Thanks for sticking with it…..the pieces that fight you always end up being some of the best in the end. Also you should’ve said you wanted it to thermal crack, that way it wouldn’t have……come on Jim, you know how these things work lol.
A very correct statement, lol. Thank you very much!
You have made a great beautiful vase I really like the way it has turned into a good challenge but you have a flower pattern on the inside and trees on the outside.😅
Love this piece!
Designer Epoxy
Thank you! Cheers!
Gorgeous Jim! The colors work for me!!!
Designer Epoxy
Cool, thanks!
Love the look on this one.
Thank you very much!
Arizonan here. It's pronounced choy-uh. ❤
There are a couple of them growing in my yard.
I went with what google said, lol. Thanks
@@SpragueWoodturning the colors were perfectly representative and I love that piece!
You are right on the pronunciation of cholla
@@pamigreenwayCool, you have them growing! I'm curious... Are they mean/unruly like jumping cactus? (Very sharp, fragment easily, etc.?) Cheers!
@@mookinbabysealfurmittens Cholla are there ones called"jumping cactus." They don't really jump, their spines are just fine and barbed so they stick to anything that moves past which propagate their seeds. Any cactus is difficult to handle but we just pay attention to limb drop so it can be disposed of safely.
It’s a interesting material to work with. Thanks
Love the greens and Magenta!!❤😅
Thank you very much!
It is gorgeous, thank you for sharing 😊
My pleasure 😊
I see a few giraffes and a leopard or Dalmatian with a ball. This piece definitely exercises the imagination!!! Love it. Designer Epoxy.
Thank you very much!
Very cool hollow form, and it turned out great! Love the flower look on the top, so pretty! ❤
Another phenomenal turning. This is easily the best turning channel on RUclips. Designer epoxy.
Wow, thank you!
I AGREE 1,000%. This is the ONLY RUclips channel I watch with full dedication! Jim is an artist and a spectacular turner and teacher!
This is so gorgeous!
Thank you very much!
Amazing. I love saguaro and cholla cactus, and I love how the structure of the wood is so clear even though the epoxy isn't transparent. One of my favorites!
Thank you very much!
The different tones of the green are great! The magenta adds a lot too. Good job for an ominous start lol
This is a beautiful piece, Jim! As I watch you working with the cactus, I have to say, cholla cactus is HARD to get around when you are on horseback, lol! This vase is totally beautiful Jim! Love the colors you used, and the light shining through is gorgeous!!!
I bet it is, lol. Thanks
I agree, I got bucked off because of cholla. Nasty stuff, took two hours to pull all the needles out of my horse, plus a stay in the hospital for him. I didn't fair much better 😢😢. Beautiful piece.
Wonderful peace, I love the cactus. designer epoxy. Thanks
Thank you very much!
Great job matching the colors of the live body and blooms of the cholla cactus!! The cholla cactus is an invasive species that will teach cowboys, horses, and livestock the definition of the word “hate”!!
The color and the shape remind me of a watermelon which comes from the Pecos area of Texas.
Great job once again using the Designer Epoxy to showcase your design!!
Interesting, does that mean you can cut it at will there? Thanks
@@SpragueWoodturning Yes Sir. We use hay pitchforks to load it in trailers to go to ranch dump grounds.
@@Buttermilk3696 you should ship them to me, lol.
This looks great. I really like it.
Thank you very much!
Designer Epoxy. I like your use of different greens & the pop of the Cacti from it.
Thank you very much!
Wow, beautiful piece. I like the smaller opening, challenging. Thanks again Jim.
Many thanks!
Holy cow that's beautiful, the color on the top was good thinking 💯,I for one love hearing about you ,your wife and familys plans for the future.
Thanks so much!
That is awesome. I like the colour.
Thank you! Cheers!
The light colored cactus works extremely well with the dark green and magenta epoxy. You should definitely get more cactus skeletons for more projects. I think a plate with the cactus laid horizontally would be interesting.
Yes it would! Thank you very much!
Gorgeous looking hollow form Jim. The combination of the two different types of cactus, Hyper Shift, and the colors give this piece a unique visual effect. Thinking if you do another one , multiple colors and hyper shift would look amazing. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Yes, that would be nice. Thanks
Attack of the ghosts of cactus past. A beautiful vase and thanks for making it, excellent color choices. It was worth the wait 🌵🌵
Thanks again for sending them!
Jimdee, I'm in Pecos, TX teaching and coaching, and I'd love to see where you're getting these cacti...? I'm new to turning; I've turned 1 pen and I'm ready to try resin.. seems fun!!! Starting small! Thank you both. Great skills men!
Love the colors. Some of the cactus looks gold. Love the magenta as the flowers. Another stunning piece. It kinda looks like snake skin from afar. 💜
I think so too! Thank you very much!
I agree the many different patterns are indeed beautiful. Of course the color green just puts it over the top.
I totally agree! Thanks
Another amazing project with a great video… I look forward to these all week
Thank you very much!
The trials and tribulations of trying new materials. Nice to see you working with another material and overcoming the difficulties during the turning.
Well done Jim. You are an inspiration to all. The light show at the end is always an added bonus. Take care and all the best.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Nice work, Jimmy!
Thank you very much!
Another absolutely beautiful piece!!! Take care Jim. I hope that your house sells soon.
Thank you very much!
Another incredible piece. Very well worth the struggle, imo. The colors fit the cactus so well, and the cactus itself makes such beautiful patterns with the holes
Thank you very much!
Good afternoon from Edinburgh, Scotland
Good afternoon
Love the cactus. Makes you look at different objects as possible inserts for future projects.
When the light is inside, it changes the entire look. The Designer Epoxy is great. Why don't they make a deeper pore type for 8inchs and more.would this help with thermal cracks?😊
I’ve been working on them to develop that. I just got a batch of cool new hyper shifts to work with, can’t wait! Thanks
Designer epoxy. Very nice and beautiful color choice. 😊
Thank you very much!
Local desert dweller here, you say it "Choy ya" at least that's how we've said it my whole life lol, also your pieces are so beautiful 😊
I googled it, lol. Thank you
This piece is so cool. It's always fun to watch how it will work out with the extra the strange shapes you like to work with. This one lit up is fantastic
Thank you so much!
I love the 🌵 in this one Jim!
Thank you very much!
Love seeing enchanted green being used! This is a really lovely piece! To 10 for sure!
Thank you very much!
a real beauty it is !
Thank you very much!
Absolutely gorgeous! Your vision for this was spot on 👍
Thank you so much!
Another outstanding piece. The green and magenta really show off the cactus skeletons. Designer epoxy
Thank you very much!
It's fabulous, Jim! As usual, you've got the dimensions, form and colours just right! Given I live in England I appreciate that you can't distinguish between two very similar types of cacti!! Within the piece it is still not clear to me that they are different. I would have thought the same as you... They are different ages of the same species! Regardless the whole thing looks fantastic and the colour separation you achieved for the magenta "flowers" is perfect! Again, as always, well done sir... Very well done!!
Thank you very much!
Designer Epoxy. Gorgeous piece Jim.
Many thanks!
Designer epoxy Love the cactus piece I have some on my Arizona property so I will turn a bowl with some I only have the smaller type and I like the end grain look the best perfect color choice
The end grain is a cool look too, thanks.
Once again a stunning piece. I love the variety of woods and other bits you use. Can see this one beautifully displayed on a shelf with uplighting.
Thank you very much!
I find the works you do fascinating. it's amazing how you come up with different ideas each time and they all work out so well.
Thank you very much!
I say it each time I watch your videos, that what you made is my favorite, and you did it again. You have got to do more cactus. Especially with different colors and hypershift. This one is beautiful!
Thank you! Will do!
😂😂 that’s exactly me. Every one, I say to myself “this is my favourite”… until the next one.
Not s big fan of green but, this could change my mind love this field of summer flowers.❤❤ Nice job.
Oh by the way ,howdy from Dallas ,texas
Thanks for watching
Love the cactus. They are all over Arizona. Beautiful vase. I appreciate your work. You have the best woodturning RUclips channel every week. Designer Epoxy.
Thank you very much!
Absolutely STUNNING Jim! I really love the colours in this piece. I actually like the shape of the piece. WELL DONE!
Many thanks!
Great project. One of the cactus pieces reminds me of a frog. Nature provides so many amazing things. The choice of green was a good one. Brings the cactus back to life.
Agreed! Thank you very much!
Great pice. Nice job.
Thank you very much!
Wow the cactus really gives this a unique look. The magenta adds a nice pop of color. Love this piece , so will it's new owner❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
Oh wow Jim, that’s so beautiful. Love the colours and of course the patterns of the cactus. I do like the shape of this piece, it’s just perfect. ❤
Many thanks!!
Wow, Jim! Thats a gorgeous piece! I absolutely love that touch of magenta on top! It does sort of look like a cactus and the shape is kind of barrel cactus shape. Saguaro cactus are the ones that are tall and have those 'arms'. I just love this project, its a real art piece! Thank you, Jim!❤❤
Thank you very much!
You are a master at this stuff. I really love this one. Beautiful. Well done sir. The green with the touch of magenta. Superb!
Thank you very much!
Looks great as always! Designer Epoxy never fails.
Thank you!
💜💙 love it
Designer epoxy
Thank you very much!
The random wood patterns make this piece beautiful.
Thank you very much!
A beautiful labor of love, are some of the best art. Great piece Jim. Designer epoxy
Many thanks!
That piece is very beautiful. You are a true master of wood turning. Love your plans that you come up with. Amazing.
Thank you very much!
Looks very cool
As much as I love your bowls, it's these hollow forms you make that do it for me! Gorgeous piece once again!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful,I love the shapes created by the cacti. And the green is stunning
Thanks for watching!
Jim, this really looks good and I love the purple on top with the green hypershift going strong. Way to go Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
I absolutely love this vase and truly appreciate all the effort that went into making it. It was definitely worth all the suffering you went through. The green and magenta definitely work perfectly (although the thumbnail gave a suggestion that there was some turquoise in there too, which I didn't care for) Thankfully it ended up looking much nicer in the video. Yet another 10/10 from me.
As always, have a great weekend Jim 👍
Thanks for watching, cheers!
Gorgeous as always 😊
Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
nice piece
Thank you very much!
The two different species of cactus makes this very interesting. The Designer Epoxy always produces great results.
Thank you very much!
Oh YES; you need to make more of these for sure! Love love love it!!! 💖💖💖
I appreciate it, thanks for watching!
Great use of the Cactus and the Designer Epoxy, it would look great with a small LED light inside. Well done Jim
Thank you very much!
This piece is awesome! So far I haven’t seen anything you have made that wouldn’t be proud to place on my table or mantle. Love your eye for creating! ❤
Thank you!
So cool. Makes it almost leopard print. Nice colors. Gives you a new perspective on cactus. 🌵
Yes it does! Thank you very much!
One of the things I love about your work, Jim, is how you bring your love for the natural world into the things you create. The shapes those cactus create is so beautiful and organic. I imagine you've been doing this since your early inlay-only days. It's wonderful, even when it fights you!
Thank you very much!
Good.
Sometimes the projects that give us the hardest time ends up being worth the effort. This one was worth the effort. What a visual stunner. The interior lighting is ethereal. The shape, the pattern of the cactus, and the colors are a visual delight. This one goes into my top 10. Another fine piece. Well done Jim.👍
Thank you very much!
I like it.
Thanks
I absolutely love it. That green mixture is perfect for the 2 cactuses together. It's phenomenal. You did get this Justice and beyond.
❤😮🎉🎉❤
Thank you so much!
Designer epoxy
This open form vase is beautiful. I’d love the green color.❤
Thank you very much!
The random wood patterns gives it a ghost like feel and I am just amazed at how well the Designer Epoxy pulls this all together. Great job Jim !!!
Thank you!
This is one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen you create.
Thank you! Cheers!
Absolutely Stunningly Gorgeous Jim ❤ WOWSERS!
Many thanks!
Beautifully done Jim. You certainly make it look easy, you are an absolute magician with the Designer Epoxy. Greatly appreciate all your efforts with the videos.
Stay well.
Thank you very much!
The flow of the striations among the greens enhances the cacti's solid shapes. The lighting gives the piece completely different vibes. Fascinating! So much to look at and study. A hard won wrestling match!
Thank you very much!
I think that green color and the yellow cactus look great together (green and gold is a classic combo). The magenta designer epoxy is the cherry on top!
I totally agree! Thank you very much!
I won't be able to watch this morning because I have to go to work! But I will watch this afternoon! I can already tell this is going to be amazing 😍❤❤❤
Ok, thanks!
Work is the curse of the drinking class.
So so pretty, the green reminds me of a watermelon
Thanks
Stunning piece Jim I love the detail you put into your pieces, it seems a fair few of us have been affected by cancer either ourselves or in family members. A piece auctioned off for charity would be wonderful thing to do, maybe you could come up with possible themes and the members could vote for their favourite one
Thanks for the suggestion, yes cancer sucks!
When you introduce new things like this cactus, it is always interesting. Your results are always amazing as well. Thank you for your content
Thank you for watching!
Wow, this is spectacular! Nice work. Your color choices are really great too.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Sometimes the strongest storms bring the prettiest flowers. And Boy did your flower turn out beautiful!
Thank you very much!
The extra patience paid off..... another stunner Jim!!!!!!
An intriguing piece. Enjoy watching every Saturday morning as I am 10 hours earlier than you to see where your imagination has travelled this time.
Glad you enjoy it! Cheers
I know cacti come from (mostly) the desert. But this piece reminds me of the jungle. Leopards ready to jump out or maybe dancing around the center. Epoxy is one of the least natural materials but when paired with natural materials like wood brings out the best in nature. Another great piece!
Thank you very much!
Ooh, looks almost haunted when illuminated, the way the cactus pieces fade into the resin. Love it!
Thank you very much!
Thanks for stuck with the challenge! It turned out beautifully💕 I love the form the way it is. You were worried out there being a witness line and the thermal cracks, but honestly, you can’t see him in the finished piece. Awesome piece of art Jim
Yes, it cleaned up nicely. Thanks
It has to be frustrating that you get cracking when you don’t want them but trying to get cracking the resin doesn’t cooperate. This piece definitely speaks cactus. That pistachio green is one of my favorites. The magenta at the lip was a great choice. You are such an artist!
It can be frustrating, lol. Thanks
Fantastic piece! The inside light effect gives it a true 3D quality to the pattern. I never knew what a cactus looked like dried. I know it seemed to frustrate you a lot, and I'm grateful you stuck with it to the end. Thank you for sharing your craft with us. ☺️ 🙏
Thank you very much!
The 2 different cactus really make this piece! Great work as always!
Thank you very much!
That is definitely one of my favorites. Keep doing what you do, love it. I’m a U.S. Navy veteran, we veterans need to support each other.
Agreed! Thank you very much!
