz !
so many comments are completely spot on, because these guys had it down so solid, and played so tight, we just roll along and every note and beat is saying something you want to hear. I can waltz, and if you can waltz, it's totally available even on the kitchen floor, to let loose. But hold back easy, because eight minutes waltzing to this is going to be fun.
We can be thankful for Vince Guaraldi and A Charlie Brown Christmas for introducing millions and millions of people to the seventh chord and associated upper structures. (And the people don’t even know it!)
The reason why I love this version is mere noise from people are talking or moving plates that it makes the music more comfortable.

Scott LaFaro was incredible

Awesome analysis!
The whole thing is a masterpiece, but the outro particularly gets my variety of faces going.
This song enchants me so. I can listen to it over and over and I fall more in love each time. Yes, I'm a hopeless romantic.

This and all the cuts from this recording are classics...and so we are grateful to you for posting them!
The man can do no wrong! Love this...love Bill Evans.
Luv you jazz tuna. Jazz needs more people like you.
Bill always look cool af for some reason lol
i agree, this cover goes hard
Blows me away every time I hear it.
a joyus example of how 3/4 time lent itself to evans' floating right hand and complex harmonies.
Personally prefer this one to Take 1 - more relaxed phrasing and flowing musical storyline - pure gold
Me2
This music is played the way it should be so.
The low emd bass is so fucking nice in this one
Now they're playing on the other side, beside the Father. That must be why He called them back so soon.
great tune, true hero

one step, two step, half step, balance, and one step, two step, half step, balance . . .
This is why I love Hip-hop so much. A song by Asheru, J-Live and Grap Luva called "track runners" brought me here to this amazing music!
This is why you love Hip-Hop? This isn't Hip-Hop...
there is a place for this piece of music in heaven
Yes, the lounge area 😎

Scott LaFaro speaks through the bass. This is the peak of jazz. It's a symphony in a trio.
