Hi, I'm looking to get into free diving/spearfishing. Do you have any suggestions for fins? Length, brand, styles etc. I'm 6' 2" and am fit enough to handle stiffer fins (I've heard they give you more power and are more efficient. Thanks for the help!
We used to do this on the east cost of South Africa as kids. We'd catch so many, all you need is a cheap pair of garden gloves, a long sleeve rugby jersey, mask and an old net bag. Cook them right on the beach.
Interesting, , I dive in Atlantic off northeastern coast (Long Island, NY, USA) OUR lobsters have claws and we take them by hand similarly to what you do. Also dive in Florida, USA. Those lobsters are more like ones you show, but they're very fast and often share the hole with moray eel so it's imprudent to try to grab by hand. We use tickle stick and snare.
Wobbigong shark. They're a type of carpet shark, extremely well camouflaged. They like to lurk on the bottom and eat crabs & stuff that comes too close. Not dangerous unless you stand on it or stick your hand in it's face.
Come to FLORIDA... THE MIAMI SPINY LOBSTER TOURNAMENT mini season 2014... Come see the biggest BUGS in town... weigh-in party Aug. 1st SUNSET TAVERN @5pm
johannes frings nah... he's just an activist... he's always lookin' for the fattest whale in the ocean! they say the OLD & FAT ones have to give way for the upcoming generation *spotted @ 4:48
Thank you for not putting crappy music on.

I loved how the first guy who caught 2 checked the size of the second one and let it go as it was smaller! Well done!
Nice Vid mate! what's the thickness of your gloves James?
Where were the claws in all

All I can say is that if you are going to be diving in 10 m or less don't get the really long ones also for caves diving unless it's deep.

Slipper are so beautiful.. But really all of them are.. one of the most mesmerising creatures in the ocean..
So, you grab them from the front? Where the claws are?
did you see any claws? these lobsters don't have any.
+Hea HEa Yes they do. But they're very, very small.
Where abouts is this place? I live in the Illawarra.
Makes me hungry!!!!! That is absolutely AMAZING
What is that popping sound at 0:34?
Water
Possible to get in contact James?
any does know if how much the cost of oxygen to buy it?
How fast do you have to grab it? do they get out of a tight grip easy?
Very fast and they get out easily, you will probably lose the first one.
were is that
I love this video.. Watched many times :)
do they bite?
do you have to have a license to catch.
Those lobsters are behaved
By the parents
They don't even struggle😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
is that south beach wollongong?
wilso nope
Why aren't they flapping their tails?? Everytime I catch one with my hand they flip out like crazy.
Because they think they can escape, when he grabs then hard they know they have no chance
what are wobbies???
Type of shark
+wolfhowlin It's a "Wobbegong Shark", a species of shark which sits at the seabed in wait of prey and utilises ambush predation to capture it's prey.
Wobbie gongs small sharks live in crevices in Australia, please be careful in Australian waters lots of nasties!
Why must oversized lobsters be released?
LukeyBoy they don’t taste as good
And btw december isnt hot in australia its like 40 DEGREES
Great footage & info, thanks for sharing!
whereabouts in nsw did u catch them
dude
Mate it is illegal to use a torch while looking for crays. Just a heads up mate. Good video though!
No it's not. It's illegal to use it with a speargun
That mountain in the backgrounds a dead give away .
This doesn't seem to be a "how to" video but more of an informational video describing lobsters.
Very educational. Thanks
You made a big mistake , You let the limbs fall of in to the water and u didn't get them now they wont be at that spot for a while
I heard lobsters are immortal.
Try coming to scotland and then dive for lobster
It's 9 degrees in the winter. There's no difference between Peterhead/Stonehaven where you would dive to the south coast of Australia.
try doing that with a florida spiny, you won't even got close. water is so cold by you the lobster don't try to run….
That's why you wear a 5mm open cell wetsuit when it's really cold. I guarantee you it's much colder here than in Florida.
You've got to be joking, how could you not catch lobster there. It's a veritable supermarket
OK, just what the heck is a "wobbey"??? Great vid...
This is a Wobby www.uwphotographyguide.com/images/BCC-wobby.jpg
